Within all of the audition scenes, though, she can off as someone who didn't know what she was doing. A few of those auditions, she handed in really bad performances.
Except that in all of those audition scenes, it was clear that the focus was on the interviewers interrupting her in the middle of a performance, judging her solely based on a superficial beauty aspect, letting her only speak literally one or two lines, etc. I get if you think that the actual performances she gave in and of themselves may be bad, although I would disagree, but the movie makes it a clear point that plot-wise, that wasn't the issue at all. Disrespectful and ignorant interviewers were. And those experiences are directly inspired by what actual actors have gone through, including Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone themselves.
Regardless, TIED FOR MOST OSCAR WINNING MOVIE.

Honestly, this is the best result. Like I said before La La Land didn't deserve it. Still a good movie but not that good. Moonlight on the other hand? Yes, yes it very much does.

I think they gave Warren the wrong envelope because if it said "Emma Stone from La La Land" then they gave him the envelope for Best Actress not Best Picture.
So the academy screwed up.

Moonlight was also a brilliant movie, and one of the most important movies of this decade imo. So it winning the best picture is all kinds of "FUCK YES".
As much as i love La La Land, Moonlight just stands on a whole different level, and will be culturally important in the future.
Ali is reaching my favorite actor list really quickly. This dude needs to be in more movies.

Definitely a relief that Moonlight won for real. It's a movie with the power to do a whole lot more good than a self-gratifying wankfest about white privilege harkening back to the days of whiter privilege.
Moonlight is definitely an interesting movie that brings some new discussions to the table of mainstream cinema. Beyond that, it's a really well-crafted movie that gives distinct and striking impressions of its characters. It feels very real, like you're intruding on these people's lives; that's the sort of impression it left on me. I'm feeling a great need to watch it again in this post-Oscars haze. It's a well-deserved win, though.

I'm just glad Zootopia won Best Animated Movie. That's the only category that would have really disappointed me if another movie got chosen over it, especially since it released so early into the year.

Yeah any movie beating Zootopia would have been a tragedy there.
Kubo was good. Moana was solid. Im sure the others could have been great. But Zootopia was on a whole different tier. Still surprised it didnt land its own Best Picture nod.

The latter. Completely the latter. It won the Best Makeup and Hair category. Its opponents were Star Trek Beyond and a Swedish drama named A Man Called Ove. It actually deserves the award in that category unless there were other movies that deserved to be nominated, and the award acceptance speech was actually a bit touching since I remember one of the winner saying that the award was for all of the struggling immigrants out there.
I find the whole event much more funny than even being the slightest bit outraged.

Here's a timeline of the mishap and an explanation of what went wrong last night with the Best Picture announcement.
To sum it all up it was just a simple case of Warren being handed the wrong envelope, seeing something was off about it, and reading it anyway. I really don't blame Warrren for the mistake. This is on the Academy but it seems like a small mistake with a large impact. Everything else went off without a hitch but, man, what a poor ending.

An awards shelf can only be best presented in immediate groups of seven trophies. Any less is just a case of complacency.

People who are "mad" at this are actually just generally pointing out the injustice of a poorly reviewed and fundamentally flawed movie like Suicide Squad winning an Oscar when more deserving and beloved movies and directors have not.
But I think most people understand that, yeah, for makeup and hairstyle, sure, Suicide Squad had a really good chance in that category. It doesn't actually speak for the quality of the movie itself though.

Zootopia, meh, it would be nice to see something outside of Disney to win more often, by that I mean more recognition for films that take risks.
Suicide Squad oscar winning for make-up, everything else about that film was a headache to me. Half of the make-up probably was touched up with VFX anyway.
