Is there an actual geological link between these three gemstones, or can I chalk it up to an SU fan in the team?
Dr. Stone
-
-
Probably a SU fan. Rubies and Sapphires are both alumina oxides with different impurities, but Garnets are silicates with entirely different compositions.
-
There could also be an astrological connection, or just red-purple-blue.
-
Garnets aren't traditionally purple, though. They're largely associated with red, and sometimes green. Remember that the fusion gem itself doesn't have to be based on a color combination or a material relation. Malachite is green, which blue and orange don't add up to. Additionally it seems like Rebecca Sugar color codes meaning into gems, so that's a part of her creative process.
Occam's razor still seems like the best way to cut this topic. Ruby, Sapphire, and Garnet have no connection more apparent than the one in Steven Universe.
-
-
You just linked what birthstones is.
-
I like this whole stone age village arc more than the whole stuff after the first chapter. Hope we won't meet the other three for a couple dozen chapters, this is comfy right now.
-
Know what? I can't prove that it isn't SU.
-
This chapter finally had excellente narrative pace and was about food + science.
Best chapter of the week award goes to Stone!

Contains what I personally believe to be the funniest line of the series.

"What's your ideal kind of girl~?"
"The type of girl that can pump a lot of air into a smelting furnace."

you had me at pump… :ninja:

Stone's top on ToC and even at quality.
Wonderful chapter, that's the way to cut things, cut words, not actions. This new character reminds me of Faust VIII from SK, so i kind of like it.

Also very small enel reference there, im saying that cause I doubt the thunder god is an oda original, but the pose and the drums and crazy look reminded me of him
-
!
Nope.
-
Nope.
I said It more or less was probably already a thing lol
-
The translation I read kept saying Harlem…
-
Kohaku's face….:3
-
I really hope Dr. Stone gets a healthy and steady following, the chapters are incredibly fun and I love the whole science worship of it all
-
Enel is everytime Boichi gives a panel to someone face.
This chapter too had excellent pace, and the flower show, damn, i laughed very hard, i like the guy.

Hello there Kurita-senpai.

I know this is getting old but
!
Alien???? -
Hey I'm fine with Alien Kohaku as long as her facefault library stays as diverse as it is now. She's way more human than Yuzuriha, so far…
-
Kurita from Eyeshield pushing the generator on page 8, haha
best reference I have seen in a long time.
-
This is cute and all but I'm ready for some actual conflict now, please
-
I don't get what's up with Chrome in the last panel.

I like that Senkuu's hair is green now when it used to be blonde
growin' some moss there -

Oh but there are still so many chain links in this RPG quest before we get to conflict!
Make every item on the Stone Road Map -> make antibiotics -> get permission to cross bridge from K+G -> cure Ruri (learn history of village + how she knows Momotaro) -> earn love/respect of Village 40 -> ??? -> Taiju + Yuzuriha do something -> ??? -> Beat Tsukasa -> ??? -> Figure out what caused petrification -> Reboot civilization

I find the whole rebuilding society stuff far more interesting than the conflict between Senkuu and lion guy.

Yep, I wish the series would stay like this ditching the whole fighting against the emo guy and his Mad Max view of the world.
-
I don't mind Tsukasa as a villain goal-wise. It's cool enough to work. There was bound to be one guy in this series who's going to say "Hey, who said that we have to release EVERYBODY from petrification?", and somebody with barbaric talents is a fitting antagonist against the protagonists utilizing the smarts of science. The issue for me comes from introducing him so early and making him turn evil so quickly. As well as his personality being so bland. So the conflict, while having potential in theory, doesn't feel like it really had enough time and substance put into it to feel like I can be invested in it.
-
Oh, a chapter of love and indeed it was well passed.
I'd usually never feel moved by characters because usually japanese aren't good narrators… but Senkuu's enthusiasm for every bit of science discovering it just overwhelm me. I can really entangle with his quest, pretty much that i don't care what's the plot progression, i'm really enjoying the lecture.

Wait, why did Senku build a lighthouse? If Tsukasa has someone else in the valley, then he now knows that Senku is alive.

The next steep is to electrify brine to separate the sodium hidroxide from it.
Then part of the components for the hydrochloridric acid can be obtaining by just combining sulfuric acid and salt, and then dissolving that in water.
Sodium Bisulfate is formed by mixing in a precise quantity, or something like that.
Chlorosulfuric acid seem to be a simple mixing reaction.
Carbonic acid is aparently just water and co2.
And the amonia from fermented urine.
Sodium Bicarbonate seems very.. complex.
Aniline doesn't seem like it can be extracted from coal, but from other acids of the list
-
Carbonic acid + sodium hydroxide produces water and sodium bicarbonate, as well as sodium carbonate depending on the concentrations of the solutions. It should be a fairly easy step.
-
Wikipedia ranted, didn't know. Most of the next steeps are simple then, getting the sulfuric acid, or the containers for the acids might take a quest, but we are getting the antibiotics pretty soon.
-
Arlong Park creators should disclose that feature of Red Star users that is needed to have a chemistry degree in order to have it.
In my usual life, i only need to urine sometimes, drink alcohol quite often and have salt at hand because i find sweets in everything.
Regarding the series, what would Tsukasa do with Trump's statue?
-

I'm a complete dunce when it comes to science outside of maybe anatomy and psychology.
-
I'm a code monkey, I just searched for the reactions and asumed minecraft logic.
-
I bungled my way through organic chemistry in college but I still remember enough of the basics to interpret some stuff.

Isn't Trump like at the other side of the world of where Tsukasa is?
-

Unfortunately, this is Jump, not Sunday.

Chapter's out.
…Didn't Tsukasa say he only wanted high schoolers and below?
What did they feed their children if these are teenagers?

Yeah I was wondering that too. Could have maaaybe passed a few but there's a balding guy.

Male pattern baldness hit him young, it seems.
-
So where does Cola fit on the science flowchart?
-
Well, there is carbonated gas in the alcohol side of the chart, from that to soda you just need a good sweet juice.
