Chapter 850: Ray of Hope

Of course. But to be fair, even though humans can definitely be stronger than every other race, the series still loves to hype up the power of other species and whatnot. Even Sea Kings to this day when the first chapter had them one-shotted lol (not that there aren't different types like in the Calm Belts and Fishman Island).

It's rather unclear as of now. But given how the story is becoming more focused on Giants with Big Mom, Kaido, and Elbaf on the horizon, these bounties can certainly become more relevant and elaborated on.

I should have worded that differently. I meant a human can be stronger than members of another race but the entire human race cant be stronger than the others if we take what each race is capable of doing at an average. Stronger in this context refers to physical strength alone.

One of the main things that stood out to me this arc was the revelation of Big Mom being a semi reasonable character and some characteristics that we can define as good.

However, with the reveal of Pudding's darker side this arc, and especially the fact that she said that Luffy and Nami are going to die on this island it seems that Big Mom lied to Sanji about letting the Strawhats go. (As long as you play by my rules.. Etc.)

Prior to this chapter I had Big Mom pegged as a chaotic neutral character, but I'm not so sure anymore. What do you guys think about Big Mom now?

So far, I kind of think that Big Mom seeming to not be loyal to her word is a bit cheap with how built-up her philosophies and ethics were. She made for a unique type of antagonist by being so chaotically neutral and kooky as a tactical, megalomaniacal business woman. But if she really did lie, then that's rather disappointing. I never doubted that she was corrupt and psychotic, but that doesn't mean those characters can't have consistency with compelling standards.

We will probably get an explanation. But to be fair, they aren't "mythical" creatures. They are RARE creatures. Practically one of a kind in terms of being hybrids or only being a few/one of them in existence.

I called them mythical because she values them in the same light, going as far as saying a Zebra with a horn attached to its head is a unicorn lol
Also, I figured out why they're in the book and not roaming around because Mont d'or's ability prevents creatures in his book from ageing "but of course! The contents of a book do not change every time you open it" she says.
So it's to preserve her rare collection, like any avid collector would do with rare "items".

It is still undetermined. But if you don't see anything by the end of Thursday, then you have your answer.

The "Holiday Schedule" thread makes it pretty clear when to expect 851.

Spoilers sometime this weekend most likely and then the chapter around Monday or Tuesday.

Last year we got Ch. 811 spoilers on Christmas day (Saturday) with the chapter out on the 26th (Sunday). And then Ch. 812 spoilers on the 12th (Tuesday) of January and the chapter on the 14th(Thursday).

I could be wrong though, of course.

It's not that I ever doubted she was a nutcase, it's just that she has a side to her character that was suprising to me that was revealed this arc which is in jeopardy of being removed slightly. Her being a semi-reasonable and/or negotiable character gives her nuance from our standard villian, but with the way it looks she might devolve into a more bland character. Maybe I'm jumping the gun and judging her to early without fully seeing the lasting effects.

Completely agree. The fact that Jinbei (practically a main character at this point) was willing to work with her meant she couldn't be as rough and "evil" as Kaidou and his crew, but with her lie I can't help but have a sour taste in my mouth.

It's pretty much the same every year give or take a few days due to the holidays and Jump break.

I think we're in for an OP break sometime soon as well. Probably after 852 if not 851.
