This was as really meaty chapter. Lots to take in. Luffy getting beat the hell up, the discovery of Lola's vivre card, more of Big Mom's crew, some exposition of poneglyphs, background on Pedro, and even a little (meh) Sanji. Thank god there's no break next week.
Wait a sec, out of the 30 Poneglyphs, 9 of them contain history and 4 of them point you in the direction of Raftel. What about the other 17 Poneglyphs? Are those just diaries from different people?
I don't like it, but Luffy's final words about 'staying in the same place' make me think he's gonna beat down the one carrying him and continue fighting against all odds.
That aside, I must say, Oda is on fire with this arc. Its definitely Oda's best work since the time skip started.
@.access:
And you should know that was only possible because Nami was there raining on (the) Cracker's parade.
What, getting one blow in?
There's no way Luffy is weaker than Cracker (which is what Watch-man was implying and what I was responding to) when the fight ended the way it did.
Sure, he would have had a harder time under normal circumstances, I'll give you that.

The 9 poneglyphs, that which it is stated to be the Rio Poneglyph aka Robin's Dream, have specific history that interests them that makes them far more special than Joy Boy pr Pluton.

The one and only Pandaman, our savior.
Luffy should learn to use CoO more, he should be able to dodge that double Haki punch or at least reduce damage with his own arnament Haki. Getting distracted by a book house then getting crushed is a bit childish at this level.

Of course. i thought I'd recognize him.

Knowing those he's fighting, there are hit-or-miss situations taking place. Especially now.

The book world is an illusion. They were already mid-attack, which is why Nami told him to dodge.
CoO is useless if you're not fast enough to react. And we're at a point where everybody is just too fast, but they look slow due to this being a comic, where we get panels dedicated to reactions.
So if there's four Road Poneglyphs, nine Rio Poneglyphs, and presumably a set of three detailing the locations of the Ancient Weapons (since we've seen two of those already), I wonder if there'll be any other notable subsets of Poneglyphs revealed before the end. I think it's a given we'll see all of the Rio and Road ones, as well as Uranus's location, but that leaves a total of sixteen unaccounted for. What's their purpose?
And what happens if one of the super plot relevant ones has been missed already? Like there's still a Rio Poneglyph in Paradise? I doubt, realistically, they'd all be on the same route through the Grand Line…

I understand the speed of the manga very well. We all know Luffy's speed is almost unparalleled and I doubt anyone in that lot is as fast as Luffy. Regardless of how fast they may be though, Nami saw the attack. I understand why Luffy couldn't see it because of the illusion but he should be able to sense it. If dodging is far fetched, at least he can coat himself. He was standing there like deer caught in headlights. At this level, that's stupid.
Anyone think that one of the real motivations of Big Mom's appeal toward several marriages is revealed here: Wedding Cake! Would be appropriately absurdist if that is one of Big Mom's main reasons for going along with Sanji's deal. (watch that wedding cake be a homie!). Though obviously she also wants a widely dynastic matriarchy, but we all know just how major BM's sweet tooth is.

We have to account that he is tired too. I don't expect Luffy to be as speedy as he usually is in that condition.
Strength is not an absolute thing. This is why characters use desperation moves when they're at their last stand.
Betting the stealth mission fails but Jinbe actually had copies of the poneglyphs all along (the reason he brought her one– to get in and make copies).

Jimbe did not bring a road poneglyph. The stealth mission is for a Red/Road Poneglyph.

The only viable explanation here is Luffy is exhausted. I guess Oda taking his time to draw Luffy caught in headlights panel emphasized that.
???
Luffy literally defeated Cracker with one blow.
Without Nami, Luffy could have lost or win a fight being in same state that he was after defeating Lucci.
Also Nami softening those soldiers made it possible for Luffy to get full, most likely more deadly version of tankman.
I do not see Luffy beating Jack or Cracker on his own just yet. If anything Luffys gear fourth puts him on par with pre-timeskip Ace so he is close to being on par with top of Yonko crew but he is not there yet.
Awakening would be just right amount of boost for Luffy to be able to beat top Yonko commanders without being in near death state after a fight and to put an Admiral in position where he needs to watch out for Luffys attacks. Perfect for Monster Trio beating up Kizaru for example.
Can we cool it with the Awakening jets please. Such a powerup is not going to come against a no-name Yonko commander. We haven't even had Gear Fourth for that long.
@Shobu:
Arabasta's holds the location of Pluto, Skypiea's the location of Poseidon and Joyboy's apology message in the depths of the sea… i don't see those being Rio Poneglyph. If the latter would have directly explained the use of Noah, then perhaps it could fit.
If what you say would've been true. Imagine how many the Gorosei would have confiscated. It would be pointless.
No. Robin mentioned in chapter 301 that the "information" poneglyphs are the pieces to compose the Rio Poneglyph, but only when they are brought to Raftel and used with the information reported there. And this chapter confirmed it, that diagram of Tamago is so clear you can't go wrong, it calls the group of 9 the "Rio Poneglyph".

Robin in chapter 301 also mentioned that there are 2 type of poneglyph, those who contain information and those who point to the location of other poneglyph, those 17 are probably the latter since there is no indication of what they might contain.

The poneglyphs who point to location of weapons are part of the 9 "information" poneglyph.
What do people expect luffys awakening do ? They just say great boost of awakening

Even enel that had one of the strongest coo lost control of it
And luffy is beaten up
And also in order to use coo you have to be calm and i dont think luffy can calm himself when he is like that and fighting and is middle of book world
Let's see… Sanji pleas with mom asking her to let the Strawhats go, Mom agrees and says she'll let them off the island alive. The enraged army defeats Luffy and Nami, were already given orders to take them alive.
Guess who's getting their souls turned into Homies!

Your statements are both correct and unrelated to what I was saying, lol.

If Ace was that strong, he wouldn't have gotten captured. It's criminal, whichever one you did, either underestimating G4 or overestimating Ace. Despite Haki combined with the BIscuit is the hardest thing Luffy I've seen, G4 crushed it in one blow. Cracker even said it that only a few have seen his real face, No one in the fucking marines have any idea what Cracker looks like. Thanks to G4, Luffy saw his face in a matter of minutes/hours.
Regarding if he would have lost or not w/o Nami. I honestly doubt that. We all know Luffy is very resourceful in combat and it won't take him time at all to figure out Cracker in Nami absence.
Luffy will always be in a near death state after any reasonable fight unless opponent is very weak because of how Luffy fights. He doesn't use any weapon and he's reckless. He goes into everything head on. three, his techniques are very demanding on his body.

Because it's not possible for Jimbe to have copies of Road poneglyph. Like seriously, how?
What do people expect luffys awakening do ?
Personally I expect it to turn him into Neo.
"What are you trying to tell me, that I can dodge bullets?"
"When you're ready you won't have to."
Everything else turns into rubber and harmlessly bounces off him.

Except Joy Boy and Pluton ones are part of the 9 rio poneglyphs. But their meaning will be revealed only if they are brought to Raftel, like the 4 road poneglyphs don't have any meaning when taken alone.

Ah, I see. So the other 17 could be ones that point to other Poneglyphs with recorded history (the kind Robin wants) or have info on one of the Ancient Weapons. If I'm not getting scatterbrained, I think that's the correct conclusion.

I could see this happening. Jinbei usually plans ahead most of the time, except in his plan for rescuing Fishman Island.

Way too much Thriller Bark.

I'm not sure what the most gruesome part of this chapter was; Meito slowly murdering the screaming tree by cutting it slowly in half or Smoothie juicing a real human being.
The juiced girl seemed to have been enjoying the whole ordeal. Probably not dead, considering what we're reading. First time we saw BM it appeared she was devouring living people, so…
But I do wonder what the hell did Smoothie juice out. Is it just human fluids or does her devil fruit selectively extract the specific nutrients or something.
Luffy should learn to use CoO more, he should be able to dodge that double Haki punch or at least reduce damage with his own arnament Haki. Getting distracted by a book house then getting crushed is a bit childish at this level.
Luffy simply had no will to win these fights. Thats the main problem. He is very dissapointed of Sanji. His goal is not to beat all enemies and find&rescue Sanji. He just wants to stay there and eat nothing. Nearly every fight of Luffy in the last years, without his will to win, he is lost. Yes, he is lost and thats exactly what he told Sanji.
With all this '' kill zeff'' ever since zou, if sanji doesn't marry, I would be surprised if bm/vinsmokes didn't also send someone to capture zeff and bring him at the wedding.
You know, as some safe plan in case sanji changes his mind about the wedding, he will have zeff next to him ready to be killed if he will say no.
With another of Big Mom Sweet Commanders revealed this chapter. How many more major characters left to be revealed?
Is it bad I want Lady Amande and Lady Smoothie to absolutely fucking destroy me?

I think it be hot wouldn't mind being destroyed by them myself.

His will is very strong to the point of him refusing to leave even after being beaten. This isn't a matter of Luffy not caring it's a matter of overwhelming force.

! @sandman:
! > It seems a secret message from Oda to Shimabukuro (Toriko's author) is hidden behind the cover page.
Toriko's final chapter is included in the same issue. The message is "Thank you Shimabukuro for Toriko!!"
http://mangastream.com/r/one_piece/846/3811/1
- Striped Pig
It represents "Shima-Boo", known as a nickname for Shimabukuro.
"Shima" means stripe and "Boo" is an onomatopoeia for pig's cry in Japanese.
- 39
39 represents "Thank you".
3 and 9 are pronounced as San (さん) and Kyu (きゅー) in Japanese.
3 (さん San) 9(きゅー Kyu)=さんきゅー(Sankyu)
"Thank you" is written as さんきゅー(サンキュー) in Japanese..
- 5 Birds
They represent "Toriko".
Bird is called 鳥(Tori) in Japanese.
5 is pronounced as Go in Japanese.
Tori 5= Toriko (Torigo)The pen name is Oda. When Oda drew this cover page, he asked Toriko's author, "What's your favorite animal?". He answered "I love rabbits."
Request to Oda: "Please draw rabbits M.S. loves." (M.S. seems like an abbreviation of Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro.)
It's funny that this request comes from Oda himself.Wow thanks for that SandMan (as usal good work) jumping back to Toriko right now.
awesome chapter!!!!!..nami actually did controlling zeus…lightning bolt to the army....but the one holding nami seems like doflamingo string df

A meat cooked by Sanji unfortunately
Well, call me twisted (pun intended!) but Smoothie juicing that young woman was strangely sexy and horrifying at the same time :ninja:It does look really brutal, the way she is twisting her body around, but I guess she kinda enjoys it, too. Wonder who she was anyway, just some random servant girl? She was dressed pretty fancy.
Smoothie is great, Amande is badass (and creepy) as hell and Big Mom herself is a fantastic character. The Big Mom Pirates are an amazing enemy group and I really hope these guys will get lots of screentime.
Of course Brooke is the perfect opponent for smoothie queen. There's nothing on him to juice! Brooke taking down a yonkou commander would put a big feather in his cap as a character.
What do people expect luffys awakening do ? They just say great boost of awakening
Well for example Luffy could be able to turn rubbery any object or wall he wants.
!
Imagine this scene with difference that after hitting a wall Doflamingo bounces back for another Leo Bazooka or Ouren Gattling. Now you should understand how good it would be for Luffys combat power to gain ability to turn walls/ ground rubbery.

No it wouldn't be ridiculous for someone of Brook caliber to take down a top tier Yonkou Commander. Luffy had to go all out against Cracker who's most probably weaker than Smoothie.
Of course Brooke is the perfect opponent for smoothie queen. There's nothing on him to juice! Brooke taking down a yonkou commander would put a big feather in his cap as a character.
yes and I think Robin would be against the one with the book power, Franky against the towers and maybe Zoro against the slow cuter.
Strength comparisons aside, bones do have moisture in them, so Smoothie could probably kill Brook too. Of course, we don't even know what she's juicing from the body in the first place.
So Pedro lost his eye while attacking Big Mom.
So Pedro lost his eye while attacking Big Mom.
Oh, like he played the wheel of fortune game?
Now I'm really curious about Pekoms. How was he able to talk down Big MOM from what is apparently a very dangerous rage. Hell even one of her sons couldn't her talk her down.
So the fact that she let a would-be thief of the poneglyphs go. Just because Pekoms asked, is very very strange.
But if Pekoms was that important, why would Capone try and kill him?
