I'm usually not into manga where all characters got edgy badass design , but since this type of design is pretty rare in One Piece, Katakuri stands out pretty well. I like it.

OK chapter, next week should be really interesting… Katakuri looks awesome but do not impressed by this CoO hype cuz Enel had super haki before as well and Luffy was able to overcome it.
And as I said in the spoiler thread… I do not by this haki hype cuz during fights besides CoA we see jack shit… I just say clash of CoC users and actually nothing special happened during Dressrosa
Further more disappointed by this underground guys… I thought we will see someone we know but instead new characters again… it’s not like we had an overload of them already in the last arcs.
Only thing… I sadly do not have the time… has someone checked if one of them is fitting the shadows of the underground people during Punk Hazard? -

Damn Katakuri is cool. I stared at a panel for a couple of minutes. There's not a detail I don't like.
I was half expecting another guy with weird proportions. He looks like he came straight out of Mad Max. And his ability makes everything a lot more interesting. Wonder what his devil fruit is.
If I had more time now I'd try to match underworld leaders to PH silhouettes.

All the character designs are amazing this chapter. The art was great. Odd still owning it after all these years. Who is the person with long hair sitting in the middle of the last panel?

At last we come to it. As expected, lots of new introductions this chapter. It was necessary, but on the downside it feels like not much is happening.
Not a big fan of Katakuri's design. It isn't bad, on the contrary, but he feels completely out of place among the rest of the Charlotte siblings. With such spiky-punky looks I would expect him to appear in a Mad Max movie, not the candy wonderland that is Big Mom's realm.
His observation haki adds up to the multiple layers of possible plan fuck-up causes, though. -

I hope people realize that the "underground" refers to quite a lot of smugglers and people involved in illegal activities. It won't be surprising for us to see brand new people and not the ones we already know. I was also looking to see whether these new members were actually allied with the Vinsmokes or the Big Mom pirates. If Big Mom had planned to eliminate the Vinsmokes, I wonder what she had planned for their allies too.
It's interesting for Aladdin to mention about Ryuga kingdom since it shows that Jinbei is likely to be on the wrong side of Big Mom before the end of the arc and hence it might affect her protection over the Ryuga Kingdom as a whole. I was under the impression that the deal was mainly for the sweets and Jinbei's team under her protection was just an addon bonus.

Don't need to go that far back. They match the shadowy figures from a few chaps back. Down to sickles and such.

It doesn't fit in any known tribe (not mamal nor sea creature), we can't predict if its a devil fruit effect (like it being a toy, a homie or something else of that kind) and while it could be a zoan, it is other than chopper and the weapon devil fruits that shows up in the hybrid form rather than his base form.
Or is it another case of Papuggism?

I doubt he's a homie, since I'm not sure they can operate that independently. Also his dialogue suggested he was closer to Germa than Big Mom. He's no mink, either. So I think either new race or Bird-Bird Fruit.

Awesome chapter. I love it when new characters are introduced in bulk. Katakuri's more serious design was pretty surprising to me, but I like it.

We don't necessarily know yet if it's a jellybean fruit. All he actually seemed to do was throw the jellybeans Bullseye style like they were bullets.
On the flip side, if it is a jellybean devil fruit, it could always be Big Mom herself so arranged it. I could easily see her as having the resources to obtain candy themed devil fruits if she wishes.

A certain BM Pirate with a turtle fruit beat a rather cool-looking Logia. It is not the power itself, but rather the usage of it that matters.
Regardless, I think the jellybeans are projectile weapons and not part of his DF power.

You make valid points but isn't that what's great about the designs of Katakuri, Smoothie and Cracker though? They give off that Mad Max vibe and its great to see Oda taking his influences from far and wide.
Maybe I'll change my mind one day but I'm still reading this many chapters in. The man and his assistants are still doing something right.
