      It's that time again.

Raking leaves is just one of those chores nobody wants to do but has to do it anyway. So, we would like to know how everyone here handles the chore in their own way. What are the best leaves to rake? What are the worst?

      Thoughts?

Raking leaves is the only thing about Fall that sucks.

          I'd say:

S tier: Leaves that have some red, orange, and yellow over it since it's in the middle of changing
A tier: Red leaves, crunchy brown leaves
B tier: Yellow leaves, orange leaves
          C tier: Green leaves
          D tier: Brown leaves
E tier: Those leaves that are brown and fallen, and you want them to crunch when you step on them, but they don't crunch and it feels like you're stepping on a damp paper bag

That's my way of ranking leaves.

Silly goose, he didn't say ranking leaves. He said racking leaves. You know, when you stack leaves on your shelves

Somehow, the prospect of stacking leaves would lead to quite a few messy results that would involve ugh raking.

I'd rather use the rake as a weapon and rake someone over the coals with it.

Or ram the other end up some fucker's ass when he says that he uses a leaf blower.

You could always use a leaf blower and make it the government's problem. (Don't actually do that, it's illegal in many areas)

Don't own a blower (money troubles).

There is a leaf vacuum but it's only recommended for dry leaves.

Don't own that either (money troubles).

                  Fucking rakes…

Oak leaves are quite easy to gather though. Fruit tree leaves on the other hand, are more of a pain in the ass.

Only works for S and A tier leaves though. Unless you use copious amounts of fire accelerant…
My parents have a huge walnut tree. I remember raking E Tier stuff for weeks 😧

I very rarely had to rake leaves in my life. So, in a way, I guess I am super lucky that I never had that frustration .-.

Though…. I try to make everything fun, even chores, so when that time comes, I make a game out of it! :3

If anyone asks me if I like doing chores like raking leaves, I'll answer with this:

Yeah, I love doing chores. Why? BECAUSE IT'S FUCKING CHORE-IFFIC!!! throws rake on ground

I wait till the maximum that my rake can handle has fallen and Then rake. But in any case, the death of trees is quite beautiful.

But I think the real question is:

Do you jump in the pile or not?

I will admit publicly that kicking a pile of S to C tier leaves is quite satisfying. If I had a dog or small human I would allow them to destroy the pile. Some piles are meant to be destroyed.

                                  a) you have to become a leaf yourself.
                                  b) master the three-rake-technique.
                                  c) you´re done.

Technically, it's not the tree itself that is dying, just the leaves on it. And the death of trees is beautiful? I guess, if you're a mysoginist towards arbors.

Worst? Raking gooey, rotten apples. They're not really leaves but kind of and you have to rake them up if you're late with taking care of them. Totally the worst.

Jumping on leaf piles unfortunately doesn't work that well anymore when you're a heavy adult without fluffy snowpants.

Best thing about fall is Halloween, easily. Also my university is giving us a whole weekend for thanksgiving next week, which is nice.
Worst thing is the clothing situation, at least in early fall. You dress for 5-10 degree Celsius weather in the early morning and then your car becomes an oven when it goes to 20 degrees with full on sun in the afternoon.

What's the foliage time table like in French New England?
Like when's the leaf color peak, and by what point is everything usually done falling.

If you're going to rake leaves there are certain safety guidelines you must adhere to.

                                            1. Never leave a rake laying down pointy side up.
                                            2. Wear gloves or you will get splinters 10 minutes in that won't come out for 3 days.
                                            3. Always make sure there's nothing already in your leaf pile before you jump in it.
                                            4. Don't rake barefooted when there are other rakers around.
                                            5. Actually, don't rake barefooted at all.

                                            Everything's Eventual…

There is an excellent Calvin & Hobbes comic out there that describes the risk of jumping into leaf piles. Mostly to do with bug infestations and shit.
                                              @Skogstroll:

Worst? Raking gooey, rotten apples. They're not really leaves but kind of and you have to rake them up if you're late with taking care of them. Totally the worst.

Skogstroll, my neighbor has a crab apple tree in her yard which spills a good bushel of crab apples into our yard every year. They're not bad to rake if they are still ripe and firm but once they start rotting and get all squishy, that's when it becomes discouraging.
