Too many pinkies needing to be rescued in a row for me. Lol. Black, blonde and red make sense. Those are much more normal.

Fishman island, Dressrosa, and WCI all have arcs inbetween them which means they're not in a row. How are those hair colors more normal than pink in the world of One Piece?

Green I assumed that since that was often used as a specific Zoro descriptor we wouldn't see it that often.

Monet, Bartolomeo, Kokoro, Chimney, Sugar, Sandersonia and Gaimon all have green hair.

Red is more of a Shanks unique thing. Orange is Nami.

Then why do Calgara & Kid have it? There are a couple of characters with orange as well.

I just mostly was hoping that with Big Mom and some of her kids winding up with pink Sanji's sister wouldn't also have pink. Just makes Reiji even less unique.

There is no character with a unique hair color.

I love that cover, wasn't fully expecting them to not be blonds though. They still look cool, just less third reich. That's three good covers in a row, I hope Oda keeps this streak up.

Does it matter? It's my opinion. I don't like her hair color. It makes her less unique is what I said. Less. She already has Oda's base face and body style for attractive women.

Those arcs were big chunks of the story. So the pinkies stick most in my mind. Also they were hugely annoying and so far there's nothing I like about Reiji personality wise either.

Hm. Oh I think I was thinking of Shanks and the manga shading thing. I thought Nami waa supposed to be the only orange too. Cause her theme.

As for Zoro no I meant that it seemed to be a unique trait but then more green popped up. Just seemed odd when more showed up as all. Especially when for a while Sanji making fun of Zoro for it stood out.

Most of Big Mom's kids are probably gonna have pink hair too But honestly, given how many characters OP has there's gonna be some hair colors that get used a lot

Ichiji with his redheaded stepchild hair in that design looks like a goofball. I camt explain it but with a blonde hairstyle it looks more normal I guess.

I thought they were the Vinsmoke Blondies, but the Vinsmoke Rangers/Super Sentai Vinsmokes looks so much better and actually matches with their epithets. A pity that Judge has blonde hair like Sanji, but hey, at least he rocks that ~~Super Saiyan 3 hair~~ lion's mane style. Still hoping to see Judge's curly brows.

But I didn't say pink was taboo. But too many prominent arc females have it lately. In succession. Purple would have been better.

Also what does sjw have to do with anything? This makes no sense.

I like this picture, it's a fun little family portrait. Really dig the expressions everyone has there the most. Sanji looks totally miserable and it's like not only are his siblings aware of that, they find amusement in it.

Is the Shanks rule. Oda hasn't "colored" (filled in) any red haired person except for shanks, Ever. Notable with Kid and Calgara and now Ichiji. It's a consistent but arbitrary rule.

I'm pretty sure Oda's choices when it comes to inking clothes in like that have more to do with giving weight to the character model and making sure they stand out than it does reflecting the actual intended tone. Look at how Pekoms and Tamago's bright pink suits are inked right in. Or how Nami's white top for Zou is coloured black in the actual comic. Luffy's red shirt is usually black in the comic, but when he changes into his Totland outfit, with shorts of almost the same colour, the shorts are left white.

Or back to Zou, where on the cover of volume 81 Sanji's jacket and shorts are different colours, and the jacket is about the same colour as Chopper's helmet. And yet, look at how they're inked:

(it's small because I was having a hard time finding a panel that showed all of Sanji's body and Chopper, but the use of black space on their designs is consistent throughout all the Zou flashbacks.)

Oda cares more about the black/white balance of the character model than adherence to actual colours. I wouldn't worry about it.

This is hardly a new thing, either. On the cover of volume 2 Buggy's hat, coat, scarf and waist sash are all about the same shade of orange, but in black and white, the hat and coat are black while the scarf and sash stay white. It's just not worth overthinking connections between ink used and canon colours.

Also, the mentioned precedent for Shanks being the only redhead who gets anything other than white space.

I mean I have no problem with the colour schemes but the colouring feels like its done with a dirty brush and murky paint water. Maybe its just the weird shade of gold Oda used to colour their hair.

That is not the official Oda-approved volume cover. It's a fan-edit. Reiji is supposed to have pink hair, Ichiji has red hair, Niji has blue hair, and Yonji has green. This follows accordingly with their color-themed nicknames.

Yep, good thing they are not blondes. They would look too much like sanji's clones, reiju already looks like ivankov changed sanji's gender.

The question is, will Zoro and Yonji ever meet? What will their reaction be? That would be one awkward moment….

It's quite likely that their hair is an exterior manifestation of their genetic enhancements. Plus blonde hair doesn't go with their outfits nearly as well.

This blonde recoloring is nice and it makes sense given the fact that they're all related to Mr. Nosebleed Cook, but I prefer the colored hair 'cause just like I and Count said before, it matches their epithets.

I really did think they were blonde all along, and that Oda gave them different hairstyles as a very simple way to set them apart from each other.

I think the reason people are surprised is because of the overwhelming amounts of fan art depicting them with blonde hair, them being blonde was carved in our brains, it was like the only confirmed thing for their appearance, and it turns out it's something totally different, which freaks us out.

Actually, I don't search for fanart much these days.
I got the blonde impression simply from reading the manga and making (what I personally thought was) a rational assumption.

Yeah it was a pretty easy assumption that they were all blonde, especially considering Sanji's hair color and Judge's hair resembling a lion's mane. But I think it reached the point that it became so ingrained in people's minds that they weren't willing to accept any deviation from it.

I'm shocked people thought they'd be blonde.

When it was confirmed that Sanji wasn't 'blue' that basically locked them into having different colors.

Even wrote about it. Can't remember if it was for the site or VJump though.
