Davy Back Fight against a Yonkou

Maybe is a little crazy thread and theory but… Oda a long time ago he introduced us with that concept beeing the fastest
way to win a crew member or a full crew. What if Nami propose that to Big Mom in order to get back Sanji and Jimbei?
Or even better, to win all the Big Mom crew for Luffy and free all the souls? Luffy is outnumbered now ( even with bonney buggy etc...) and even with new reinforcements i think it would be hard
to win against her.

I've seen this theory thrown around before. I personally would be all for it. I really doubt Luffy has the forces or power necessary to beat Big Mom at the moment. Plus, she seems to be a fan of games and whatnot considering the roulette she did with Jinbe and her whole "give and take something of equal value" dogma.

I would laugh my ass off if Foxy showed up to the Tea Party as a Big Mom ally, by the way lol.

I bet he'd accept before breaking every single rule just to see what this "Davy Jones" would do to him.

You're assuming that they have to play those same three games though. There's probably a lot more pirate games than that, and if one of the Straw Hats declares the Davy Back Fight, they might even get to dictate which games to play for their favor.

Not that I think this is likely to happen, but participating in pirate games leaves room for a lot of manuverability regardless of how strong Big Mom's crew is than a straight-up fight. In fact, didn't the Swirly Hats counter Big Mom's ship's cannonball onslaught and critically damage it at the end of Dressrosa when Tamago and Bege were on board? They deserve more credit.

A concept that makes absolutely no sense, was never seen nor heard of since it was used and that no criminal overlords would ever honor or entertain for even a second.

Big Mom: a person that kills her own children just because she's hungry and would murder your friends and relatives then send you their heads just because you didn't come to her teaparty. Sure, she sounds like someone that would honor some random pirate olympics and meekly give away crew and resources to random upstarts that just wander in and challenge her.

Who says they are going to take the flag? Now it's a another level we are not talking about a stupid crew like Foxy. They can simply take Jimbei and Sanji. The plan is not the destroy Big Mom but to take the copy of the Poneglyph and take bring back Sanji and after Jimbei. The Davy Back Fight was a concept introduced by Oda (and a full arc) so it would be strange if he didn't talk about it again or about the famous Pirate Island.

What is clear is that same kind of game is going to happen.

Man I would absolutely love for a Davy Back Fight to go on between the Big Mom's and the Straw Hats! I kept imagining some sort of outrageous contest would be the main event beyond a traditional fight. A DBF with all kinds of crazy games would satisfy that entirely for me!

Jinbe approached her about leaving her crew without being eviscerated on the spot for treason by allowing him to spin a roulette of what I assume to be dismemberment as a "fair exchange". She was also persuaded not to destroy Fishman Islamd and focus her wrath on the Straw Hats by being entettained by Luffy's audacity.

Big Mom seems to be a big believer in everybody pursuing their honest selfish desires and respecting it as a philosophy. If/when Luffy survives the Seducing Woods and maybe beats Cracker (if he's not down for the count already), I can see Big Mom being amused by the while turn of events by acknkwledging Luffy's surprising willpower and resolve by agreeing to win their crew members in a Davy Back Fight. Big Mom's a homicidal monster, but has her own perverse set of morals that make her more pragmatic to reason with compared to Kaido's crew, whi seem to find any excuse they can to wreak destruction and genocide

True, and Luffy probably wouldn't want to beat Big Mom in this way, but if the Strawhats can win back Jimbei and Sanji through games, then that opens up the possibility of other crews beating the Big Mom Pirates by choosing to take their flag.
You'd wonder why nobody has ever attempted it if such a thing were possible.

True, but what kind of win can she gain that actually outweights the potential loss? Just imagine if the Strawhats win one round (like the second-to-last one) and demand Big Mom herself.

Though, she could do something like determine the potential winning prize for the Strawhats beforehand.

I think shes a gambler and wants to play with people. That's why Nami is with Luffy, shes the most intelligent in this crew and knows how to win a fight tricking the enemy also with games and strategies.

Imagine a game where you have:

Eating contest: MOM/Commander VS LUFFY
Soul contest: MOM/Commander VS BROOK
Monster Contest: MOM/MONSTER VS CHOPPER
Cooking Contest: Cracker (I imagine him cooking with 1000 arms) VS Sanji
Other Contest: Pedro and the Bunny

And also while those contests are made, Nami can try to steal and copy the PoneGlyph!

I was going to mention this in a reply to Bartholomew. Oda made it a point to not just have the Road Poneglyph be one of the main objectives in this arc, but also threw in the Poneglyph Jinbe found as well. Big Mom is clearly interested in them, but even explicitly mentioned that she can't read them while talking to Jinbe. While Robin may not be on the island, there could be "all in one" conditions for the final match where if the Straw Hats lose, then the whole crew has to become Big Mom allies. Brûlée also mentioned that Big Mom would like to recruit a creature as bizarre as Chopper, so that's also something that Big Mom could be interested in wanting besides just Sanji and Robin.

Also, something interesting to mention is that if the Davy Back Fight happens before the wedding, TECHNICALLY, Sanji isn't allied with Big Mom yet due to not being married and can be allowed to play for the Straw Hats. Jinbe would be stuck with Big Mom for sure though.

When I asked what she can gain I also thought that she had other means to gain it, however I forgot one thing.

Robin is completely worthless if you do not get her loyalty as well - as perfectly seen back in Alabasta. However, a Davy Back Fight might be the perfect opportunity to get Robin in a way that she'll actually be helpful.

Therefore I see, a Davy Back Fight indeed might be a win-win situation for both parties here.

It comes down to how many crewmates can Luffy lose, recoup, and gain. Perhaps change it to 5 vs 5. They lost once last time with Chopper. Lose and recoup Chopper again is 2 rounds. I would find it amusing if they lost Chopper twice.
Then win 3 rounds: win Sanji's freedom, Jinbe as crewmate, and…Fishman Island...I guess.

What if Pekoms was won by Big Mom in Davy Back?

Round 1) Hunting Contest; Nami, Pedro, Carrot vs Bobbin, Cracker, Jinbe
Round 2) Cooking Contest; Sanji, Brook, Chopper vs Pudding, Tamago, Unknown Sweet Commander
Round 3) Eating Contest; Luffy vs Big Mom

Of course fighting and cheating will happen in said rounds.

Don't you think that having the concept come back with participants as relevant as an actual Yonko crew and having some of he highest personal stakes we've seen in the series thus far could actually subvert why you didn't like how the Davy Back Fight was used in the first place though? You can still feel free to dislike the original arc and hold the opinion that pirate games are boring to you, but having the Davy Back Fight appear in this arc actually helps alleviate the complaints I bolded and underlined.

You got a Point there. Unfortunately no one told Toei about that. They brought Foxy back 2 or 3 times in filler episodes or Specials.
There has not to be a DBF for Luffy to win his nakama back. He could win Sanji and Jinbe by that strange wheel Jinbe had to Play. Where you can lose your limbs or your head. Luffy would risk any of those if he gets his friends back.

Oda would have to try reeeeeeaaal hard to find three games that the Sanji retrieval alliance could logically win against a vast, diverse, and extremely powerful pirate crew, and that the Big Mom Pirates would even agree to in the first place.

I doubt we'll ever see Davy Back Fight ever again in the series. It was mostly to set up the idea of "losing your crew members" before that actually happened with Usopp and Robin in W7.

With how dark the story is becoming in recent times I don't see it happening but hey if there was a version with a spin on it that upped the stakes to a violent level with lives on the line and shit I can see it happening. If Big Mom ever agreed to something like this there will be blood on the line and with how uncertain games can be I don't think Luffy would even risk it, his way of settling things is via brute force, he won't leave stuff like this to chance. Just my two cents, though I'm all for some fun and games. Whatever happens this arc though it's going to be epic. Can't wait to see what happened with Jinbei.

I'd actually be down for someone like Buggy to be taking part in this now he's lost such valuable fighters as Harujadin and his giant allies.

Could be a fun way to get some more ex antagonists onto Buggy's team alongside Alvida and Mr. 3.

Caesar is creating a Giant Potion so that can increase Luffy power in a "supposed" final attack vs Big Mom.

Luffy and co can use them (or take a more "safe" evolution thanks to Chopper and his skills) in order to win the games or to win vs Big Mom.

Caesar can help only to defeat Big Mom and giving them some power up item in secret. The treasure can be opened during the banquet celebration and then Chopper can steal some of the pills during the explotion or someone else.
