This and Kimetsu are the two young series I bring up as counter argument when someone (who is probably at least a decade younger than me, pretending to wear rose-tinted glasses lol) makes a claim that WSJ has fallen from the grace and no longer interesting.
You put Kimetsu over MHA? I'm really trying to like it, but I really can't find its charm. It's not that I dislike it, but the art is still very rough, even after 60+ chapters, the comedy just falls flat to me most of the time, and the story's overall goal is still murky and undefined. Yeah, defeat this evil guy who creates the demons and so, but… The story arcs are still very short, character development is sporadic. Honestly, I've just been reading it as a generic "traditional Japan" shonen series. The only thing that's captivated me so far, in terms of differentiating it from other stories is the guy who wears a friggin' cool as hell PIG MASK and the benevolent cute demon who has to live inside a crate transported by her brother. Nezuko and Tanjirou's relationship has also been very sweet to see. Oh, and that side chapter about that swordswoman's backstory was damn great.
But WSJ is pretty fine for now. MHA, Promised Neverland, Kimetsu no Yaiba, Shokugeki no Soma (which I just love), even Black Clover, which is an even more typical shonen series than Kimetsu, I think, is a fun little story which has been relatively successful (correct me if I'm wrong here). The new Robot x Laserbeam is also cool, never thought I'd like a sports manga, especially golf! There were some pretty bad series starting in the last couple of years that thankfully got axed, but these I mentioned seem to have a great deal of potential to carry the magazine for the next decade or so (of course, with OP as the cash cow for this time). Oh, and World Trigger. Damn shame the author is still too sick to draw.

Fair enough. When I look at WSJ's roster and see OP, HxH (lol) and Gintama, and then every other series having started since 2012, I can't help but feel that they're all young…

Late to the party, but I'm very much digging this series. I shotgunned the entire thing yesterday based on a friend's recommendation, and was not disappointed.
Now, where will the story go next?

I hope Ashihara from WT IS drawing right now, just very slowly, waiting for the time a manga gets axed so that he can get back into the magazine but then having some already written chapters as cushion for the coming weeks and months. It has been quite some time since the last chapter…

Glad you liked it. As for the story I think next the kids gotta escape the
! demon dogs shown in spoiler pics. And since they have only one pen-navigator they can't split up. Will be interesting to see how they will escape. The river they had intented as first goal will likely play a role in that.

I think the demon hunter with his goons is still half or a whole day away from the kids, they just entered the forest's edge. What Emma noticed at the end was probably one or several of those wild lowly organism the demon hunter was talking about. And the way he talked about how he and the other demons can't let anybody eat any of those children might mean that eating children or their brains at least is something equal to a power-up for demons. Like the more brains you eat the higher your power/might/rank roses or something like that. Eating kids seems to be more than just a simple luxurious food and festival sacrifice production.

Maybe Minerva in his book already considered the possibility of the children being chased by the demons and he already thought up a counter strategy, they could use at their advantage the wild ecosystem of the forest against them, both the vegetation and those animals that were shown eaten by the plant.
I love this series. I really, really hope there won't be any sort of "training" to fight the demons or some other battle-shonen style bullshit fighting techniques in the future, but that everything would always essentialy revolve around tactics alone.

Only one demon is shown on that last panel. If the kids are lucky the demons splitted up throughout the forest so they'll have to deal with only one of them, plus they've been told to not kill the "top quality goods" Emma and Ray but only to catch them and this may give the group some advantage. If there's really only one of them it's not impossible they can survive this on their own, Minerva could have already predicted this situation would happen and have written some similar situation on his adventure book, which Emma will promptly remember.
Otherwise there would be need of an external help, but i think it would be best if they reached their destination on their own. -

It could be one of the beasts, but the hands and claws looks exactly just like those of the demons, and maybe when they open their mouths/jaws their mask-like face retreat behind and is not shown on the front, plus they have been shown to have different looks from each others even between the low ranks.

Good catch about the hairs. Rethinking about it it's likely just a beast, but i'd really like to see at least one of the demons catching up to them later.

Maybe its natural prey are slower than the kids and has a more predictable fleeing pattern. The demon seems to have some level of camouflage so it might rely primarily on that.
I think it's native to the forest. If the forest had been more like Earth then it'd definitely be planted there, but this forest seems to be either a mutated earth forest or completely alien.

I don't see them letting the kids go easily either. For his sake I hope the author keeps this one short because we are only just transiting to a survival adventure.
Of course there's an idea of an alliance/temporary assistance but we'll see. -
Well, now we have the possibility of two rival factions. One that obviously farms children for food (high-quality food), and the other that . . . we don't know. All we know is that they helped the kids get away from the first.

I don't think the two demons are really slave trader. If they really do , all the children definitely won't have chances to escape

Bringing up my post from August of last year when the series had just started.
Also curious to see if they're gonna simply demonize the entire demon species, or take the "eating humans is enjoyed by small percentile of filthy rich" route.
I personally prefer the more complex approach rather than portray an entire species of intelligent beings as convenient evil monsters.
