please don't get mad at me for what im about to say, i don't like giving false complements because i think they hurt more than just saying the truth.
your drawings are not… up to bar.
the perspective is not being conveyed at all, so there's no depth, no specific angle, and no distance being shown. the anatomy is also very inconsistent, your characters have weird looking limps and poses.
for now you may want to stay away from drawing humans and try to draw objects to get yourself more experience in perspective, after that you can move on with anatomy.
use these two great tutorials:
http://willkempartschool.com/perspective-drawing-for-beginners/
http://design.tutsplus.com/articles/human-anatomy-fundamentals-learning-to-see-and-draw-energy–vector-17027
if i angered you, im sorry. feel free to ignore my post, im nothing but a random dude on the internet so my opinion should be very inconsequential to you. -
Criticism like this is far more helpful than random compliments. So I'm not upset at all :) I know I have a ways to go, I'm definitely not consistent to be sure. I'll take a look at the tutorials and see what they can do to help me improve.
As for not drawing people…perhaps I shouldn't but at the same time that's what I enjoy the most. So I will probably continue doing that even as I continue to improve myself.
Completely right about things looking flat too. I am not good at shading at all, and have been scared to try it on some drawings. Some of them, such as my fan art for the webcomic, is meant to be flat colored because that's how I started them, and will become a complete picture together, though my inconsistencies might make that look odd, and I will find out once I get to that point.
Again, than you for the unbiased looknat my drawings :) -
no, thank you for being such a lovely person :)
and im sorry, you're completely right. i had no right to tell you not to draw what you like, after all, what good is a hobby if it stops being fun?
with a mind set like that you'll definitely be a great artist :D -
For now, that's what it is, a hobby that I truly enjoy. I started about 5 months ago when someone on Deviant Art asked why my page was empty. Told me I should try drawing something, no matter how it turned out. And I did, and I loved it, just like I loved it 20 years ago. So I do what I can and am amazed at my own results. I might not be an amazing artist compared to others, but I feel amazing compared to what I drew a few months ago, before practicing and learning some techniques. I'll only continue to improve from here, and I want to share that journey with anyone who wants to follow me on it :)
-
I think your art is super cute :) keep up that passion and good work!
-
Thanks! I'm happy to see when people enjoy seeing it as much as I enjoy drawing it :)

This is part of my ongoing fan art project for my friend Jocelyn Samara, who draws a wonderful webcomic named Rain. If you have never read it, some of the comments below might seem odd. I started this doing flat coloring, that is, no real shading, so the rest of the characters will be flat colored as well.
Colin was originally going to be someone else, but after talking about it with Jocelyn, her suggestion is what I went with. She said something along the lines of "Colin is pretty much a bit part in the story, to do something specific, like Banon was."
So, he became Banon. And maybe didn't try too hard with the hair, just getting an orange beard and not bothering to dye his own hair. The nerve! But then again, despite Colin being in the industry, he doesn't seem like he'd go all out with a cosplay either.
I think too many FF6 characters wear capes.
Colin is from the webcomic Rain and belongs to Jocelyn Samara (jocelynsamara.deviantart.com) and Banon's outfit belongs to Square-Enix.!

I am proud of you for how well you progressed in your art! I remember seeing your first pieces, and thinking you need a lot of work. And now, you are getting better and better with each piece! Though I really need to start drawing again… maybe one of these days o.o
Anyways, keep up the great work! :3

Thanks Ekila!
Next picture is up too, Ana from the webcomic Rain as Celes Chere from FF6.

While a friend of mine isn't directly responsible for this, a conversation with her put me in the mood to play The Guardian Legend on the NES again. After playing through it, I wanted to draw the Guardian.
I love this game for several reasons. One, it's an amazing game, with exploration and shmup elements. Two, while it's mostly item based, there is leveling progression as well. Three, and maybe most important, it's the first game I remember playing where I knew the main character was a girl. (Sorry Samus.)
As for the name, I originally thought it was Alyssa due to some websites and other fan art I viewed while collecting references for the picture. My friend said that didn't seem like a proper name, and further research led me to find her name listed in the Japanese instruction manual was Miria. Technichally she has no name and is only referred to as "The Guardian" however.
Hope you all enjoy my nostalgia trip

Maria is here, stoically posing as Shadow. What is she looking at, I wonder?
Maria is from the webcomic Rain, which belongs to Jocelyn Samara (http://jocelynsamara.deviantart.com) and Shadow's outfit belongs to Square-Enix.

I decided to draw myself a new avatar. As much as I love Plutia, and wish I could be like her, I'm more like Murasaki.
Murasaki is from Senran Kagura, and belongs to Marvelous AQL and Tamsoft.

It's been hot here lately. Like, "sweat on my tablet when I draw" hot. But if Jocelyn Samara can draw something and can't even really sit, my concerns are pretty minimal XD
So, Vincent as Cyan Garamonde! While story-ish it doesn't fit much, I can imagine Vincent as a manly man like Cyan. Noble, brave, and willing to put it all on the line if needed. At least, now he can! Plus, the fake mustache would be fun for Vincent I'm sure :)
Vincent is from the webcomic Rain and belongs to Jocelyn Samara (http://jocelynsamara.deviantart.com), and Cyan's costume belongs to Square-Enix.

Not bad! I liked what I saw on your deviantart profile. I'm not an artist, I can't draw but I really think you did great. And we can see the progress too. Keep on working hard and you'll get better in no time! ;)

Why, thank you! I will continue improving myself so I hope you will continue to watch ^_^

So I was watching a game called Cally's Caves 3 on Steam for a while. It went on sale and I bought it, and I really love it XD Cally is cute, the leveling system is extremely fun, and I just like the game in general XD
There is a demo so if you have Steam I recommend you give it a try!
Cally is from Cally's Caves and belongs to VDO Games.!

Drew a few things as practice. Some of them turned out pretty good. One is Luffy :p

Devon as General Leo, from Final Fantasy 6.
Devon is from the webcomic Rain and belongs to Jocelyn Samara (http://jocelynsamara.deviantart.com), and Leo's outfit belongs to Square-Enix.

I wanted to draw something for my friend who requested something from RWBY. We both identify with Blake, and our favorite character is Weiss, so I decided to draw them both. The red wall between then signifies the distance I feel between them. But at the same time, their similar pose signifies how close they can be no matter the distance.
Art belongs to me. Weiss and Blake are from RWBY and belong to Rooster Teeth.!

So I'm sitting around, wanting to draw something but not specifically work on my art project, when I just decided to draw my character from PSO2 again. This time with a reference and, you know, some reliable technique. I am sure you agree this one is far better
In case you forgot (I don't mind if you did!) here's the original from 10 months ago. http://serrabritt.deviantart.com/…/Melonia-drawing-595715132
Art and character idea belongs to me.!

Hey Serra,
I think these are great, really great. Hopefully some day I'll be able to draw my own avatar! -
Hey Serra,
I think these are great, really great. Hopefully some day I'll be able to draw my own avatar! Thanks! I would say if you want to draw your own avatar, to just keep at it, keep practicing, and eventually you will get to a point where you feel comfortable with the drawings you make. Most important part is to not give up and just DO it!

Several months ago, I got inspired to draw a webcomic. At the advice of my friend, I have been planning out the story into the future, and also drawing a starter backlog so if I bite off more than I can chew, at least I'll have enough saved up that I can wing it until I get more stabilized. So, now, why a webcomic you might ask? Seems this is something I have wanted for a while. When I write short stories, the chapters always some out pretty short. So a webcomic would be better suited to the length. And until about a year ago, I figured that I would have to collaborate with a "real artist" to make this happen, and that didn't feel right so I really didn't look for anyone. Of course, now I know I actually can draw, so that obstacle is out of the way XD
But again, why a webcomic? It's a lot of work. And to tell the story I have in mind, it will probably take years for such a project. If I'm going to be honest here, I'm good at committing myself to things, but bad at following through. I WANT TO CHANGE THIS. Is this the best way? We'll see. I want to believe it is.
So as to the webcomic! From my page here you can see a couple people. Rosa, which I introduced a few weeks ago, and a man who has a name but will remain shrouded in mystery for now. Rosa is a detective from Las Vegas and finds her way into another world, with completely different rules of reality. Or are they? Rosa actually doesn't see a difference except for the people of the world being confused by what she sees as normal, everyday occurrences. So what's happening? Will she manage to figure it out? And will she get home?
Now that you are all excited, I suppose you are wondering when this will happen. I have not been working at it on the speed I was originally hoping. So my prep is only about halfway done. However, if I keep the pace I'd like to do, we are looking at about two months. Maybe faster if enough people show interest? Despite the fact that I am writing this for my benefit, part of that benefit is to share it, because I feel like I have an amazing story to tell. Hopefully, you will all agree :)

Good luck, Serra!
Been hoping to make my own web comic some day!
-
-coughs-
I'm not dead. I have, in fact, been posting my webcomic (over 30 pages! Woo!)
But hey, sometimes I draw other stuff too.
First would be a drawing for my friend Sephy. I drew her fursona as a thank you for her drawing mine.
!
And second, a drawing for a craft project group I joined. September theme was zombies!!
-
Yay! You posted again in this thread! :D (Last time you update here was on my birthday .-.)
-seen the recent artwork you posted already-
Hopefully, you update your web comic pages here too! :D
-
That looks nice!!! I wish I could do the same. Which tool do you use to draw???
-
there is definitely quite an improvement - characters get more of three-dimensional feel.

I use an inexpensive Turcom tablet (pressure sensitive) and Clip Studio Paint for the majority of my artwork nowadays. Thanks for the praise too, I've been slowly improving the more I draw.

I appreciate it. The more I draw, and observe other's art, the better I get myself. I'm quite pleased with it all :)

Such cool designs. Is this your first time designing a comic book?
:D
I think your art looks good. lol

Hey sorry for the super late reply! This is the first time. I had never drawn a comic panel style anything prior to last year. I'm happy to hear that either all my comic reading has been paying off to help figure out layout for mine :)
And I appreciate that you like my art! I'm still trying to improve ^_^And while I'm here, I have some non-comic art for you all~

OMG! It's Zelda. :)
-
Happy to hear that you knew who it was without me having to say so :D

Yeah, I got scolded by you last night .-.

Drew another picture recently. I have some friends on an avatar forum "Kingdom of Knuffel" and I wanted to draw their avatar. This is what I ended up posting.
!
-
Nice arms. :)
Looks pretty good.
-
Thanks!
I actually wish I had made the hands a little bigger. But then again I drew the head extra large in the same style as the avatars there, so that probably contributes to it.
-
Because I'm a slave to trends (or am I?)
The current characters in my webcomic wearing swimsuits.!

Been a while since I've posted anything. En Masse did a contest recently to draw fan art for a newly released character, Bai Winchester. I didn't win, but I'm still quite pleased with what I drew.
