This character tournament is a tournament of memes and gags. A gag character winning this whole thing embodies what this tournament stands for. Yeah, it probably won't happen because 'some' people take this tournament more seriously than they should, but meh.

I wonder how they make it past the first few rounds every tournament and make it to the latter stages, most probably because everyone shares your sentiment, oh wait, they don't. This tournament is a tournament of memes and gags? No , this tournament's campaigns are made of memes and gags doesn't mean the characters themselves have to be gag characters. I get it, you like sounding like a special snowflake, I'm happy for you. Luffy vs Law is an amazing match up, what's not to like? Maybe Oda should remove all the super popular characters so One Piece can truly realize what it's always meant to be a series of gags and memes, week in week out , no wait that sounds extremely stupid a lot like some of your posts. Nothing about my post insinuates that I'm against fun and light hearted ness if you look at the post as a whole. If I was against fun why would I mention characters like Carrot and Nekomamushi?

Different people have different ways of seeing these tournaments, that's only natural. No one "takes this tournament more seriously than they should", because there's no rule that says how seriously it "should" be taken. If someone wants to take it really seriously than that's ok, and if someone else wants to take it all as a big joke than that's ok too. The point is that there are lots of people participating in the tournament, so it's probably best to keep things somewhere in the middle between serious and all jokes (and I think the staff are doing a great job there!). Things like what happened with Satori in the past are hilarious, as long as they don't actually get in the way of how the tournament unfolds. Whether or not Ryuunosuke wins this thing is up to us as participants (personally, I wouldn't really like it, but if the majority wants it, than so be it).

! FB character versus my least favorite strawhat (with the exception of Chopper, maybe….). Seeing how Bellemere has done nothing to make me dislike her makes this vote easier.

This is stupid. I don't like either character that much, but a final between two would've been dandy (seeing how this arc has both front and center).

I'm totally for meme characters winning tournaments and such, but I guess I'm cruel enough that Law and Zoro's lack of care about Ryunosuke was the funniest part of that scene for me. Plus all the campaigns for Ryunosuke have just been saying the same thing over and over again, so I usually vote against him just to try to get rid of those

I haven't used the word 'stupid' in a single post outside this thread in the past two months. If I had, you may have a point, but that's not the case. Why are you bashing me exactly: I just find your taste in characters are in disagreement with mine and nothing more. Besides, in the unlikely case Ryuunosuke wins, at least you can be happy that people will probably be less likely to vote a similar character to the top in future tournaments.

I don't know I just associate your little Blackbeard avatar with negativity, I guess I need to accept that that's just you being you and you're not actually meaning to offend. Honestly though I have read a lot of your posts and they come off rather abrasive, maybe it's just me. I apologize for the bashing. My taste in characters is rather sound, what do you mean just look at who I've voted for in each of the rounds a lot of them are probably similar to yours. Ryuu wiping the floor with some well established characters makes me want to not like him as much as I used to is all, he's obviously great.

Honestly though I have read a lot of your posts and they come off rather abrasive, maybe it's just me. I apologize for the bashing. My taste in characters is rather sound, what do you mean just look at who I've voted for in each of the rounds a lot of them are probably similar to yours. Ryuu wiping the floor with some well established characters makes me want to not like him as much as I used to is all, he's obviously great.
In real life, I'm known to be very blunt, to the point of being rude, so that side of me rubbing off on my internet persona is kind of understandable, so I'll take your word for it. I really, really like to swear (IRL and on the internet), so I imagine that further exacerbates the negative vibe you get from me and my avatar.
I will admit I also had some unreasonably petty biases against you as a forum goer (long story short, it had something to do with Sabo), but I have outgrown my hatred of the character, and fortunately, those biases against you have seem to mostly left with the Sabo hate.
By the way, the bashing isn't a big deal, but you probably should refrain from doing so against myself and others in the future.

Haha I was sensing that someone was coming after me and believe me I've butted heads with a lot of forum goers here I think it's because I have this tendency to state my opinions in a matter of fact way but I've long since tried to reign in on that side of me. Strangely enough, the reasons I've butted heads with people on this forum was because of Sabo, more specifically Sabo v Burgess, you can imagine I had a field trip when Sabo kicked his teeth in. I'm not as active as I'd like to be on this forum heck any friend I ever made on here got banned. I like to think we're setting our differences aside from this point on and I can definitely be more respectful towards others I think what made me go after you was because you have been coming after me for a while now and I've chosen to just shrug it off til now. Quite often I'm amidst the power level discussions too and majority hate those so I can see the bigger picture building up of why I may not be liked around here. But thanks for saying nice things about my avatar, I actually like yours it always reminded me that Blackbeard wasn't always the happy go lucky badass he is today lol.

I was willing to back down on Ryuu in any other case. I like Carrot more then I do Koala. I adore kid Koala just still up in the air about adult her.
Other two are a toss-up as to who wins. I know who I'm rooting for, but let's see how it plays it -
About Ryuu I don't get why he's considered a meme character at all. Actually, the more I think about it the more I realize how well-written he in fact is. He's no a full-fledged out three-dimensional charcter, sure, but however for a character there are two ways to attract the audience: #1 emit some kind of strength #2 make them laugh over you.
And Ryuu actually fulfills both criteria. Sure, on the one hand he or the whole situation is some kind of joke. However, on the other hand Ryuu also emits some kind of immense strength. What this strength is? His gigantic willpower and ambition. That is it what captures the audience and turns him into a strong figure which even turns him into a positive role model.
He is the living embodiment of what the core of One Piece is. Stand and fight for your dreams and never give up until you finally reach them.
Ryuu and the whole scene is both comic and tragic at the same time. And that's definitely no bad thing.

Ryuu was born into this world only to aid the dreams of others. In his brief and miserable existence he never had the chance to live for himself and could only manage to meekly say his own name. His struggle to even move while carrying others on his back earned him the faintest of praise. For a time his misery will be remembered only as "cute" and even that will soon be gone from our memories.

As much as I agree that Ryuu was a silly character and in no way could be equal as deeper characters of OP, I proudly say it was wonderfull to see a "fever dream of 2016 APCT" getting so far in the tournament, I know it won't happen next time.
I doubt that Ryuu would repeat its performance in the next year tournament, it was just a 2016-esque gimmick.
