Woo!
I really wonder if this nostalgia trip Nickelodeon is on will allow them to swallow their pride and shoot for an Invader ZIM movie.
How's this even going to work… It's not like the series ended on some type of cliffhanger, or has any grand mystery revolving around it (though I do like the show). It's not like how Hey Arnold! ended. lol

i feel like that will never happen bc johnen is pretty against revisiting zim as a cartoon iirc
idk what to think of Rocko tho. i never was into the original much but i dont think fans of the original were particularly burning to see a reboot
There's the Zim comic though so Vasquez might be open to a return. I think he disliked the fanbase and Nickelodeon more than tbe actual show.
Far as Rocko goes, ehhhhhhhhh. I just can't see it working without the old writing staff.
New Rocko news. The entire cast of the tv series are coming back for the movie.

Okay, I'm really hyped for the Rocko tv movie now.
I never wanted this, and was happy to let it lie, but I welcome it. I only wonder what horrible, filthy sexual innuendos it'll try to get past the censors this time. I dunno, I think those tacos meant something more then just food.
I'm also a little mad that they used the theme song for the later seasons rather then the song for the first season. I didn't remember I was mad about this, but now I'm mad about it. I hated how they changed the song to something worse. This is basically one huge nostalgia wave for me, and it's bringing back nitpicks that I didn't even remember never mattered.
Lastly, Charlie Adler will never not have a job. Good for him. In the mean time I'm going to try to remember old cartoons trying to figure out what's getting rebooted next. Maybe Shirt Tales? Maybe they'll just reboot Rugrats but make it really, really crappy this time.
I'm still hoping for a Gravedale High reboot. Drag Moranis out of retirement, kicking and screaming, if they have to.
Maybe they'll just reboot Rugrats but make it really, really crappy this time.
Didn't they already try that with Angelica in kindergarten?
And if you're talking any network, how well Ducktales is received will have a big impact. If it's a hit, I'd expect a bunch more Disney Afternoon reboots.
is a Goof Troop reboot starring older max with grandpa goofy completely out there?
Brb, currently screaming.
I LOVED Rocko as a kid.
The animation seems…off.
Other than that, the comedy at least is spot-on, like the show never even left.

People actually liked Shirt Tales?
Now this preview makes it look like a pilot for a reboot. As in they're angling for the actual series to come back.
Also, teh art being different is not too much of a surprise. This looks more clear that Joe Murray is having more influence on the look of the show, so it will look more like Season 1.
In also looks like it will be more in tune with the early season of the show, when Joe Murray had more direct involvement–Rocko struggling to cope with in a modern hell-scape where very little goes right for the little guy. The show veered away from that in later seasons into more random bizarre scenarios.
I always thought it worked for this series because the cartooniness kept it from being too depressing or having it taken too seriously.
This better succeed….not only because i love rocko and all, but it may just add to the possibility of green lighting an invader zim reboot after the movie.
But yeah...the comedy is still spot on which is surprising. Now if only we can get more sexual innuendos which...i dont think there were any in the trailer? (Unless..i missed one?)

I think it's just that it's HD.
Looks great to me. Only question is whether the writing will be good for the whole thing.
…Intro theme aside, just the bgm in that trailer is so subtly effective. A really good decision to reuse the old tracks. Nothing is quite as good at triggering that 1995 feel.
People actually liked Shirt Tales?
…I can't prove or disprove that, but in all likelihood no. I just remembered it now cause it was weird and stupid. On top of their magic shirts and flying car, I'm pretty sure one time they traveled through time to help a crooked billionaire change his life. So yeah, it stuck out to me.
Just saying, this Rocko reboot came out of nowhere for me, so I'm wondering if other weird and obscure reboots are to come. However, I might be giving Rocko less credit than it deserves. For one thing, Rocko's creators are still in the animation game, so it's not a big stretch that they'd make a return. Jeff "Swampy" Marsh is also a creator of Phineas and Ferb, Milo Murphy's Law, and that old Camp Lazlo from a while back. He's a busy guy!
The Bigheads are a given but I hope we see Dr. Hutchinson too.

I'm also hoping for Dr. Hutchinson as well. I'm also hoping we aleast get to see Heffer's Grandpal.

providing that he's still alive after all these years. remember he was pretty old back then.
I wouldn't be surprised if we get most…if not all the major side characters back. I mean...the intro has the guy from Heck and that guy that married filbert and rocko for an episode so...yeah.
Yeah, I noticed Peaches (the guy from heck) in the trailer.

the second guy wasn't the one that married filbert and rocko, that was the horse judge lady. he was the guy who wouldn't stop laughing from the immigration department who was gonna deport Rocko due to a clerical error.
I only remember of a sock puppet judge that turned Rocko into a fly.
Years later…
Well, at least we're finally getting it. The hell Nickelodeon?
The new teaser is getting me more excited for the Rocko speical.
Fairly old news, but spoilers, I guess.
I really liked the special! I probably haven't seen Rockos modern life since the 90s and i wasn't sure if i'd still like it but it made me want to watch some of the old episodes again.
The Rocko special was great. It reminded me why I was big fan of the series back in the 90's.
! The entire cast of the show was great as usual. I didn't mind the Rachel storyline and I thought they handle it really well.
The special was pretty good. My biggest complaint is that the pacing seemed a bit frantic, but otherwise it was pretty true to the original show.
I forgot to mention that I was surpised that they were able to change Chewy Chicken back to its old name, Chokey Chicken in the special.
Like others here, I don't think I've seen anything Rocko's Modern Life since the late 90s. The show seemed to consciously play up on that… But it's Rocko's Modern Life, and I can say that made it feel organic. As I said, I haven't seen the show since the 90s, so I can't say how accurate or how inaccurate it is, but from what I remember as a kid, it felt authentic from the artstyle to the characters, setting, music, etc. It also has a lot of the gross humor that turned me away from shows like it.
It was just quite amusing to see all of these characters that had floated to the very furthest back reaches of my memories just pop up again and I was like "Oooh I remember them!". A weird feeling.
Also
! the reaction of Rocko and his friends when Rachel reveals she has transitioned to a woman is the best reaction. They're just like "Awesome!" and that's the end of it. These three have been floating off in space for twenty years and missed the explosion in visibility and public knowledge of people who are transgender, so they probably have had little to no exposure to the concept and they're just like "Oh? Great, not a problem, Rachel. Back to getting that show started back up". Meanwhile, that contrasts with Mr. Bighead, who has been around, and is a bigot about it. (That is 100% how I'd expect Mr. Bighead to act from how I remembered him, too, so good characterization - unless I remember his character wrong lol, which could be!)
Felt like another episode of Rocko other than all the reboot talk. Rachel's role was well done. There's still so much they didn't have time to touch on like Rocko getting a new job or Filbert's new relationship with his family. Be great if we get a new season.
The special was surprisingly good, although it did bother me a bit to see Rocko turned into a toxic fanboy strawman.
