If neither of them died, then the chain wouldn't have been broken, the twist is that Grey was the one who momentarely died, and Juvia saved him.

And she spent all her strength to save him, supposedly dying in the process. With how the scene was played, that was what Mashima wanted us to believe, with varying degree of incredulous reactions. For all we know, maybe the chains encountered fatal error in programming because they managed to (somehow) violate the absolute rules simultaneously, as both double K.O. and stalemate condition are invalid outcome.

Gajeel supposedly died and came back a few chapters later.
Lucy lost Aquarius' key, but Aquarius then came back without it, saved Lucy, and now she's gone again.
Natsu got a magic cancer tumor. It was healed the next chapter.
One of the most powerful villains in the series, who has a pretty cool power, was taken out by sneezing and then she became a friend. Of course, she was put in jail and bound up first.
Ultear came back to save some people and then she's gone again.
Natsu is E.N.D. and I think he's Zeref's brother or something? I never understood exactly how it went, but they're related somehow.

The show is incredibly bad, it makes me wonder why anyone ever liked it when so much shows are like it except better.

Can someone post a link to when Mashima said he hates worldbuilding/planning? What a hack he is if that's the case. What fucking writer doesn't want to actually build the frame of their fucking story?

That's what worldbuildign is. Creating the environment that allows the story to take place.

Chapter title is about Brandish and Randi, only have Randi appear for the last few pages, forced emotional battle with tons of fanservice, and set-up for character to be at a super disadvantage. Add all that together and you get your classic Fairy Tail chapter.

Fan service is an intrinsic part of Fairy tail, without it it would be nothing. If not for Lucy's boobs and butt Mashima would have never gotten this far so he's sticking to his guns

Ah, my mistake. For some reason I thought the title was Brandi and Randi, and I couldn't remember Dimaria's name. Overall though, I think that mistake isn't as dumb as this chapter, but maybe that's because I don't want to be considered lower than Fairy Tail:ninja:

Fight choreography seemed better than most fights in this Arc.

Looks like Lucy is gonna use CSK dress, and overwhelm Di Maria, i would laugh if she pulls a Jotaro and freezes her.

Totally agree. If anything, your mistake just is proof of the chapter not emotionally connecting as much as it is supposed to.

Whereas I didn't donsider the chapter THAT bad as standalone (compared to the previous one it's a masterpiece), the emotional drama just doesn't work due to the flawed portrayal of Bransish and Dimaria. I mean so Brandish is torn apart between the two fractions? So far okay! But we never got a deeper reasoning for her affiliation to Alvarez and Dimaria aside of she lives there and they know each other and have some kind of relationship. And her affiliation to FT basically stems from having a deep grudge which miraculously got resolved as suddenly as it came up by deus ex aquaria.

She sucks physically & she's always in these contrived predicaments where she's somehow unable to fight. She exists as nothing more than a plot device. This is what happens when you create an overpowered/unbeatable character. Also, can't she just shrink the wounds she got from Dimaria?

Depending on where you left off it's either the same or worse. It was never that great to begin with but ever since the Magical Games it feels like it's even more of a slog to go through.

This is ridiculous. Every time I see a shot like this I'm reminded of the whole "how would Mashima do Robin's I wanna live scene?", and can't help but agree.

Mashima is the lord of ruining whatever slight tiny particle of emotion and dignity he might try to portray in his manga.

*Lucy or whoever the fuck is talking. I mean, Oda has Nami face syndrome, but Mashima is not far behind with the Lucy face.

Mashima just doesnt know how to handle hax unlike Hirohiko, Oda, Togashi, Arakawa.

If you dropped it because you didn't think it was any good, then you minus well not continue. There was a few good moments in the Tartarus arc, but beyond that it's just more moments of looking like everything is against them then sudden victory.

More importantly, he would have very few moments of Robin with the crew, and very few flashbacks, thus making the scene unearned like every other dramatic moment in this goddam show.

Brandish currently serves as Natsu's proxy plot armor, so she can't just die like that even if DiMaria meant to show no mercy. At least not until she fixes Natsu back anyway.

Yeah…it hurts seeing her trounced like this. Especially because it has to happen because of the nature of her powers. Worse yet, this is like the second or third time this has happened. By coincidence, she's the Lucy's of the Spriggan group.

I wish I could get some insight about what kind of empire Alvarez is from the civilians' view. It must be an empire full of lies and shits when the ones in charge are just either amoral, psychotic or nihilistic warmongers.

I guess we can look forward to a chapter filled with bondage torture porn ( in more than one sense ) next week. Honestly, Mashima just need to chill the fuck out. Even the fanservice at this point can't even impress the most lowbrow reader of Fairy Tail anymore, especially since there isn't a situation we haven't seen yet with the hundreds of female characters all having the exact same, ridicolously curvaceous bodytype. I sort of have to compliment him for at the very least keeping Levy sort of petite for some sense of variety.
