comin' at ya like cleopatra
Is there Info about the animal title?
Yay, finally! I was thinking about how long it was taking them to release a new colour walk. I have 1, 2, 3 (Lion) and 6 (Gorilla) so far, so I'll soon be lacking 3 more. Time to save up some money and get this beauty!
I've been wondering these past few days when we are going to be getting a new colour walk book…
Great!
A4? A4? that's huge!
A4? A4? that's huge!
A3 is huge.. A4 in the normal size, is it not?
I always didn't like the A4 format for these art books and the way they layout some of the Colour Spreads. I'd really prefer A3

Yeah, but I mean, compared to B6 volume, A4 is huge.
If ever possible, I'd like it to be on B3 which is the same size as the 2-page spread manuscript. But you know, that's not gonna happen
Are the One Piece Color Walk series like a Wikipedia for the One Piece world? I never brought any of them online and most of them I can't find a single scan of them in English. Is it really that good? Hmm?

Not at all. The Color Walks are collections of color art that Oda has personally drawn. They're filled mostly with color spreads, art that appears on volume covers and Jump covers, and the occasional art used in advertisements. And more I'm probably forgetting.
They also have an interview between Oda and some other person at the back of each book.
Another thing I noticed (that I think is cute) is how on the back cover of every Color Walk, there will be, without fail, an animal dressed in black and white.
Edit: Wait sorry, my "not at all" refers to it being Wikipedia. The Color Walks are amazing to have of just for the color spreads. I have all 6 and am eagerly anticipating number 7.

You should point out that the "random persons" Oda does an interview with are always legendary mangaka.

Indeed, though how much of a selling point that is depends on how much manga you read and whether you can read Japanese.
If you're interested, here's a list of who's been interviewed in which Walk:
Color Walk 1: Akira Toriyama - Author of Dragonball
Color Walk 2: Fujiko Fujio - Author of Doraemon
Color Walk 3: Yoshitaka Amano - Not exactly a mangaka. Illustrator of Final Fantasy.
Color Walk 4: Takashi Yanase - Author of Anpanman.
Color Walk 5: Matsumoto Taiyou - Author of Go! Go! Monster!
Color Walk 6: Jusaburo Tsujimura - Again, not a mangaka. Apparently famous doll maker.

The colorwalks are collections of art. Only the first two were translated into English, and it seems unlikely the rest will be. But outside of the interviews in the back, there is very little text of interest and getting them raw is fine.
The Databooks are collections of information (character birthdays, devil fruits, timelines, and random minutia). They come with colors in their title, like Databook Blue or Databook Green. None of them have been translated.

.
I don't desagree with this but saying Oda has an interview with someone is underselling it and it's a pretty poor explanation.
Since you were explaining what the Color Walks are it felt weird to leave out that detail.
Some of the Color Walks also contain some specials like a postcard (CW 2) or stickers (CW4). I'm only missing Color Walks 3 and 6 (still looking for way to get them at a reasonable price) but HQ scans are available if people are interested. Color Walk 4 was even "scanlated" with an english translation by folks form AP
I got the 2nd in English last year and the 1st one has been out of print for a while now:(. I wish viz would release them all
I'm lucky to be one of the few who still has the first print of the translated Color Walk 1.
It's the same in Germany:
the first two Color Walks have been translated with the first one being out of sale for quite some time now. Had to get my copy off of ebay for twice the original selling price…
Still worth it, they look really amazing!
As for future translations: I was told the first two were a colaboration of the french, german, italian and maybe other publishers of One Piece which was necessary since the bigger format in color and on better paper was more expensive while the sale expectations were much lower, so they printed for all of Europe.
Since the Color Walk 2 is still available in Germany it seems true that they sell not that well, so future releases are at the moment unlikey T.T

A month ago I made a post about that: http://apforums.net/showthread.php?t=40109&page=8&p=3640442&viewfull=1#post3640442
New info :
http://manganewsjapon.com/2016/06/16/details-sur-tyrannosaurus-le-7e-artbook-de-one-piece/
Thank you for the pic!
Color Walk 7 "Tyrannosaurus" will include more than 80 illustrations, a large poster, post card and secret setting sketches. It consists of 118 pages. The price is 1620 yen.
It says Color Walk 7 will have way more beautiful color illustrations than previous Color Walks thanks to a new printing technology.
There will be also an interview between Oda and Masaya Tokuhiro. Oda was an assistant of him before Oda became mangaka. In the interview, it seems Oda will confess something he hesitated to speak for nearly 20 years.
I remember Oda said in another interview ("10th Treasures" 2007) that the crying faces of the characters in Tokuhiro's manga are unbelievably awesome.
Below is 4-koma manga about Oda's anecdote drawn by Tokuhiro.[hide]
Before Oda became mangaka, he felt sad since he wasn't able to get the autograph of Toriyama in a manga competition party.
But thanks to Tokuhiro, Oda could finally get the autograph and take a picture with Toriyama.
Tokuhiro says, "Oda, you're so fearless to pose like that!"

Thanks Sandman for the information provided!
Wow that sounds exciting!
Nice! :D
Thank you so much for that, sandman!
thanks sandman for information :)
I wonder what the large poster is about.
Looks like a very exciting color walk.

I guess it will be similiar to the poster that was published in Shark (about 6xDin A4 pages side by side)
Looks like the first color walk named after a One Piece character (Iceburg's Hamster). Though I'm pretty sure that is a coincidence.
"This is my new Color Walk. It's name is…. Tyrannosaurus."
Yes, it's just continuing the theme of 'Kings' started with 3. Unfortunately it dropped the hidden theme a while back.

The black and white animal on the back cover?
The black and white animal on the back cover?
That can't be it. It's still there even on Gorilla.

The last ever Color Walk should be titled "Kaido"
Anyone know where I could buy a first print copy of this with all the bonuses?
I preordered from cdjapan. It only says limited edition but I assume that means first edition.

came here for this…
looking at CDjapan it's selling for 1500 yen
do you guys think the price will go down in the next 2-3 months?
Will the first edition actually come with any bonuses?

Even on Mandarake the older ones are still around 800-1400 (excluding the mandarake fees and shipping) so doubt you'll see a huge difference

They said the first edition will come with a "special sticker". So it's really not that big of a deal. (source)
Cover page looks great![hide]
[/hide]The large poster as a bonus is revealed to be the color spread in which many Marines in their youth gather in chapter 691. The width of the poster is more than 70cm. [hide]
[/hide]And the color spread drawn on the bonus postcard is the same as the cover page of Color Walk 7.

Oh yes, I love that spread! So happy that it just happens to come out, while I'm in Japan myself. Looking forward to buying it (together with CW 3-6).

I guess this is the biggest version of the Marine Gathering poster/color page we can get so far?
Color cover from official website.

wouldn't it have been big in the issue of wsj?

Why should the price go down? Compared to the release price of Color Walk 1 and 2 in english back then 1500 is not much. The Obata Artbook e.g. is way more expensive. Previous Color Walks still cost nearly the same amount. I preordered COlorwalk 7 for 1620Yen - I think 1500 is a good bargain compared to amazon

Maybe foreshadowing drake joining the straw hat alliance in the future against kaido lol.

I may be mistaken, but this is the first time Oda's drawn dinosaurs (or, at least sentient dinosaurs) on cover pages with the SH's, yeah? Either way, I feel like it should be something that's implemented more often.

idk. If the one released in the wsj issue has the size of 4×B5 paper, then the width is 70.4cm. That sounds similar to Sandman's info. But Color Walk 7 is in the form of A4 that's bigger than B5.
