Bleach Discussion █: Soul Society, but not!

New volume cover.

Next chapter, Ichigo and Ishida's dads gonna do a thing that might don't make any sense but still convenient.
-
This is the year of Renji.
-
-
Welp, guess it's the end. Yhwach was too powerful for even Kubo to find a way to beat him with plot.
-
It is Shaman King all over again.
-
And what better time to end the arc than its exact 200th chapter!
Woooo
-
@Daz:
And what better time to end the arc than its exact 200th chapter!
Math time, redux.
There's 679 numbered chapters. Add in two 0 chapters (how Ichigo met Keigo/Mizuiro and Rukia being sent to Karakura) 13 negative # chapters (Vizard backstory and Hitsugaya backstory), one Hell movie chapter, we have 695 chapters total.
200/695 = 28.8% of the series run. That's over a quarter.
For reference, we're almost at the length of the Arrancar "saga". I think we need 30-40 more chapters, which will probably happen at this rate.
-
@Daz:
Why didn't Ishida just re-reverse the damage. They could literally keep bouncing that shit back and forth forever. And Haschwalds balance is the most unbalanced thing; a balanced distribution of "misfortune" and "Good luck" turns out to mean a completely unscathed Haschwald and a fucked up Ishida, who'd have thought it. Also, balance means to suddenly introduce MOAR ABSTRACT MISFORTUNE into the equation, somehow.
As convoluted as this chapter was, I can probably explain this part.
Haschwald's Balance turns Uryuu's fortune into misfortune, thereby making him reretain the damage he shifted away.
The damage (misfortune) that was shifted to Haschwald is then transferred into his Magic Shield, where he can shoot it back at Uryuu, who still kept the damage from before.
In essence, he multiplied the damage Uryuu took. Uryuu's Antithesis can only reverse damage that has been done, so he can't add more damage to Haschwald. If we assume both characters have equal endurance, Uryuu would die first if he continued the exchange.I'm mildly ashamed I put this much thought into it.
-
@Purple:
Where does Renji fall in terms of the Vinsmoke siblings?
He's the eldest, obviously.
But he had a huge argument with the family and left, going even so far to dye his hair and put tattoos over his eyebrows in order to hide his lineage. Poppa Vinsmoke just pretends he never existed and his next son was his real number one child, so he named him thus.
¯_(ツ)_/¯

Changing future, controling luck, antithesis. If those guys play the lottery together, who would win??
I think if they played the lottery it would no longer exist from all the possible outcomes. If you win the lottery then he will take your good luck and return bad luck to you. Then you switch his good luck with your bad luck, however his trap card activates and reflects the bad luck you switched with him back to you times 10. However then Bach will just change the future and make the lottery that you were winning no longer exist in the first place.
Holy shit was this awful.
We've come to the point where Bach is pretty much unbeatable, so he proceeds to pretty much beat the living tar out of Ichigo, mocking him and us with a "all those times you were able to overcome despair was because I wasn't there hurr hurr i'm so arrogantly powerful" BS.
Don't forget the explanation of powers oh how you could be a threat to Bach because you can possibly defeat him. Oh I can't let you go, why the heck did you even explain that to him. Also I don't know why Bach even bothers to mock Ichigo if he can already see the future and change it. Did you expect Ichigo to surprise you some how. It's like fighting the last boss in a game, but the boss enters a cheat code instead of you.
If Ishida takes Haschwald's shield can't he just return the damage and then reflect that damage back to him tripling the damage Haschwald takes. I have no idea why he needs to get so close to Ishida.
Haschwald's shield more or less is like Ukitake's bankai in the sense it absorbs and redirects what you deal out.

Nothing should have changed this way, and Ishida should still bathe in his own blood as if nothing had happened. However for some reason, the act of "reversing damage" itself counts as a separate trigger that allows Bishiesparkle to reflect "misfortune" that's no longer with him. Where did this additional misfortune come from then?

No idea. If I had to guess, I'd say that maybe the Balance caused the "fortune" that Uryuu could properly control his Antithesis to turn into "misfortune" where Uryuu doesn't use his Antithesis properly, causing him to transfer damage and keep it at the same time.
But I don't think Kubo even thought that far. -
Yhwach is actually an even worse Madara Uchiha, let's put Bleach out of its misery please.
-
More like B for Boring and A for Apathetic.

That makes sense in a way, but still, that additional misfortune had to come from somewhere. I think like Razh said above, if we think these two game-breaking bastards as playing ping-pong, then Bishiesparkle just cheated by somehow servicing two balls at once after receiving just one from Ishida.

"I'm glad you are fighting me, because your ability would be troublesome against Yhwach's. 2 pages later You should know by now your ability is useless against Yhwach."
-
Wait, weren't we told that ishida's A was the Almighty? Or am I remembering things incorrectly?
-
Could it be?
I asked for the manga to end last week and here we are.

Can we even chalk it up as Ishida being incompetent in using his new game-breaking power?
Wait, weren't we told that ishida's A was the Almighty? Or am I remembering things incorrectly?
I think we jumped out to conclusion on that part. It might as well be glistening Red Herring, because Kubo never said anything in regards to multiple individuals sharing same letter, but with completely different words that defined their abilities. It's just Kubo filling down the gaping holes in Sternritters' power concepts, which he's been keeping all vague and abstract, so he can fill it with things that suit the future plots. There's no better sentence that describes this mess other than:
Were you under impression that Ishida's "A" also meant "Almighty" like Yhwach's?
We can partly blame the asspull-ish Lyold/Royd twins that share the exact same word and letter (Yourself), yet with completely different abilities. In fact, Kubo can still make new rule, like an individual sternritter having two or more different abiliies that stem from the same letter because there's no pre-established rules against this.

I am now wondering if it would have been better if letters could have had multiple words associated with them. A-E could have been the top brass and F-Z was just the rest. Sternritters given a letter would be in charge of their own fleet. But then that would mean even more characters for an already bloated cast.

Exactly. Finally I found someone who was thinking the same thing. Haschwald's misfortune is getting that injury and he reflected it. Not sure how did he double the bad luck on Uryuu. Haschwald is not balancing, he is making everything in his favor. Shunsui's shikai games are much better at balancing than this.

I'm actually still confused whether the schrift/letter they're assigned to decides what abilities they have, or their latent ability decides which schrift/letter they're categorized into. From the looks of it, the letters themselves don't mean anything nor sort them in any way. Not to mention, there's no basic mechanisms that tie their powers together as a kind. Even Fullbringers at least tried to explain what they do and how, even if they didn't make any sense.

He's the red headed step child.

I think Yahoo gives them the powers, so it´s the first option.
-
I am just like Gajeel, really.
http://readms.com/r/fairy_tail/491/3499/1 -
Well, it wasn't horrible by any means, but it didn't really feel like anything was going on. We get an explanation about how Gajeel and Zera were there which was unnecessary because you could just say Magic like Gajeel and that's all we really need with this series. I do have to say I liked Zera's initial confidence and how she got scared shortly after that. Also liked Gajeels reaction about now that he's alive and how embarrassed he was confessing his love. Beyond that everything else was just kind of there. The King claiming he would love his daughter no matter what falls flat when the kind was basically a nobody this entire series.
-
The eye spell was awesome.Rest of it was meh.
-
Well, what can I say about this chapter?
So at the beginning we get a large exposition infodump which TWO TIMES explains things purely by coincidence. Besides, the fact that Zera tells way too much in a way too unsubtle way doesn't help to build any actual tension.
Furthermore this chapter - as well as this whole arc/manga - lacks a common thread. It's just a clusterfuck of randomly drawn together scenes without any narrative flow.
I, however, like the animal transformation scene because I have a soft spot for this kind of stuff. Of course, the scene execution is terrible and emotional impact is non-existent. Seriously, the king… did he even appear somewhen before at all? I guess there's no chance that something interesting comes out of this... But, whatever, classic Fairy Tail!
-
hentai tail giving one of the girls magic hentai slime/goo magic then getting her to use it against Mira will she just hold Mira down while the other magic girl has her fun or will it eat away at her clothes find out next week on hentai tail!
-
My main question now is, which animal is fitting best in order to display some nice boobs and some nice ass? And guess who will get transformed into this?

It would be funny if he put a small pumpkin head on the mouse since the king is one that wears the pumpkin head during the games.

Some people have magic to change their forms magic making it useless she will most likely just ally with fairytail because of erza or maybe even heal her still hoping a fight between erza and her mom though.
-
I see. So the king actual appeared and did quite some stuff. I just couldn't remember at all.
-
Nothing to say about his chapter.
However, having just watched High School DxD (I must have been high) I found myself comparing it to Fairy Tail in terms of fanservice. I've come to the conclusion that if the show is up front with it, it is far easier to swallow (giggity) than if it tries to mask it behind a plot. Which is why Fairy Tail is so groan worthy.
-
Is it save to say that Erza's mom will join? She didn't killed or hurt anyone until now. The strongest big bads are all heavily connected to the guild with ambiguous goals. Mashima, the tension. Where is it?
-
I'd like to raise question about what kind of place "Underworld" is in FT and how is it even possible to be dislocated using some worldly magic, but meh. I doubt there will be any consequence apart from making Gazel embarassed of his own last words.
-
Whatever, I'm looking forward to the next chapter! Just satisfy my involuntary animal transformation fetish!
-
Maybe it would've more impact if the king was also morphed, into a cat. See if he can still say that idealistic (wait, he won't be able to) or fight his predator instinct to prove his point.
-

Well we will not find out what the underworld is since he did not go there since he got effected Erza's mom magic before he could go in and she pretty much teleported everyone into random places and made the world smaller.

That would have been pretty lol.

Be prepared Bleach fans since its final count down has started (but the number is covered by black ink)

Is that a sharingan.

I am kind of sad. This countdown will certainly boost sales though.
Well I hope we are 2/3 done with this arc and there is 100 chapters left, so around 2 years/10 volumes.
I would call 1/3 of this arc first clash of Ichigo and Bach, now we had second one.
Third act with big juicy flashback of prime Yamamoto Quincy genocide, Grimmjaw has to show his Sequnda Etapa, quite few characters have to show off their bankai and we have to see conclusion to Aizen story.
Solid 100 chapters material.

Assuming Kubo will want to tie all the loose ends. Maybe he just won't feel like it.
-
Assuming Kubo will want to tie all the loose ends. Maybe he just won't feel like it.
That would quite suck.
Plenty material to cover left. It would be pointless to keep some characters "at bay" for so long not to use them, especially as we were given show off of some long awaited Bankai powers. Kubo should not finish before showing flashback of previous Bach vs Yamamoto fight(and in General SS from back then).
Also not using at all Royal Guards - Squad 0 - feels like a total waste with them being hinted to be an absolute peak of what Shinigamis can become.
If there is really 20 chapters left then it is finale for conflict with Bach/ or this "second act" of this arc. There is still quite few days left till end of countdown that was mentioned earlier, for "end".
-
Just sayin'. We also waited to see Ukitake's Bankai, but Kubo disposed of him. Him having god's arm inside wasn't really crucial to the plot. I remember Kubo said in an interview that Ukitake's sickness won't bother him any more (right when the war started). Sure ain't bothering him now.
I'm not overly optimistic regarding everything being tied up, considering Kubo sometimes just drops set plotlines half way.
-
I give it probably 2 months. I don't really see them hyping up the ending now if there was still like 6 months worth of chapters left.
-
To Pure White….
http://readms.com/r/bleach/680/3501/1 -
"THE END 2" That's not how endings work, Kubo.
-
Holy shit, that was bad.
The only things I liked were the cover and the way Hasch's face was drawn in that big panel.
Quincy are too broken to beat? Nm, Bach will just absorb them. Good riddance, my friends! Take notes, aspiring writers.
-
How can bach absorb hollow powers when those literally are the antigenes to quincies
