All I can say about that color page is HOLY THICC THIGHS BATMAN.
Bleach Discussion █: Soul Society, but not!

Kubo can do great things as long as he doesn't have enough time to ruin them (reason why his best characters are the short-lived ones), so this could be good.
-
I wouldn't mind having Kubo as a character designer. Just keep him as far away as possible from the writing process. Like Trigger.
-
I wish his characters didn't suffer from essentially the same face with varied expressions. In the beginning it was fine but around HM everyone started looking the same.
-
@Purple:
Byakuya but actually a girl
!

Even got that weird hair accessory….What's with notable authors coming back and reusing the same designs? Lol.

Did you even click the link lol.
I'm excited.
Also Bleach is really the least at fault for copypasta character design. -
I'm excited to see what Kubo's cooked up this time.
I don't mean it
completelysarcastically, it's been a while. -

When you have a recognizable art style things will end up looking similar.
Especially if you use the "best looking" designs for the main characters of a manga of the same genre. -
But seriously it's Byakuya but actually a girl

It looks like there going to be one shot for Bleach in Issue 33 as well (same issue which Burn the Witch going to release), called Bleach to Boku.
However, this one shot is by Hasegawa Tomohiro (author of Spring Weapon Number One) not by Kubo, himself. So, it is most likely be comedy one shot.
-
where is my Rukia sequel
-
So if this is right apparently Burn the Witch takes place in Bleach universe because:
! This is the western branch of Soul Society. And the world will not end–----

S](https://www.reddit.com/r/bleach/comments/8y52y1/burn_the_witch_spoilers/)o Kubo rips off Yu Yu Hakusho and now Harry Potter?
Huge salt till true though, since it just from reddit.
-
While I love calling Kubo a hack:
His original concept of Bleach was of cowboy grim reapers, with puryfing guns. A highly bureocratic other world wasn't invented by Togashi, and I doubt that even Toriyama.
JKRowling didn't invent the "secret academy" or did anything ingenious for wizardfolk, she did it ok, and tried to update it to the 20th century (while we ended reading it in the 21th. Time has turned wondrous items like the marauder map, the talking pictures, or any comunication device into pale shadows of smartphones.
Meaning: I invite you to not burn him because lack of originality, but his true weaknesess, overuse of "space", lack of propper pacing, characters with innane motivations, the protagonist becoming a ball of manbearpigness, popular villains being redeemed offscreen, standar shonen sexism, universal sameface syndrome, being too clever for his own good, being too vague for his own good, being too explicit for his own good, creating needleslly large villain groups while under a deadline, making too many characters in order to get his creative juice flowing, lack of humbleness, using color pages to draw people in black clothes in white environments, selecting Polpo as the best Jojo character, lack of humilty, and I bet he smells.
-
The translation I hope is way off…It sounds like he's trying to make pervy stuff more central.

! This….basically seems like Bleach with a dash of Harry Potter. Like dragons are cool as heck but why do they have to be tied to death and not being seen, that's...just repeating what Hollows were. The "older brother" thing already seems to be a repeat of Sora Inoue.
But I suppose it'd be fine if Kubo takes the world and story in a different direction.
! Western branch of Soul Society? I don't like that idea at all. It's a new series, and I think the author should start anew from the drawing board, not wink as hard as he can to readers of Bleach. Like DB had Dr. Slump characters but only for a chapter or two for a quick gag. And I'm pretty sure Fairy Tail didn't star Rave characters running around?
! Basically, it undermines this new story if it has to make up for Bleach's own shoddy worldbuilding. Perhaps the line is just a metaphor, I dunno -
! I mean, we do know that 1st Division Lieutenaut went to Europe in some missions so…

Jojo is one of the most successful manga series of all times. The whole cloth of western comics are built upon years and years of continuing the same stories. I have to fact check this, but it seems like Tetsuka, also known as the god of manga, treated his characters as actors rather than independent characters.
tldr; I see nothing wrong with recycling, as long as it turns into something good. Sure is Kubo, he'll find some way to fail.
-
Is just me or mustachio guy looks eerily similar to Don Ramon from Chavo?
And there's nothing wrong with recycling things, it's just that Kubo, and Mashima while we are on the subject, proved themselves to be unable to make it work in any sense. -
Looks like it's true
https://www.reddit.com/r/bleach/comments/8y93vq/soul_society_west_branch/
Yeah it's basically confirmed.Again this is just a one shot.
-
For those of you who don't understand it, there's a hidden meaning in the title. If you outline the specific letters and shapes, it says URN H VIT

We should make a youtube video and become a bleach theorist.
Yeah, we all, as one blob of conciousnes.

Do you mean Tezuka? Osamu Tezuka? Astro Boy, Kimba, Black Jack, Phoenix, etc?
Yeah, he had a stock set of character types. He also drew 700 volumes of manga in 40 years. basically 10 pages a day his entire life (not even getting into the animation stuff.)
Other artists have stock character types too and that's not a crime, but… mix it up some if you can.
-
Even in Bleach you had
- Ichigo
- Ichigo but with black hair and tattoos
- Ichigo but this one is actually his uncle who Rukia looks up to
-
I just started to reread Bleach 3 days ago because i met somebody who is a Bleach die hard fan and he hated Bleach live action trailer. One of his reason was, characters in that trailer doesn't really resemble the manga/anime. For example, Ichigo's zanpakuto look different than the one from manga/anime. I disagree because iirc, Ichigo's zanpakuto look the same. at the beginning he did use oversize katana but because I am not really sure, I let it go and change the topic.
ALl those discussions regarding live action and Kubo new oneshot, make me feel to reread Bleach and so I did.
Before rereading, for years, in my mind, Karakura arc (before SS) is the best arc, lot of good stories and personalities, good art and camera angle. SS arc is second best arc with less quality of story compare to previous arc but more hype due to tons of nice and fun characters and power design. Its like the Dragonball Z to Dragonball even though in the manga there's only Dragonball. And Arrancar arc (before Ichigo went to Hueco Mundo) as the 3rd and last arc that can be considered as okay or good. After that, everything sucks.
Upon rereading, I found that, Arrancar arc is not as good. Some of the thing that I hate in Bleach since Hueco Mundo arc for example like most of the characters were smug (starting from Aizen revealed as the bad guy), most of character talk and behave like the same. They talk like a smart person but they are not.
And most of the fight since from the beginning, most of it really simple and shallow even thought they were not as bad as in Hueco Mundo and in later arcs where most of them just 2 or more characters talking with smugness, shock faces, attack from behind and same uncreative camera angle. even though in the 1st and 2nd arc, most fight might be really simple but at least they have nice camera angle, personality and story to go along with it like My Hero Academia. I like My Hero Academia, but most fight really simple and boring.
There are some other things i've finally notice but you guys already discussing most of them to death in this forum/thread or applied logic blog.
Today, I just got to chapter 222 - Ichigo manage to become Visored(?). Not sure if visored is the correct term for shinigami that gain hollow power like Arrancar is Hollow who gain Shinigami power. So I check Bleach Wiki and failed to get a concrete answer. Same with who were Vastolorde in Aizen's Espada army. I don't know who were vastolorde. And I just realizing this.
Back in the day, I remember that thinking how stupid and badly written was Ichigo when he trusted Ginjo who he just met than Urahara. Ginjo just said, Urahara is a shady person and Ichigo suddenly trusted him and went to Xcution. Turn out, that is not the first time Ichigo doing that. He actually did the same thing in the arrancar arc when Rukia or one of his friends asked him to go to Urahara to seek help regarding Hollow power that grew inside of him and make him scared to fight and use bankai. He just said no and assume that Urahara might already know his problem but didn't have an answer or way to help him because if Urahara had an answer/way, Urahara might already told him. Then he went to seek Shinji/Visored help who he knows nothing of and Shinji already doing or acting suspiciously previously. What the hell Ichigo?
At least Kubo consistent in that department.Another thing is, being already know/reading Bleach previously, when rereading it, make me sad and fell funny at the same time knowing that so many thing that already established in the first 3 arc will be useless and retcon.
Anybody here know who were officially confirm as Vastolorde? And is Visored is the term or race for shinigami/hollow hybrid like Arrancar for Hollow/Shinigami hybrid? From databook or novels or something. I not really following Bleach. only reading the manga. I heard both Naruto and Bleach have some kind of databooks and novels that fill in many things that didn't exist in the manga originally. Thank you very much.
-
Visored I think is the official term, old scans used Vizard or something like that.
The vasto lord threat was badly handled, as in the end no one besides I think Arroniero revealed it's Hollow rank in the manga, and we only learned from Databooks that some of the upper echelons of the Espada were Vasto Lords. I don't remember exactly who, but at the very least up to Urquinaona.
-
I think Vizard looks better but it's pronounced as "vai-zard"
-
Just remember that while there's Japanese soul society and Western soul society, Germans are doomed to being linked to Yhwach and Hispanics end up in hueco mundo (along with some Japanese people)

Thats what i thought after reading about vastolorde in Bleach wiki and there is no mention or a list of vastolorde. Usually fan wiki has those kind of thing. More so in Bleach wiki because they have more dedicated fan-fiction fans who like to write about Bleach. I mean if we look at Blach wiki, and read them, it feels like Bleach is written very well and complex.
I think Vizard looks better but it's pronounced as "vai-zard"
Yeah, I agree. But Visored still better than Lev Ely.
but this mean, Shinigami Hollow Hybrid is Visored and Visored is not just SHinji and the gang?
Thank you very much maxterdexter and MetaMario -

Its English, you guys invent and abandon pronunciation rules like Kubo does with powers.

Zommari is the most unusual looking Hispanic-Asian Espada I’ve see walking around Huecdo Mundo.

I don't make up the rules, I just calls them as I sees them
-
Apparently so did the people working on the anime as Harribel was lightened up a few shades.
-
that oneshot's tone was all over the place and the entire thing was really convoluted and confusing
dunno if kubo thought to make this into a series someday or it's just a one shot made for contract obligations..but if it's the first option, he really needs to get back to the blackboard and streamline this a bit.
-
Virgo is the worst thing in this oneshot.
-
So…That was kinda messy. And needlessly lame about constantly thinking about underwear.
-
Well that answers all those jokes about foreign Soul Society branches. If nothing else, at least we're shown that it's only the Japanese afterlife that's a complete shithole.
… I was legitimately surprised at how consistently backgrounds were making an appearance, no joke. Virgo (hurr hurr at the pun) needs to be sent to Japan Soul Society's Hell.
-

So regular Soul Society?
-
The one-shot definitely lost me at several points, but I had fun with it and it felt like early Bleach. And while I can understand the complaints about Virgo, I got a real kick out of the dragon screaming for panties, so imo it was worth it.
-
Dragons that kills indiscrimitated in Japan…Heh.
-
First line: "I like uniforms"
…Yeah, wow, really REALLY breaking new ground here.
-
That was a fun read. Hardly ground-breaking stuff, but it was fun the whole time, and some of Kubo's more creative art. The only stupid thing was the panties. Unless you're Rumiko Takahashi, that doesn't work.
Kubo might be one of those authors who do their best writing short stories, or in this case one-shots.
-
Yeah, I guess that was alright (it had dialogue at least), but so many confusing things that made no sense.
-Why would they sentence normal humans to death for touching a dragon?
-Why is Sushi, the dark dragon, allowed to stick around? And why did they just stop fighting it?
-What was up with that resolution with Selby? Virgo seemed to get over it pretty quickly. For that matter, why did the dragon pretend to be Selby for ten years? Some of those dragon designs were pretty cool though.
