So the endgame for Bleach was Ichigo/Orihime, huh. I mean Ichigo and Rukia didn't really have the romance going in the first place, but the problem here is that their relationship was developed when the manga was still good, so it's a much better written one.

I probably enjoyed this chapter more than I should have. Idk, I guess we should be thankful that Kubo made it so we don't feel empty after reading the final chapter. You know, like how you feel when a good story ends.

-Last colorpage of the series and whadda know! Hiyori of all people gets to cameo. I'm sure the rest of the Vizards are huddled in a box in their warehouse, missing the days when they were revelant characters.
-Surprise surprise, the black bubbling of Bach's power turns out to be an anticlimax! ....why put it in then? It vanishes when Kazui touches it???? I guess it's because he....inheirted Ichigo's uber power (gee remember soul tickets being issues because it was implied Ichigo couldn't come back to a normal life?)
-Yay for Tatsuki, Mizuiro, and Keigo managing one more appearance, but sad for all of the other classmates (Ryo, Mahana, Chizuru, and Michiru).
also, the list of characters not shown at all is disgustingly long: Urahara, Yoruichi (death confirmation for either?), Nel, Grimmjow, Harribel, Kon, Isshin, Ryuken, Jinta, Ururu, Tessai, the flipping Vizards, etc. I get that Kubo wanted to only show the important characters, and that's fine by me, but do you know how many characters appeared once in this final arc then dropped off the face of the planet?-No Chad fight for us and Uryu is away from all of his friends. Yaaaay.
-No Kubo, don't you dare. You don't get to suddenly give Bach a motive! Not after you made him go all "I will destroy every happy memory you have". A world where death isn't feared? Is that why you had no qualms with killing your subordinates? I certainly remember the likes of Robert, Liltotto, Bazz, and others being a little afraid that they were suddenly being sucked up and killed. He lost his sympathic edge waaaaay back, when he was taunting Ichigo at the end of the first invasion, and it only compounded from there.
-oh hey it's Aizen. Does this mean he'll still be out in 19988.5 years? (1.5 for timeskip, then 10 years). Can't wait.
-Is it me, or do the children seem a little….much? Ichika is fine (although she seems to be Kazui's age, so did Renji knock Rukia up so soon? How can they reasonably raise a child if both are elite Gotei officers? I guess Kuchiki servants will help, Uncle Byakuya ahoy!), but Ichigo's son is supposedly a human, no? I'm not sure if Ichigo and Orihime were gung-ho for their 9/10 year old son to swing around a sword to kill monsters so soon! But I guess it'd be easy, considering you can get Shinigami powers on a stick these days.
Overall it's not a bad ending in a vacuum, but much like the last chapter, too many questions are left unanswered. This peacetime could've worked with more chapters with set-up, especially if Kubo had both pairings locked in his mind from the beginning. The sad thing, only a databook could possibly give us even a fraction of these answers, and that's if Kubo bothers to remember everything glossed over.
Also, meh on the live action movie. It could be cool, but it's not something that will leave a lasting impression on the fanbase.

End of an era, too bad it had to end like this. Hopefully One Piece doesn't end like this–rushed--but I highly doubt that's even up for consideration, with just how well the series is doing in Japan and even worldwide.

Sure kubo, spend multiple pages on dumb bankai jokes and waste time on kenpachi for example, instead of giving us a single yoruichi and urahara panel.
Man was the chapter lame as hell. A truly unsatisfying and rushed ending. Good, bleach is dead.

Can I nitpick, though? I've always felt weird when, in a manga with uber powered characters, these said characters suddenly go back to do normal stuff in competitions and stuff. I mean, against normal human opponents. Like Chad boxing.
I know Chad is not gonna use his full power, or else he could pulverize any human boxer in his path with a single punch, but it feels like cheating to abuse your powers like that.
But maybe that's just me?

I always liked Bleach.
It was flawed, Kubo was an artist who clearly A) Didn't care anymore or B) Became too full of himself. It had a million problems, many that this forum often like to tout when they did their weekly Bleach bashing. I never liked how this forum treated Bleach, but I understood that it was a series that had clearly gone off the rails, but still I enjoyed reading it. I like the swords, the secondary characters and when on point the Anime was actually really good.
But this? THIS? I'm sorry but Bleach deserved better than THIS.
It's ratings must have been in the toilet if it had to be given this rushed of an ending, with so many unresolved plot points, so many hanging threads. It is clear that Jump didn't give a fuck about this series and just wanted to make their money and call it a day. Even Bleach as flawed as it was, deserved at least until chapter 700. Not THIS.
And what is the big announcement? Some shitty Japanese live action movie with that no one is ever going to see, that won't make any good money, that will not be good at all. What a waste.
At the end of this, I repeat what I said before. Bleach was a flawed series, and even this flawed series deserved something better than this.

Do we even know how the events transpired? For all we know, Kubo could've perfectly been given a lot of time to start wrapping up the series. Does it honestly seem to you that Kubo has made the slightlest, tiniest effort at tying things up?
This last arc has had like 2 or 3 start-and-stop-and-start-again moments at the very least. Enemies have been felled only for them to stand again and again and again. . .
Sorry, but I don't think it's entirely "Japan's" fault here that this manga ended this abruptly and with so little fanfare.
Also (and I'm NOT implying that's your case at all, btw), it's funny when you see people demanding threads be wrapped before Bleach ended. What threads, you may ask? It all boils down to "xxx didn't show his/her bankai". That's it. Sorry, that's NOT a plot hole or a thread awaiting closure. That's a fighting technique not being shown, period. And, in fact, if something brought every fucking thing down to a slug's crawl during the past year or so it was the fucking need to get as many unseen bankais out of the way as possible at the expense of, I don't know, the fucking villain expressing his fucking intentions, personality and plan BEFORE the last 5 pages of the manga.
No, sorry, but Bleach did NOT deserve any better than this.

That's just wrong. Missing Bankais are one of the most common complaints, but the deal with the soul king is brought up just as often, and that and everything connected to it IS a massive plot hole. SS shouldn't exist anymore for all we know.

And so Bleach ends. Bot with a bang, not with a complete shitshow, not with anything much at all except a tiny whimper.
Narutos ended was filled with a flabbergasting cavalcade of bullshit, culminating in Kaguya and Sasuke. It was terrible.
Torikos ending is rushed, misguised and nonsensical. It is depressing.Bleachs ending is just pathetic.

So, that was your standard "years later the hero's settled down w. kid(s)" ending. Not in and of itself a bad thing, but I definitely agree that the whole thing falls flat since Ichigo never had a long-term goal for himself to fulfill (I'm guessing he's a doctor now like Grandpa Isshin…?) and he and his friends were out of focus for massive periods of time (with Keigo and Mizuiro never really being in focus to begin with - and what was with that random Hiyori cameo?). A barren ending, but given that the manga itself has been garbage outside of one or two moments for the better part of a decade now, whatever, I'm not worked up by it. At least it never infuriated me as much as Naruto, for better and for worse.
Certainly an end of an era with both Naruto and now this ending. For the best, really.

I would think that Japan and Jump would have, considering how much money Bleach made with the movies, live action musicals, merchandising and frankly 10+ years of runtime in Jump would have earned it the chance to least end on a nice number like 700, not halfway through was clearly the last half of the arc. 14 more chapters probably wouldn't have fixed everything, but it would have let the series more breathing room to end. To wrap up points like the Soul King, Ukitake, those soul tickets that were revealed but ended up doing jack shit, etc.
We probably won't know what happened for at least a few years. If I had to assign blame it would be 75% Kubo, 25% Jump

Yeah I typed that so you can ignore the rest of my post if you want to.
Long time fan of ichi-ruki, reason being even when the entirety of Bleach goes to trash, Ichigo and Rukia moments are the best in the series.
You can put aside the shipping and instead see them as two complete souls who are perfect together.
Substitute Shinigami was so much fun to read because of their crazy dynamics and chemistry together.\
Remember how much depth there was back then with them? It's one reason why Soul Society worked so well too because we cared for Rukia and she actually had a legitimate reason to surrender to SS back then. We even felt her sorrow.
Now compare to that wreck that is Inoue. How she pretty much ichigo-kun her entire damn way through the second half of the series. Her character depreciated to a cardboard cut-out while Rukia went through good character development like I don't know, actually being useful and taking down someone that took down Byakuya. Oh and her bankai.Okay so now you are thinking, this guy is another one of the crazy shipper. Then you must had missed the not so subtle story moments with the two of them. Remember when Ichigo visited his mother's grave and actually developed as a person? Who helped him in that? Yes, Rukia. And the words Rukia told Ichigo when he was in grief, he remembered it so much that he used it back on Isshin.
And the times when he was depressed because he lost his powers? That one time with Fullbringer, who was the one who stabbed a sword and brought back his cocky confidence? You guessed right.
That other time when he got wrecked by Grimmjow, who restored his confidence to trained harder? Not bad you guessed right again!
How was his days when he wasn't a shinigami? When he had orihime by his side all the way till fullbring arc? Monotone and boring as hell.Rukia changed his world and during the whole of Soul Society, Ichigo and her had really memorable moments.
People don't make an effort to remember stuff like that because it's shipper nonsense. Except that it isn't because it had been repeated multiple times in the story that the both of them had really good chemistry.
People dismiss shipper opinions like they have no value but seriously, this is canon and they should be canon.

We will in all likelihood never know the "why" of Bleach's ending. But regarding the supposed last minute cancellation and wrap-up, Kubo just has a terrible record when it comes to arc wrap-ups overall. After 130 chapters, Soul Society has 4 chapters dedicated to the ending once Aizen leaves. The absolutely gargantuan 250 chapter Arrancar arc makes do with two once Aizen is sealed, as does the fullbring arc. And now, we once again have a 200+ chapter arc, which smash-cuts directly into the epilogue.
Even if we believe Kubo being forced to rush and end the series, theres little chance a non-rushed version would've fared better, because Kubo has demonstrated increasing disregard for wrapping up his damn stories.
Kubo could've easily dragged the series on longer, sure…but its also possible he just reached the exact same "eh, can't be arsed anymore" moment that happened in the two preceding arcs. -

- Ichigo's kid and Rukia's kid meet so Kubo can have another "Death and the Strawberry" chapter title
- Isshin, Kon, Urahara, Yoruichi, Grimmjow, Nel, and dozens of other people fell into a black hole off-screen at some point

Of all of the endings I was expecting from bleach (massive asspulls, hackneyed explanations, crazy out-of-nowhere powerups, resurrections, retcons galore) this was not one of them.
Suddenly all the minor enemies die and the final boss gets killed in one hit, then timeskip to married with childre-THE END.
If nothing else, grats for that Kubo. Did not see that one coming.

Even the kid subplot in Naruto was more coherent and better thought out than this. I can barely even understand what happened here.
The whole Karakura reunion thing was admittedly sweet, but it'd have been actually good if it wasn't the only plot resolution in the midst of a bunch of unanswered things. Lol at Chad not even being seen, just mentioned in passing. Pretty much captures his role in the series accurately. Better than Ganju though, the last we see of the guy is him getting ready to fight statues.
For one, how is everything back to normal when the Soul King is dead? Ukitake could have risen up and taken over, but nah, he just died. Aizen could have made a triumphant and glorious keikaku and taken his place. But no, he's in Chair-sama junior. Speaking of Aizen, though, his little monologue was probably the best part of the chapter. And what happened to the Royal Guard?
Yeah, of course the series was a trainwreck due to getting cancelled. And while I don't personally support Shonen Jump's decision to cancel it, that's just how the business works. Bleach has tanked in popularity and is not making Shonen Jump any money, and no matter how much of a chance they've given Kubo, he was ultimately unable to make Bleach work for them. It reminds me of this song

For Bleach's live action movie, part of me hopes that it's Dragon Ball Evolution levels of bad, so it will at least be entertaining. Another part of me doesn't want to wish that on any fandom.

Man … finally an end to this! I don't care about the couples as much but it feels like Kubo just copied off Naruto's ending cos Kubo saw that 'fans' liked things like that so he ends up with Ichigo having a kid with the main girl (Orihime) befriending the kid of his 'past' love interest (Rukia) & best friend (Renji).
Can't remember the story that much to care about the plot holes or questions left unanswered

Was it ever implied that Juha Bach wanted to end death? Probably not, but I wanted to make sure that I didn't miss it.
Still, considering the afterlife in Bleach, where your options are:
a) if you're bad, you go to Hell and are seemingly stuck there forever
b) if you're good, you go to Soul Society, a recreation of feudal Japan run by powerful psychopaths where you'll be a dirt-poor peasant until you die of starvation (or get slaughtered by the people in charge to protect a vague "balance") and return to Earth
c) get eaten by a Hollow and cease to exist
then Juha Bach's plan actually sounds pretty good by comparison. -
