This is so sad…how can a series like Bleach end like that? After +670 chapters?? I know everyone hates that series and blablabla because the two last arc were shit but come on! A serie who can achieve more than 650 chapters need some more "respect"... First Naruto, then Bleach... I was 17 years old when i started those adventures... Sad.

Plus side, you won't have to worry about one piece ending until you're an octogenarian.

IIRC, Soul Balance thing was "corrected" when Mayuri ordered genocide of 28,000 rukongai denizens. Not that it made any sense.
Yeah this is why I've said before that the soul balance should have been a fabrication of the gotei 13.

The world of Bleach never made sense.

Since when were you under the impression that I had lost American Idol? You can thank my phone for autocorrecting Aizen to Aiken =|

Now I'm imagining Sosuclay Aiken.

It's confirmed that Bleach will finish in the next issue, not this week. The official release date of the final chapter is on August 22.
Bleach will have a color page for 2 weeks straight. And great news will be revealed in the next issue. Japanese people are guessing that the news will be related to the rumored live action film.

Goddamn it. 2 more weeks.
-
Phooey. But hey, what's an extra week compared to four years for slop?

Even the ending is getting dragged out.
-
Did we just get Yammy'ed again? Kubo sitting at his table of poetry with sunglasses on: "Since when were you under the impression Bleach was ending with color pages this week? fufufu~"
-
Seems likely that this next chapter wraps up the current story and next week is an epilogue chapter. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Kubo deliberately avoided answering any lingering questions this next chapter just so he could drag it out with one more afterwards.
-
August 2- oh come on, I was looking forward to this.
-
Yeah this is why I've said before that the soul balance should have been a fabrication of the gotei 13.
I find it rather hilarious that our bastard of a mad scientist was actually the one who took initiative in that "necessary evil", while Yamamoto idly asked if he had ever given him permission.
The world of Bleach never made sense.
That is true to all world of fiction works, but Bleach doesn't even play by its own rules.
-
One extra week puts this manga at 701 chapters, right?
So Kubo totally just did this to top Naruto, right?
-
2 more???? I see, so it was Aizen, in short time when I saw his face he manage to confused me about time when Bleach will end.

Where do you get the additional 13 chapters from?
-
-
-
Well if course ppl had to report the news wrong and give me false sense of hope that it really was the final chapter this week. Now we still have to wait two more weeks for the real final chapter. xD
I knew there was something iffy when there was no ending notice from the editors in the last chapter whatsoever.

Some spoilers floating around, not sure if they're 100% yet.
! > 10 year timeskip
Kyoraku is having a drink infront of Ukitake's grave
The repairs to Soul Society are roughly finished
Little girl Nemu and Mayuri are going to inspect the reconstruction zones.
Mayuri: "Come along now, Nemu Hachigou"
Nemu: "Yes, Mayuri-sama!"
Mayuri: "…Your voice is too loud..."
Kenpachi, Ikkaku, and Yumichika are on their way to the new captain ceremony, but they don't know where it is
Kenpachi:"I've been getting lost till now because of Yachiru! But she isn't here now. I can't get lost! Let's get going!"
Iba is heading to the ceremony from the training grounds.
Hitsugaya: "You don't have to work so hard, Captain Iba"
Iba: "I still don't have the caliber of a captain… so if I skip out on these trainings, I won't feel like I'm a captain."
Hitsugaya: "That's an amazing spirit you have there… But there's someone I want you to say that too!"
Rangiku: "Waaa! Who! Could it be Shuuhei!?"
Hisagi: "That's inexcusable,Rangiku! I've already told you that it's because I've already finished my bankai training!"
They are having a new captain ceremony for Rukia, the new captain of the 13th squad
Vice-captain Akon: "The gauge is giving off a weird reading… this is like the reiatsu of Yhwach from ten years ago."
End

! So Ukitake is dead then, how fittingly anticlimactic. Also, I guess Komamura kicked the bucket too or whatever. If these are legit spoilers.
-
Ah, so a trash ending, not unlike the ending of Beelzebub.
-
Honestly didn't expect we'd see any of the captains again so I'll take anything at this point.
So why did we get reports this week would be the last chapter, last week? Doesn't seem to be true.
-
! mayuri should make a zombie or a robot version of ukitake. Ah… he isn't Uruhara. Komamura aint died, every full moon Iba always come to dark cave to get Komamura and drink talking about the past in his human or else i say shinigami form.
-
Can editors actually force an author to do something?
Yes. I remember Togashi's interview at the end of Yuyu Hakusho…
-
! I hope that Aizen or somebody else is revealed to have absorbed the Soul King mojo from Yhwach in the following chapter, otherwise the question of who/what's holding reality together now comes up.
-
Yes. I remember Togashi's interview at the end of Yuyu Hakusho…
Isn't this why Jump allows him to take months off from Hunter X Hunter at a time? Part of a "we're throwing you a bone" deal?
–---
Holy crap, if we're thinking in Bakuman terms.....Oda is Niizuma, Togashi is Hiramaru, Ohba/Obata is Takagi/Mashiro, then Kubo must be.....?

Either Nanamine or Koji.

I don't know anything of his current relations with Jump. x)

The train wreck never ends..
! Fucking Iba made captaincy before Renji, god damn what a blow to the chest.

In all fairness…
! Renji has a worse combat record than Chad. That has to have influenced things
-
Renji tries too hard.
-
! I dunno what death was more pathetic, Unohana or Ukitake. Both are/were older captains that were relegated to support roles for the series. Shunsui got the fight spotlight over his friend twice, and the only time Unohana fought was just to hype up Kenpachi.
! feelsbadman.jpgEither Nanamine or Koji.
I was gonna say Koogy too, for the style, no substance.
-
! Renji must kill Byakuya in order to be a captain and that is a big deal with he always/mostly lost in battle, kill Byakuya lololol, something that even the mighty Kubo/màngaka itself cannot do.
-
! Renji will always be the captain of the jobbing squad, so there's that at least?
-
! Ironically, he beat the guy who defeated both Kensei and Rose.
-
! Ironically, he beat the guy who defeated both Kensei and Rose.
I will never get that, Renji was suddenly so insanely powerful he could just shove off with his bare hand an attack that killed a captain. But as soon as the fight was over, he reverted back to his original power. During the fight against Gerard, he wasn't depicted as being particularly strong, he was just the same old Renji.
-
I honestly did not remember Renji getting a fight in this arc. I guess that shows how little of it actually stuck with me.
-
^Renji is so bad he can make even the most memorable Quincy forgettable.

Well if it's about to be over I guess I need to read from where I left off. I just did some research and the last chapter I read was around 562 so I'm over 2 years behind. Ha. haha… This should be fun?

I guess that nobody beside you - out of actively discussing in this thread - paused reading Bleach for that long.
Share your thoughts when you will catch up. Your experience will be quite different than weekly readers.

I'm honestly kind of amazed how much it seems like Kubo actively decided to not dramatize anything about the Final Battle and Ichigo. I mean, we've known for some time that Kubos passion lasts no longer than the fleeting moment of writing the current 1 on 1 battle featuring a fan-favourite shinigami, but I don't think I've ever seen someone have so little regard for his main cast, or main storyline. Theres more thought, care and skill put into Mayuris fight with a giant sentient hand, than in resolving Ichigo vs Bach, and the drama of the arc itself.
-
read that whole interview and i didn't see any part where he says he was actually forced by the editors to do something.

That's because Ichigo is literally nothing and Kubo refuses to make him something, any groundwork or possible avenues laid at the beginning of the series? Absolutely nothing now.
And you know what's even more ridiculous? Despite doing absolutely nothing with Ichigos character, Kubo continues to bring up Ichigos lack of ambition/direction as well as how his talent/intelligence convicts with it, as if somehow he's going to make something out of it, I mean seriously how many times throughout the series has that thread been brought up and dropped? -

I suspect the reason being WSJ giving sudden notice to Kubo.Perhaps they hinted for quite a while to wrap it up,but when Kubo ignored the signs(or choose to ignore) they finally gave the deadline.I don't think Kubo had more than 10 chapters at his hand by that time.

Its tempting to chalk everything up to Shueisha pulling the plug, but its naive to think that Kubo would've pulled together any sort of compelling drama or resolution given more time. The extremely undercooked Ishida plotline of this arc and the complete refusal to do anything with Ichigos increased manbearpigness beyound the superficial show just how little cares. Especially with Ichigo, you can go back as far as the arrancar arc, and its bizarrely limp climax, to see Kubos complete disinterest in doing basic bloody storytelling. Ichigos life is a never-ending stream of surprise "I MANIPULATED YOUR LIFE ALL ALONG" twists, Total Power Loss lowest moments, last minute surprise rescues and earth-shattering revelations of his background…and its only ever used for in-the-moment shock and awe. Just look at the recent Horny Ichigo moment, and how little it registers, how little is done with it; its there for an instant, looks KEWL, and -for all the dozens of chapters dedicated to Ichigos inner world and his relationship with his Powers - is nothing beyond that.
