Well, how do you find up about one piece and when do you start watching it?
How do you find out about one piece?

It aired on TV and I managed to watch a few episodes and liked it but since it stopped airing and it usually aired at wierd schedule I couldn't really get into it. It was just a random cool series that I saw once.
But a couple years later when the anime/manga boom happened in the west, with funsubs and scans hitting up the internet like crazy, I jumped on that bandwaggon too. There were a couple of series I remembered, like Neon Genesis Evangelion, so I started by those but then I asked my friends what else I should check out and one of them said One Piece. When I looked into it I saw it was that cool random serie I remembered and I've been following it ever since. -
Foxkids in the UK I think

I guess this is the third time this thread was made?
Anyway, I saw the covers of Volume 1 and 2 cover on a Nintendo Megazine in my country back in 2000 and I was all WTF is that? Only in 2005 I got into the anime(4kids version with an original dub, with was weird since most animes aired here were the japanese version. Zoro was not Zolo and Gomu Gomu was not Gum Gum for reference.) and got more deep when playing Grand Adventure…I wish it was GB Rush.
-
4kids i used to watch it for awhile and then when funi came on i used to go to my dads friends house and me and his son would watch naruto and bobobbo and one piece well at least until skypiea ended, then in like 2014 i wanted to catch up on what i missed so i read summarys of every arc, spoiling everything major up to current early dressarosa, I then decided to do a rewatch through from october 2014 to the end of the dub which was at TB somewhere in 2015 of march, I then caught up to the sub around december and i waited until After corazons flashback i caught up to the manga which is sabo's based the episode to show up in two weeks.
795 was the first chapter i read in real time lmao
-
My cousin made me watch it back when it was airing on 4kids, it was during the Baratie arc. At first I wasn't too into it, but in 2007 he showed me clips of Gear 2nd and a bunch of other stuff from Enies Lobby and I fell in love with the series ever since. Holy crap it's been 9 years! That makes me feel old.
-
you find out about it through social media, friends, tv and anime sites. you start watching it from episode 1 whenever you want.
on the off chance your question meant how did i find out about it and when did i start watching it:
i found out about it from tv like 9 years ago, and i started watching it 5 years ago, because i wasn't sold on it at first and let naruto pop my anime cherry instead. -
Just got into anime at around 2008. Watched naruto then bleach. Noticed one piece was in the most popular list so watched that. Still my fav anime
-
I first learned of it in 2010, when I was browsing a Serebii thread about the Pokémon anime (of all places), and one of the posters mentioned the One Piece series in favorable light when comparing to the Pokémon anime's "taking forever to end because Ash is yet to become a Pokémon master after 13 years". I found that a bit interesting, but glossed over it at first. Then, about an year later, I decided to start the anime, and the rest is history. Of course, I've also become acquainted with the manga ever since.
-
Decided to try getting into manga, and the public library had all the volumes so far, so figured I'd try that first
-
I started with the manga (Oct. 2015). I needed a new weekly manga fix after Naruto ended almost a year prior, so I researched around on a few well-known ones and found that One Piece had really positive feedback from fans. Started reading it and was hooked from Day 1. I read up to the Straw Hats' separation, then started the anime. Bounced back and forth since then between manga, subbed anime, and (Funimation) dubbed anime. As of now, I'm caught up on the manga (since January/chapter 812); just starting Marineford in the subs (while also "cheating" and watching the weekly released episodes in Dressrosa :ninja:); and will start Thriller Bark in the dub once I switch back to it.

When it came to America on 4Kids, played some of the console games that America got
Watched it until faded from Cartoon Network
Then mainly just read the manga on mangastream or Manga panda
Watch the subbed anime where I can find it
The one piece games I have bought:
Grand Adventure
Unlimited Adventure
Pirate Warriors 1 to 3
Unlimited World Red (PS3)
Burning Blood (PS4) - {preordered it in full}Other one piece stuff I bought:
Film Z (Blu-ray) & Movie OST
Strong World (Blu-ray)
The Desert Princess Movie -
Well, this is a lengthy story but I'll try and keep it short and sweet. I remember seeing the Luffy VS Crocodile fight on Toonami (meaning that it was with the 4Kids dub) but I only saw very little of it because all I remember about it was that it was some rubber like character fighting someone in a palace of some sort for a minute or two and then I changed the channel. Then I saw another little bit of it on Toonami in late 2007 with the FUNi dub of the Skypiea arc but I only ever saw the end of one of the episodes which was the one with Zoro's Tarzan yell. Then I forgot about it for a while (even after learning about the 4Kids dub and the differences between that and the FUNi dub in my early internet days in 2008) until 2014 when a friend of mine who loved the series got me to watch it and while I was a little slow with it at first, I started watching it more and more and I fell in love with it. I had watched some anime before (a number of DBZ eps and movies, first 5 episodes of YYH and one or two eps of Naruto and one of the movies) but OP popped my cherry per say and was the first one I watched front to back (well more like where the story is now). I'm now caught up with both the Anime and Manga and it is my favorite TV show, Anime and Manga of all time.

So you caught up on a bombshell chapter ehhh? Im in the same boat, ive only recently caught up to the manga but I picked ahell of a time to read my first one live, one piece chapter 795 :ninja:

The now defunct Dutch website I used to watch Dragonball Z ( dbz-media.nl ) linked it on their website around the fall of 2008. That's how I got into it.
I got caught up around the time episode 384 (the Brook filler episode before the Duval arc) aired. -
It was either late "99 or '00 I was in Barnes & Nobles and saw a guy with the manga and I asked him if that was good, he said it was ok but try it anyways, got hooked on it, saw the 4kids version and didnt watch that since it was so bad til maybe 2004 when I first saw subbed anime. Been a long but fun ride.
EDIT
It was around 02 according to wiki so that would have been my senior year in high school.

I probably first heard about One Piece on Greg's old DBZ information website, where he dedicated a small section to One Piece when it was still fairly new.
Since it wasn't available in America yet, and I wasn't dealing with scanlations or fan subs back in those days, I only heard about it through other fans using One Piece avatars on various anime web forums, and the other fans gushing over major moments as they happened. I was probably also introduced to Naruto and Bleach in this fashion…through avatars and signatures.
I heard the uproar when One Piece was licensed by 4Kids!, but I tuned in to see how the show was. It was unwatchable in English, so I left it on the back burner.
After Toonami picked up the rights to the old dub, I started watching, figuring that if it was good enough for the Toonami crew, it's good enough for me. I also hoped that the Toonami version would be less censored, which it wasn't. At this point, I figured watching the anime was a hopeless cause.
I first legitimately became interested in One Piece when it was announced that FUNimation had rescued it, and would be providing a new, uncensored dub and DVD releases. To celebrate, I watched the end of Toonami's run of the old dub just to get up to date on (part of) the story, and then tuned in for the new dub every week. I purchased the new DVD's to see the story play out from episode 1, and even started picking up a lot of the Viz manga release to get further ahead in the story.
And now I'm One Piece obsessed.

4Kids dub. And because of that dub I almost wasn't willing to take it seriously, but then I came across the manga a few years later and loved it!

Actually previous ones were for the series in general or the manga. This one is asking when you discovered the anime. I had to relook when I was it said 'watching it' and not 'reading it'.
I was one of those unlucky ones that were eagerly waiting for the anime in the USA after reading the manga. Only to be seriously disappointed when it was 4KIDS that put out the anime here … when Funimations did eventually took over, for many, we were already disillusioned with the horror of 4KIDS 'Americanization' and censorship of the anime.

I learned about this series while browsing a One Piece forum about 2 months ago.

I hear this for DB a lot but this is the first time I ever heard that for One Piece. You've made my year.

I think I was always sort of aware that One Piece existed, mostly in thanks to wanting to know if any other companies butchered an anime dub as badly as FUNimation managed to with the Dragon Ball series.
My first exposure to the series proper was the One Piece x Toriko x Dragon Ball crossover a few years back. I made the poor decision of attempting to pursue Toriko before realising that the anime was utter trash.
After being frustrated by Super, I hopped over to One Piece since, despite what many fans think about Toei's production, the anime is actually rather good, with many awesome sakuga moments.
I began in December 2015 before finishing up the series in April 2016. Since then, I've read the rest of the manga, and am currently in the process of tackling the specials and movies that I didn't catch during my first runthrough.
-
I got bored of Naruto and was looking for another long anime.
-
For me it was back in 2001 when the anime started airing here in Italy, i remember i hated it at first because it replaced Case Closed xD
But by the time the Baratie arc started i was totally addicted, it didn't take long because it wasn't one episode a week like in Japan but 5 episodes a weekIn 2005 they stopped when the Skypiea arc ended ;_;
In 2006 i had my first fast internet connection so i started watching it online and subbed, when i was on par with the anime i started to read the manga but i kept watching the anime too, until now
-
I used to "snob" manga when I was young, but a friend got me interested in a manhwa, it was in 2005 I believe. After that I tried manga, got hooked on Naruto (which I still believe to this day has the best first couple of tome of any Shonen nekketsu I've ever read). I generally went to the Fnac (French equivalent to Amazon I guess) to read manga there (and buy them as soon as I had the money for it) and that's reading in the shop that I discovered One Piece. I think I gave up twice on it, relatively quickly (the first time during the Buggy arc). The art style was weird, the journey seems to go nowhere and the universe was not very coherent. I needed a few more tries to realise that this was the most fantastic epic I had ever read, it simply needed time, time to grow, time for me to adapt to the art style.
I've tried to get into the anime a few times, but it's really only thanks to the One Pace team that I can do it. I'm happy though, it's definitely a fresh experience to watch it animated and voiced even if I'm more of a manga guy, and I particularly love the atmospheric music. A big factor in my liking of it is that the Japanese voice for Luffy is all I hoped it would be.
-
I saw 4Kids but then my sister Theresa told me 4KIDS ARE SUCK. Now Funimaton dubs it and we watch it together YEY.
-
I read the manga when it first came up, and then watch the anime.
-

Oh wow, I had no idea you responded to me two years ago. lol
It's true. I was already deeply entrenched into the DBZ Internet community around 1998, 99 or so, back in the days of Planet Namek and DBZ Uncensored and the like. I spent a lot of time on your site for your section on things we were missing in the censored DBZ dub, as well as your section on the Dragon Ball universe timeline, interviews, and whatnot. So it was on your site as well when I first read about you gushing over this new manga in Japan called One Piece, and you had a little section dedicated to it. I don't remember much about it, and it doesn't seem to be there anymore, but I seem to recall some descriptions of the various pirate groups and their flags from the early story. And I thought to myself, "WELL…if someone who is so big into Dragon Ball, and so knowledgeable about it, is telling me to check out this new story about pirates, I probably should!"
But I wasn't into fansubs, and I knew nothing about online scanlation sites. My anime and manga consisted of what I could watch on TV, or buy at Barnes and Noble. As I mentioned in my post two years ago, my only continued exposure to One Piece was while spending time on various anime (usually DBZ) message boards. Other users would often have One Piece avatars or images in their signatures. I was probably first exposed to Naruto and Bleach in this same manner. I would hear about them on message boards long before their (usually censored) dubs ever made it to our shores. In that sense, we sort of new what these shows were already before they became popular here.
I tried to watch a little of the 4Kids! dub of One Piece when it was fairly new, but seeing the Internet's reaction to the changes turned me off from it. I knew I was missing the core of the show. I didn't become fully invested in One Piece until FUNimation rescued it, and started treating it right.

Looked up longjump records on youtube(Counter Strike 1.6), stumbled upon 25xth episode of One Piece anime.
-
Back when i was nine my mom loaned a one piece ps2 game from our local library because she thought it was a dragonball game (i was obsessed with dragonball but it was the only manga i knew of).
I played it and fell in love with the characters so i started lending all the One Piece books the library had, until i at a later age started finding the chapters on the internet, and i only just now realised that its been a part of my life for eleven years now. phew. -
Eh? I started watching One Piece from the 4Kids version. lol
No big deal though.
