In the description of the very first episode....they call him "Luffy D. Monkey".

Based on the interview Anthony Bowling had with the OPP, they might already be in the raid right? I don't watch the show in Jp, but what episode does that officially start?
I'm also curious how now having 3 directors will impact whether or not they catch up this year.

Just finished Wano Act 1. Was very pleasantly surprised to see that Mike McFarland directed the vast majority of these episodes!
I was tickled pink by the sprinkling of "shit" throughout the second set of episodes. Appropriately, only spoken by characters like Kaido and Shutenmaru, where it's very in-character.
My favorite was Shutenmaru turning down Jack's offer to join the Beast Pirates, leaping at him in anger, sword drawn, and screaming, "In that case...I only have one thing left to say.... EAT SHIIIIIIIIIITTTT!!!!!!!"

Man, was really depending on this week. Damn, first time misrationing and being out of episodes, lol. Guess they’re getting more unpredictable since they’re trying to catch up. I’m kind of expecting another two-set drop.

Agreed, and yet here we are at around six weeks since the last set; hopefully it shadow drops tomorrow.
EDIT: Nope. Damn. Getting more likely it’ll be a two month wait. Bummer. Guess maybe they just sped up one release and now we’re eating the extra break. Or maybe more likely the TX freeze slowed them down? Ah well. Not a big deal, but it would be nice to keep up the speed.

Won’t this also be the Dub debut of Zebra from Toriko? Don’t think the dub made it that far.

Yeah, the Toriko dub only did a single episode of season 2 (to keep the episode count to 50 but skipping the crossover episodes). Zebra was the 2nd arc of season 2. Old granny Setsuno's VA, Juli Erickson, retired in 2018 so that's probably a recast. Who knows if they kept everyone or just went with new ones to get the episode over with.
I've never watched the episode myself to know how many lines each particular character gets, but it'll definitely be fun catching this on toonami.

Yeah, the english dub of Toriko only covers up to the beginning part of the Melk arc (Also which was a few episodes away from the introduction of Zebra). I can't wait to hear Zebra finally to be dub in this special.

So this is cool and all but this also means the home video release will be incomplete which bugs me so badly.

The thing is even the Japanese home video release doesn't have the One Piece X Toriko X Dragon Ball special. While the other 2 specials got a home video release in Japan and the first 2 One Piece x Toriko specials are streaming on both Crunchyroll and Pluto tv (the One Piece half of the specials are on pluto tv.).

Here's hoping they release a set that has multiple TV Specials on it, including this one.
But the sets are literally ten behind right now, so oof.

Man, I’m starting to get anxious. Was really bummed they didn’t announce a new set on Friday. The next set doesn’t even have a new theme song, so I assume it isn’t a rights issue. And they’re so far ahead in the dub. Idk what’s slowing them down, but I’m bummed they’re not dropping a date yet. I miss my weekly doses; going through withdrawal, lol

The subtitle version of episode 590 (The One Piece half of the special) is already up on Pluto tv. I'm surprised that Pluto tv got the episode up already before Crunchyroll or Funimation did.

About that uh, I think they're only dubbing the One Piece half lol. They have two episodes premiering that night and the other is 605.

Again the other episode is a Toriko episode not a One Piece one. It would need Funimation to use the Toriko license that they might have lost already.

An account tweeted about it. I doubt it will disappear, given the amount of time this seems like a late release over an early one. They accidentally reuse the previous voyage image all the time.

Usually the icon at least says the correct voyage number, though.
Everyone sounds good, per usual. Might have to get used to King and Komurasaki a bit; Orochi and Queen sound natural and as expected (a good thing). Page One's voice changes depending on the form, so that's interesting to hear a few variations. Makes sense they used a black actor for King.
I'm psyched it's out, though. So many new voices! Good episodes, too. Definitely going to slow my rationing on these. Two episodes today, then two a week until we get a new set, lol.

What? If it had the current voyage number, then it would’ve been updated. They wouldn’t go through the trouble of updating the art again if the voyage number was already correct. It’s pretty clear to me they probably just always have the last voyage image as a default and forget to change it or have some technical issue.
I think you may be thinking of when voyage 8 and 9 of WCI first came out, 9 being early. They both used the 9 image I think.

I think they've used the same image with a different number more than once, but they end up eventually changing the image entirely. It doesn't really matter, though. What do you think of the new voices?

I’m only a few episodes in so far. It’s hard for me to form much of an opinion on Queen from what I heard, King isn’t bad but I guess I kindve expected him to be more soft spoken? I honestly forget if he was in the sub or if I just imagined that in the manga. I also just got to Toko, who sounds good but it’s kindve hard to mess up little girls I guess lol.
I have time to binge them all today so I’ll probably post more thoughts once I’m done.

Okay so to start I can actually tell you who two cast members are by ear.
Orochi is Keith Silverstein. Not sure how I feel abt him tbh. I love him as an actor including previously in one piece, and maybe it’s precisely because i’ve heard him so much and his voice is so unique, but there’s just kindve a disconnect there for me. Maybe it’ll get better as time goes on.
Yasu is Kenny Green. This is his 4th One Piece role, and while that sounds like a lot most of his roles are minor enough I don’t think everyone will notice? but he honestly fits him great imo. He was a really kindve old cooky sound to his voice that really fits his whole style and attitude.
Queen I was highly anticipating, but I have to say I don’t think I’m sold yet. Queen as a character and his original performance really stick out to me and the performance here just doesn’t so far. That said it’s not bad at all, and he really doesn’t get many scenes, so I’ll see how I feel once they get to the more fun content.
Page One is a bit hard to judge because as Zephray mentioned his voice changes a bit going from full dinosaur to hybrid, so we don’t know how it sounds normally yet, but a bit older sounding than I expected. I’ve always felt the age gap between the rest of the crew and him and the rest of the crew kindve made him a bit of a charming dork even if he’s. Awful. Hasn’t really been conveyed much so far but again I can’t really make a fair judgement yet.
That’s all the major new voices I think but one last note is that on the last episode they refer to it “Oshiruko”, when in the official subs it’s actually translated to “red-bean soup”, which is the opposite of what’s usually the case. I wonder if this will cause another discrepancy between episode titles as I believe it’s referred to in one.

They called it red-bean soup earlier on too, maybe to introduce it as its translation, since it’s not well-known in the west, then start calling it by its name.
Kenny Green sounds like a great choice for Yasu and so glad to have Keith as a canon character. Can’t believe Char Aznable is the shogun of Wano now.
