That's how it happened in the Japanese version too though and it worked just fine (some were adjusted slightly, others were just the same). I liked Kappei Yamaguchi's updated take on Usopp for instance but was unsurprised/unbothered to see characters like Chopper, Franky, Sanji and others largely just sounding the same. I think they'll all just sound the same in the dub though like in Film Z, though I'd like to see little touches to adjust accordingly like the original did. Stuff like Colleen even lowering the pitch of her voice like Mayumi did would be really nice and subtle if done right.

Well, they already dubbed Film Z (which is post-timeskip), so rewatch that and see if you hear any differences.
-
I just picked up on something about the tweet funimation did, they said that the time skip will happen later this year, the episodes for December end on Episode 516 which is right before the time skip, so that means we could get Episodes 517-518 in December early which would mean that the next set would come in Janaury 2017

I honestly didn't notice a shift in the voice acting in the Japanese version. Unlike Naruto's time skip there's no real requirement for the character's voices to really change. Now I can understand if characters like Usopp and Chopper sound more confident and sure of themselves but that's more character development marches on. Also while Luffy did so more direct in the beginning it seems Mayumi has relaxed into the way Luffy is usually voiced but this also makes sense of the trauma Luffy suffered right before the timeskip. The impression I was left with One Piece is that with the time skip the characters grew but were also fundamentally the same and the voice acting reflects that.
-
I'm more interested in who will be voicing which doppelganger.
-
I finally had enough time to finish watching through the rest of the Marineford Arc. As before, it was fantastic, and it was great getting to hear Coby's speech and Shanks.
The missing Law line is even worse than the Mihawk one. (since Buggy responds to Law)
As for timeskip voices, I don't think there's any reason they should be inconsistent with Film Z. Some minor changes could make sense, but really there's no need for them to change.
-
It just wouldn't make sense that some characters would change vocally and others wouldn't.
-
IMO, it would make sense that some of the younger characters, such as Luffy or Usopp's voices would change, while some of the older characters, such as Robin or Brook's wouldn't.

Hey guys, just wanted to mention that Selecta Vision in Spain just announced that they are dubbing and releasing ALL of the One Piece films on DVD throughout the next year or so. This comes just a month after they announced releasing Film Gold in theaters this November.
Since we know Film Gold is in the bag for us in the states, I'm wondering if this could mean that the other films will be coming here soon in a similar fashion…

So Spain is getting a Spanish Dub for One Piece Film Gold?

So Spain is getting a Spanish Dub for One Piece Film Gold?
Yep, with a brand new cast as well. The Films, including Gold, will be dubbed in Catalan too.
-
Well, this happened years ago with France, too, if I'm not mistaken. Doesn't mean at all that we'll be getting the same deal soon, unfortunately.
-
Wow, those episodes were great today. Porchemy and Bluejam's voices really fit. Love Dadan, she cracks me up. Can't wait for the rest to come out.
-
Man, I'm so holding off on those so I can marathon the whole flashback at once.
-
Gonna watch episodes 480 and 481 with my completely unspoiled sibling tomorrow. This is gonna be tough going from such a high to that low. Her favorite character is that guy lol. She was faked out on the crocodile intervention and the haki-explosion so incredibly she still doesnt know. When we were in alabasta I questioned whether I should break it to them but decided against it as all the suspense of the rescue arc would be completely lost. Now I almost feel like a sadistic asshole, especially once I get to episode 483…
Also probably gonna take a break after 491 for like 6 weeks and catch slightly after in december 7th to S8V4 and S8V5 before TS. Then time to marathon at high speed the Post timeskip.
Fellow people who are watching the dub with a new person any close to MF? And if you already passed it how did they react to the big scenes. The last big scene we got to was sabaody and they started crying halfway through 405 because its emotional as hell.
-
Really liked how 480 and 481 were handled, especially when luffy says I'll be stronger than you ace. Uhhh this was so awesome to see but in the back of my head I was thinking Damn, ny sibling absolutely loved it as much as I thought, perhaps even more.
Gotta say this whitebeard dub actor's voice has really grown on me. His 481 speech was marvelous. Ive heard nothing but good things about the rest of the set so I am both excited and worried for the next two.
-
Finally got around to the episode #482-483 with my sibling. 483 was done near perfect with the delivery of ace and luffy being top notch quality, and maybe it was just hearing it in english but the montage of all the people repeating how they were gonna save ace, really got to me like I was in an endless flurry of feels. I cried probably 2x more than I have anywhere else on this rewatch project.
Also apparently my sister was spoiled about ace dying sometime in late may 2016 by one of her friends (…you know the whole Oh I thought you were already caught up)after all but she didnt know when so she was assuming it was later and was blindsided they didnt succeed here. So she was expecting more of him and it hit emotionally. Ahh well getting this far without knowing anything about ace was kind of unrealistic especially since I was doing this since November 2015, I thought it would have more impact in the dub for her at least. But her not expecting it to happen here gave half the effect so Im still glad anyways.
Felt emotionally drained after watching it though.

A c-chance to see a One Piece movie in theaters?
…....:D
-
is it going to be dubbed or subbed, please let it be dubbed
-
It could be both. I think that would be for the best.
-
This is great news. Here in Puerto Rico we got DBZ Resurrection F and the two Attack on Titan live action movies in theaters. Hopefully with this announcement we'll also get Film Gold over here.

"Presented in English Dub."
-
Very exciting. There was just a limited Digimon release, but they upped the ticket prices for that to $12-15 with no discounts. I assume OPG will be normally priced, but I'm okay with paying more for One Piece. Just not Digimon/nostalgia alone.
-
OH THANK GOD ENERU! FINALLY!
A perfect way to start of 2017 and One Piece's 20th anniversary.
-
I am most definitely going to support and watch this, and it is perfectly placed in January since that is when the time skip should be starting for us Dub fans
-
Anyone see this yet? Any spoilers for dub-only watchers? I had to skip past the Aokiji scenes in Film Z so my girlfriend wouldn't be spoiled.
-
There is really only one that I can think of.
! sabo and lucci are in it and fight each other. I also think it mentions that luffy has already defeated doflamingo at this point, not sure if that counts.
That is the only kind of future spoilers that I can think of.
-
The Sabo spoiler is a big one. The others aren't a deal at all. Hm.

! This mostly stuff from the trailer Akuinu is shown in his new role as Fleet Admiral and Koala also shown with Sabo. And of course Sabo and Lucci.

! And isn't Gear Fourth in the movie?
-
I was almost starting to lose hope, but Funimation delivered. It feels good to know that a One Piece movie will be playing in theaters across North America and Canada. This hasn't happened since Movie 8 in 2008.

Considering that they're showing it dubbed only and the fact that One Piece is their second biggest property, I'm pretty sure this will get a Resurrection F sized release.

Which was how big?
-
Resurrection F was screened in more than 1,000 theaters over its release.

I doubt Film Gold will get that many screens seeing how One Piece isn't nearly as popular as DBZ over here, but seeing how they're planning to have it show for a full week (as opposed to only 2-3 days) they might get a good amount of theaters. I'm thinking…. like 500-ish.

I mean, obviously it won't be in that many theaters but it'll at least be in 800 because One Piece is pretty popular for FUNi as it's like their Number 2 property.

I'd like to see your proof for that claim. I'm sure OP is one of their top-sellers, but I'm not so sure it's their number 2.
Don't forget they have Fairy Tail and Attack on Titan, as well.
-
Best part of now living in austin– absolutely no doubt that it'll play here.
-
Yeah, One Piece is nowhere near DBZ in terms of popularity here, so I think 1000, or even 800 is an optimistic figure. However, I have to no doubt that it'll play in hundreds of theaters. We'll just have to wait and see on this one.
-
Isn't there supposed to be more OP news coming out of this convention? Today and tomorrow.

One Piece does more for them than Fairy Tail automatically because One Piece is the one airing on Toonami and Fairy Tale isn't, that's a pretty good indication for how popular it is for them. They'll definitely be trying to put it in tons of theaters, just because it's not DBZ doesn't mean that it can't be in tons of theaters.

There's more to success than a tv airing… especially one that is at the dead of night.
Look, I'm not saying they're not going to try. What I'm questioning is your claim that it's the "number 2" anime FUNi has got... and given your recent post, I see now that was just your assumption and that you don't have actual proof for that.

Where did you hear that from???
-
Sorry guys, I couldn't attend the Funimation panel today - it reached capacity when I got to the line.
I did see a Film Gold poster though.
-
So I guess we could start guessing who we think is going to voice who in terms of new characters in the dub for the movie:
Carina: Morgan Berry She liked my tweets about FUNi doing the movie way before they announced it and Colleen tweeted at her once about her being amazed by her singing ability so it's very likely that she'll voice Carina.
Sabo: Bryce Papenbrook He hasn't had a role in One Piece yet but he still does stuff for FUNimation and I think he'd be good for Sabo. If not him then my other choices would be Justin Briner or Clifford Chapin. That's all I have for now, I need to think about what voices would fit Tesoro, Dice, Mr. Tanaka and Baccarat.

While i am very glad we are getting this movie, i was hoping for some more announcements like 3D2Y
-
The con isn't over, so there could be more announcements.
