The Evangelion GKIDS release says it has the “official dub.” Not sure if that means the Netflix dub, but if so, that’s an odd instance of Netflix giving their dub to another company for hardcopy media release.
And gosh, I’m really hoping it’s the Netflix dub. Evangelion doesn’t need a fifth dub, especially when the Netflix dub is one of the best dubs out there—and certainly the best Eva dub by a mile and a half.
I disagree. I didn't really care for the Netflix dub for Eva. I rather have the original ADV dub of Eva on bluray. And they already redub the first 3 Rebuild movies for Amazon with the original dub cast of the tv series.
Everyone is allowed to have a terrible opinion. :P That old dub and the Amazon one has some of the worst acting/directing I’ve ever seen in dubbing. Particularly Misato and Shinji and most of the side characters in the Rebuild movies (Toji’s wife was so terrible). I remember Ikari being fine (John Swasey), Daman Mills being good, and (from the new film) the aged Toji being the best actor of the bunch despite being a minor character.

It boggles my mind that nowadays peple think the old ADV Eva dub was actually good. Outside of Asuka, it was generally derided as being bad at the time, as were most of ADV's projects.

Nothing gets on my nerves more when someone says "X dub sucks!" (usually one piece because well look at the thread your on) "the only good dub is dbz!" when… god pretty much every dub nowadays is leaps and bounds better than it it isn't even funny.
I can understand the nostalgia and there are some genuinely good things about it, but largely it is super unfaithful and cheesy. A lot of their mistranslations have become so iconic that they're the only ones americans accept, and are still used in the otherwise good modern dragon ball dubs. I think often about how made fun of the dude was commentating on the first macys thansgiving parade goku was in because he pronounced "saiyan" wrong... when that was aways how it was pronounced in the original lmao.
Like if you say that without a hint of self awareness or irony I'm honestly just not interested in what you have to say. These same people then proceed to complain about the one piece dub just has "dbz actors" which even the ignoring the ignorance of the industry and generalization of that statement... it literally is not even true. Like I think when people say this they're just referring to like the main cast, but half the straw hats where cast in one piece before dragon ball anyways.

Only 3 of the 10 straw hats so far reused someone who played a notable character in dragonball, although 2 others were given one piece and dragonball roles around the same time.
Even if they did have a point here, everyone clearly has more expierence and way better direction in newer dubs, especially one piece. Besides I fail to see why it would even be a bad thing since they hold the dbz dub in such high regard in the first place.

I have seen the case made that what happened to Miura and also the ever-worsening pandemic situation in Japan is one of the reasons why Oda has recently started to hammer home at the point that he is nearing the end and that, if all goes well, One Piece will end in about five years. The man himself may have come to realize that he might not have forever to wrap this up.
I'm not sure since Oda's emphasized the 5 year plan multiple times before either of those things happened.

I do wonder when netflix is gonna get the rights to more episodes, it’s been over a year since they first picked it up (as unbelievable as that is). I’m showing my cousin the show and the other day my blu ray player wasn’t working, so we watched it on there. It reminded me that oh yeah! netflix has literally the best feature ever where it not only skips the intro by default, but all the way to the title card. Anybody who has watched the anime even a little knows how much of a godsend this is.
Just a shame that it’s the special editions used, for the longest time it seemed we were free of the dragon ball treatment for one piece. And well, we still are, but the fact we’re still in the age where ruining a shows visuals is valued over them looking too dated is still depressing to me.
I think once we get to the actual episodes it’ll probably be the best way to watch the show.

Well the Zou arc is bookended by 2 filler arcs, one that’s 4 episodes and 1 that’s 3, plus Zou itself is 29 episodes so I think we’ll get 3 13 episode sets, and the 4 set will start with Big Mom’s opening number for episode 786, good start for a set.
Edit: If I did my math right (entirely possible I didn’t) Zou, Whole Cake, and Reverie will fit neatly on 11 sets of 13 episodes.

If not, think they will do another break? Would love to see them do the earlier movies. Last break they gave us a bunch of TV Specials…

Voyage 9 can only possibly be 14 episodes, and season 12, being zou and the fillers before and after, fits perfectly into three 12 episode sets. You can already tell how the seasons are divided on funis site.

Oh hi Sabo. I will say the logo choice is weird. Really… his hat and goggles? I looked it up the revolutionary army does have a symbol, though it’s not shown often. Even if it didn’t, the ASL flag is right there. It’s not as if there aren’t symbols they could use.
Same goes for the cover, but I gotta admit having a background that isn’t a flag is actually kinda refreshing.
Is there a resource anywhere that has a list of all the current dubbed episodes and their release dates? I'm not sure if there are any Wikis up-to-date.

This already happened with voyage 3 and collection 27. The answer is as frustrating as funimation can be, even they realize fucking over collectors after 13 years wouldn't be a good idea. The voyages are merely a formality, their existence has already been made largely irrelvant by the ever increasing gap between them and the digital and streaming releases. They're only still being released so people can form consistent collections.
Honestly, it probably just makes them more money to release it twice. They only have to create box art for it; the discs are the same.

I was thinking the same thing, but I think at this point for the constiency of my collection, I'm gonna stick with the voyages until FUNi just stops releasing them. I've been holding off on buying season 11 blu-rays because I've read and watched dressrosa multiple times anyways, so i should be able to get the voyages when they get on sale anyways.
Here’s hoping for a release next week.
