When Viola fights Doflamingo, was that a new music track? sorry guys I haven't watched OP anime in half a year
Well, once again altered some minor things so that Rebecca came off a bit better than she did in the equivalent manga scene. Her aunt too, because I don't remember Violet actually trying to use her Devil Fruit powers against Doflamingo.
Hisada's not slated to be next week's episode's animation director, put I wonder if he did some key animation/correction on it anyway, since that shot of Rebecca swinging her sword in the preview looks like his style.
I liked the Violet fight. Gave her some action that she never had in the manga.
So lately I've been looking into how to draw stuff…
…and I seem to distinctly recall being told loud and clear that the only conceivable way you'd get someone's breasts this clearly defined on top of their clothes, is if said clothes had specifically designed boob-bags in them. That, or she's actually topless and for some reason has decided to tattoo a dress-design on her upper body.
This might seem a very random thing to get caught up in, but... it just looks horrendously off. I mean this is hardly the first time I've facepalmed at the One Piece anime being drawn by a bunch of dudes who are clearly way too into drawing boobs, but this instance strikes me as being a bit more absurd than usual.
Other than that… Eh. It's an episode focusing on people pushing a wall, with a few brief bursts of action from characters I never cared much about to begin with. Plus it's of course further dragging out the climax of an arc that's already gone on for about a year too long. Color me not impressed.
^^Yeah, the boobs are way too excessive. I really like Viola's design otherwise, though. =/
Anyway, I actually liked this episode… Sure pacing issues, as with every recent episode... But I liked the suspense that animating the birdcage and the pushing brought in this episode over the manga chapter. You never get a sense of how fast it is moving in the manga... Still... There would have had to have been casualties at this point - how exactly are the groups pushing avoiding running into buildings? lol

Can someone get these animators laid or some much needed therapy because the way they draw breasts is ridiculous. It's one thing to make the characters sexy but they are making them look ridiculous. I know it's Japan but they should really tone down their weird fetishes

Nobody found the cage pace unusual? it was going too fast which makes the whole stopping cage thing absurd, also the thread that cut the building in only 4 pieces when well a human can't pass through them makes the whole situation again awkward.

This whole thing has been awkward from the start - from a distance, the cage's strings look like they're so far apart you could fit several people in between them, but up close you can't fit one person through them. Lol.
As I pointed out in my post, it's also absurd that the ones attempting to push the birdcage back have not been in the trajectory of a single building.
…But it's One Piece. What do we expect?

A somewhat decent episode. Not much I can say about it really.
However, I will say this: At least Viola's fight with Doffy was handled way better than in the manga.

Nobody said such thing.. in fact nobody hate big breasts, but in the manga it was totally normal unlike the anime.. anyway, if you're saying this's the same..

I found this episode to be pretty decent given the rather glacial section it was taken from. The Fujitora part in particular felt well executed, though of course the cage stopped for a full minute while everyone stopped pushing, because padding.

Aaaanyway, really pleased to see Viola got her fight animated.

Never thought I'd say this, but I thought this episode was an improvement over its chapter. It was directed very well, with no real plodding moments, and had pretty decent animation to boot. I really enjoyed Viola and Doflamingo's fight, it was very fast-paced.
Interested to see how 1 minute of time on-screen will be shown in 22 minutes next episode.
One Piece Episode 731: Bewbs
This was a pretty well-directed episode. The Viola vs Doflamingo sequence, the fake-out with Fujitora, and some of those touches like the first-pirson POV with puppet Rebecca and the new "taught piano wire" sound effect of Doflamingo stringing people up were particularly well done and welcome.
As far as filler, I think the best part was the "God Usopp" bit in which people help out of sheer terror of Usopp's wrath.
Art was kind of a mixed bag and the animation was at times choppy, but it was a good episode regardless.
Who thought it was a good idea to give Rebecca blushes on her cheeks while being controlled by Mingo??
Have you guys been reading a different manga and watching a different anime than I have for the past decade or something?

Oh yeah, I didn't comment on the end-scene really. That whole sequence I found rather unsettling. Deliberately, of course, it was supposed to be. But then all three of the seiyuu involved started really playing the reading of their lines (which themselves were rather…yeah) up to the point where it sounded like I was listening to, well...a rape scene. Thank goodness for the cut back to Franky's group afterwards!
