Yeah, I've known about this movie for a while now and actually randomly thought about it like a week ago. I didn't know it was actually coming out in theaters though. It looked like a straight to DVD or streaming service type of thing. Even if it's limited release that's still pretty good.
Here's the video that I think started their interest in this project.
@Sakonosolo:
^What do you mean by "regular action movie"? Like examples? I just don't see very many good action movies come out a lot and they seem to have various aspects forced into the movie that ruin it even if the action scenes are fine. Not to mention how they're edited, which as I say below, I love long takes and having movies like the Expendables 3 where every shot is like 2 seconds long just gets on my nerves as it feels so jerky. I think the most recent action movie I've enjoyed was Raid 2.
Here's another trailer. This is the one I initially saw.
The action looks pretty coherent and with long takes but it's hard to see from the trailer if there will be cuts or not. I just really love long takes so stuff like this makes me really interested. Also it has Sharlto Copley in it.
It's begging for a video game tie in too.
A regular action movie is a movie heavy on action with a bare minimum plot. The gimmick is the first person view shot in the whole movie. It's not a bad gimmick either. It looks very interesting. It's literally a new perspective.
As KingJC mentioned though it does remind me of 'Crank'. A lesser known example is also a pretty good straightforward action movie, 'Shoot Em' Up', or a better known one like 'John Wick'. These are all examples of "regular action movies" without the special gimmick that Hardcore Henry is utilizing.
