Nekomamushi seems to be based on the concept of the nekomata, which is a cat yokai with two tails.
He only have one tail though. Does that make Inumarashi an Inugami?

One thing that's always sort of bothered me about OP is the bounties….and the actual point them. So many people are going around with all these high bounties and we've NEVER seen a competent bounty hunter. There has to be a few monster bounty hunter crews out there right? Otherwise why would the Marines bother with bounties?
This could very well be an oversight on Oda's part. hHs not infallible afterall.
so that's one of the "side effects" of smilie? they probably can't fully change their bodies only parts.

Jean Ango is pretty okay for NW level.
some one quick, quickly call Zoro back, getting loss now, plus that crazy cat up an all, excellent.
Didn't care for this chapter much, but I think that stems from the cluttered art. Color spread was sick though.
Well this is a genuine surprise, but an appreciated one.
Gotta say, This is the best colorspread that I've seen in years.
Awesome chapter!
Those musketeers don't live up to their name. Why any of they are carrying a musket?
Get out.

They would probably go around capturing lesser bounties anyway.. no reason to go against 300+ mln guys when you can capture several 80 mln guys with a pacifista… Also, a bounty hunter would be OK for life after the first couple heavy bounties... counting How much an entire ship costs in the onepiece world
opens chapter up
EXCUSE ME, WHY IS ROBIN SMOKING ON THE COLOURSPREAD
other than that, good colourspread. I like it when there's less characters crowding them.
Very awesome chapter!! Both Nekomamushi and Inuarashi are pretty damn badass! :D
Jack and Weevil could be related, with Weevil being the second calamity, seems far fetched though.
Things that caught my eyes during the MGs read:
1. Hearing one of Jack's man telling how much he's worth followed by Jack's comment on how his underlines cannot shut up, is it a made up bounty? Who knows, but I have my doubts on the legitimize of the bounty. We didn't get a box either, which I'll assume we get when he's full introduce.
2. How the dog fell asleep as soon as Luffy asked the question, will answering that question reveal something that we are not suppose to know just yet, maybe.
3. the cat's comment about stubborn dudes on the sea.
OMG, that colorspread, fuck mr. burgess! I had to make a post only to praise it before keep reading the chapter.
Seems like many people (not just here) still don't understand how bounty - power level works in OP. Also that many are underestimating both Jack and the Rulers of Zou.
Pretty decent chapter.
I hope this arc has a strong plotline to it. I'm quite certain there's a poneglyph hidden somewhere in the "whale forest", and that elephant has been about for 1000 years or so, I'm sure this is Luffy's time to show some of the ability of his to hear the voice of all beings. Inuarashi and Nekomamushi are very strong. I still think Jack just underestimated them and is stronger than them both individually. But there's Edward Weevel to join the arc surely, I wonder who will turn out the main boss (I go with Jack, and Weevel making a Kuma-like appearance like on Thriller Bark). Still so many possibilities though. It's less hectic than Dressrosa at the moment.
Man, Robin would tear Jack to shreds for desecrating history if Oda would just let her have another real fight. She hasn't fought since Skypiea.

Can't wait until Luffy unites night and day through chance.
Could someone remind me again: despite Duke Inuarashi swearing Raizo not being on the island… then why is everyone coming to Zou to look for him? Kinemon and Kanjuro included?
why Jack and the jacklings are searching in Zou, not sure, but maybe was because Kin, Kan, Momo and Rai were going to Zou, before they wrecked and KanKinMomo ended in Dressdrossa. and Jack was following them.
Also it seems that Samurai and Wano were taboo words before Jack's arrival
damn oda, always keep the story about shanks again.
I like how everyone is smoking on that cover but Luffy is sucking on a lollipop. Oda must have been channeling his inner 4kids.

I wonder if he ever saw an episode of the 4kids dub and laughed at how bad it was.
anyone afraid the enemies of this arc is going to be the minks?
And this was the day, i understood bounties were BS.
Pretty cool chapter.
The dog manage to be peaceful without taking it to ridiculous level like Riku.
Jack's troop doesn't seem to be doing so bad.
I like the cat way appearance and he looked good throwing an elephant.
Yep, Jack is still failing to impress me.
Good chapter. I enjoyed it. Really liked when the Duke mentions that the country is too rich in history. This may introduce us to some dark past concerning the Void Century. I was also surprised when the Duke stopped Jacks attack, left me in awe. And then when Nekomamushi stepped in? Sweeeet. The design is just crazy I love it! I immediately liked his character. As for Jack, idk why, but I picture him resembling a punk from like Borderlands. Its probably the eyes….
The smile users seem to have an adverse result on their abilities, although the crew seemed to have adapted to this, wonder if its the same effect for all users. The comment made by Jack saying that his crew doesnt know when to shut up gives me the impression bounty may be fake. Like some already said, no official text was shown.
A thing that bothers me though... whats going to happen when Kin and Kan finally meet up with the crew? Will the Minks turn on the SH or will we finally get to know whats the deal with the samurais.
I wanna know about the history of the Dukes also. They were once UNSEPARABLE and outta nowhere they can't stand each other? Something messed up must have happened. Another detail I enjoyed was Inuarashi mentioning Shanks! And same thing as Rayleigh and everybody else... That Strawhat really fits you. I definitely enjoyed this chapter. And the color spread? Just whoa! I want it in a poster!!!
Man, I loved this chapter. And if I managed to enjoy it as much while reading the spoilers… gotta be stronger next week and not spoil myself (but wait... a break? The breaks in this arc are being cruely timed, huh?)
The minks are turning out to be everything I hoped the dwarves would be (I like the dwarves as a race, probably my favorite, but, damn, every single character was a disappointment! And the Tontatta tribe as a whole was terrible. I seriously hope Luffy meets another dwarf tribe at some point and they redeem the race). I mean, look at the minks: the race is funny, the warriors are badasses, and man I am enjoying those personalities and designs!
Inuarashi and Nekomamushi are great in both senses (personality and design. Especially Nekomamushi with his cheshire cat pattern, smoking his pipe and wearing gettas). The musketeers are great (I instantly fell in love with the… the... what the hell is that thing? A mischievous fox?). Only Wanda is boring, but once I saw her in her musketeer attire she skyrocketed! That's one great female character design, it makes me hope she will turn into the D'Artagnan of the musketeers (although her personality still need an upgrade for me to genuinely root for her).
What else? Nekomamushi seem to fly just like Carrot, so it's not a DF in case anyone was wondering.
And, again, that colorspread. I swear I spent nearly 10 minutes on that page before reading the chapter. Not only it is one of the best looking ones, I am really happy that Oda chose Brook, Franky and Robin to share it with Luffy (the three forgotten SH, as to say). I hope this means Oda wants to focus on them - at least Robin and Brook are getting a lot of scenes so far and that's a VERY welcome change.
I still am not a fan of the huge bounty inflation, but whatever, I loved everything else this week.

It's not really an oversight. Bounty Hunters are just really hard to write into this kind of story as they usually only have interest in money. By nature, they are not moved by stuff like justice, freedom, hatred, etc. which are very explored in One Piece. Even Zoro just became a bounty hunter in order to survive.
Most villains tend to have stronger convictions and motivations.
I noticed the record Brook was holding had the very literal translation: Binks of liqour
nice chapter though. Oda really doesn't want us to see Jack's face yet though. Nekomamushi is really cool. I wonder if anyone will ever recall Roger when they recognize Luffy's hat, since it was his before Shanks.
I find the mammoth form of Jack cute on the middle top panel of this picture. He looks so adorable with his small, mammoth tail
!
anyone afraid the enemies of this arc is going to be the minks?
Considering how beaten up and wounded they are, that would be kinda cruel.
It's refreshing to visit a badass country
Well, the citizens of Zou are a million time better than Dressrosa's citizens.
First of all, kudos to Inuarashi for pulling that same gag on Luffy where he falls sleep during stories.
Am I the only who thinks Inuarashi and Nekomumashi look like McGruff the Crime Dog and The Cheshire Cat respectively? I love both their designs, the latter even more so; he really treads that thin line of looking badass, but not something I'd like to run into at night.
Jack's 1 Billion = New highest current bounty in the series…...............Awwww Hell Yeah!
Break Next Week = Oh Hell No….....Goda DAMMIT!!
jack kinda gettin trashed out here in these streets low key…. >.>
jack kinda gettin trashed out here in these streets low key…. >.>
He's gotten his ass whooped twice now in the span of a week. That 1B bounty must be a misprint.
He got flipped over, then instantly got back up to his feet. What a jobber.
Loved the chapter too, even if much of it was sheer eye candy. Great designs all-around.
Also, I'm getting the impression that had the Zou fighters fought as a single unit under both kings, they could have beaten Jack's crew. In other words, their rivalry cost them that battle.
I noticed the record Brook was holding had the very literal translation: Binks of liqour
Seems intentional because the Japanese catch-all for liquor is sake, so Oda must have figured it should translate to liquor.
Also, gotta love "Pirate Beer" in those aluminum cans. Is it just me or does it seem like all those cans were Robin's?
Looking at those guardians. Is that tiger Pedro?
This makes me want Wanda to join the crew even more.
First of all I loved that color spread. The hottest I've seen Robin in a while. Second of all, Jack being one billion for a bounty was a big surprise, but I don't think that we should doubt it being legit. If it wasn't then Jack would have denied it. And remember, he's in Kaido's crew. If it is 100% confirmed to be one billion, then that totally ups the game as to what kind of bounties we should be expecting for the Yonko. And that means if Luffy's going around beating them, we could expect him to reach one billion sometime in the future. That or become a Yonko himself. Third, the relationship between Inuarashi and Nekomamushi is interesting, and in a way most likely reflects most relationships between cats and dogs. But Inuarashi knowing Shanks means he's been around for a while, and may have had connections to the Roger Pirates. Lastly, we're going to have another break, but these chapters more than make up for how well the series is doing, and with a great story going for the current arc.

Another reason for bounties is to lead the close associates to temptation. I have the feeling that actually happened to Croc. After realizing that he's no pirate king material one of his crewmates decided to turn him in (which of course failed) - therefore resulting in Croc losing his ability to trust anyone.
Zoro come back. You're gonna get lost in the whale forest right?
Color page is awesome. Love that Brook is given a chance to shine.
The mink tribe is certainly making a good impression. I love all their design. I wish Wanda kept her musketeer design instead of wearing Nami's clothes.
But then again, the dwarves were quite impressive initially before they got "too stupid to live" disease…
With seeing that one SMILE user turn his hand into a wolf's head, and remembering Marco and Onigumo being able to selectively shapeshife their limbs, I wonder if regular Zoans can do that as well?
Also how has no one commented about the color spread? It was incredible. Robin & Brook have rarely ever looked cooler to my knowledge. The dancing colors on Brook are also particularly eye-capturing.
I thought the color spread was pretty incredible too. I like how it was drawn, and I liked the different poses that were shown as well.
And Brook kinda reminded me of Daft Punk too xD
Cool chapter, seems that with the characters we got today we are mostly done with introductions, the flashback will probably end and the whatever the arc objective is will start soon.
The designs of the Minks keeps being awesome I love all this furry bastards and its awesome to see them all being able fighters too, they keep implying the ancient history of the country so I'm really expecting a poneglyph or something void century related here.
Holy shit Jack has 1 billion bounty and the old man beat his ass(from what we saw at least), I'm hyped for what's coming.
PS. Color page was awesome but I wanted to see more reaction to the bounties this week.
and another break. lol. last one was three chapters ago…
And thats how it has mostly been for the last 2 years, we don't need people repeating and whining about it every damn break, Oda has a break every few chapters end of the story.

Looking at those guardians. Is that tiger Pedro?
Not sure, I would say he is but assuming him the Gorilla and the Bull are the strongest 3(like the Musketeers for the Dog King) he will probably appeaar with the other two but he did seem like a Tiger to me so if it is him awesome, I love Tigers I love axe wielders(rpg berserkers) and he has my name, what more could I ask for :).
underrated classic

With Inuarashi being able to stop Jack's attack just like that and Nekomamushi throwing him, I am very hesitant to believe Jack's bounty being true. I know that bounties do not really reflect strength, but still.
On the topic of the battle in general, I do not necessarily have a problem with the Minks having the upper hand over Jack's men, as I believe some people did last week. In my opinion it only goes to show just how dangerous the New World is, even for a Yonkou's crew. Still, Jack should be able to shrug this off easy and make a comeback, even before using the weapon.
IMO I dont see why it's hard to believe there could be two near admiral tier opponents in the duke and master
I think oda's intention isnt too show jack as weak but these guys as strong
@Mr.:
Not surprised by the break in the least bit.
But man is Jack hype!
Jack is hype?
Nekomamushi seems like a beast.

Looking at those guardians. Is that tiger Pedro?
I'm not sure but I'll go with no. Pedro's silhouette showed him missing a piece of his left ear. Both felines seem to have all their ears intact.
