I wonder if Ash Greninja and Twilit Lycanrock will stay region locked,.
They'll probably just vanish after this game, like notch eared Pichu did.
Though they have global trade and banks now, so there's way less excuse for that.

Notch eared Pichu was completely pointless though. Ash-Greninja and Twilight Wolf are at least unique Pokémon with their own strengths and weaknesses to set them apart from the other 'mons, and not just… a reskinned Pichu who can't evolve but who otherwise is just a regular Pichu.

I think a better comparison would be the Ash Hat Pikachus.
It would be a real shame to lose them though, given the extreme hoops people had to jump through to get them all.
I think Cosplay Pikachu wasn't transferable either.
Of note is that totem Pokemon are also currently locked to gen 7. Have tried putting them in pokebank and it doesn't accept them.
! Is it the same Lugia?
When they brought back Mewtwo it wasn't the same genetically altered Mew clone created by Team Rocket in a test tube.
Did you forgot those things can actually have offsprings?
Yeah the anime canon established that Lugia is a rare species more than purely one of a kind
Its not a mechanic, and some legendaries are either constructs (The Regis), Deities (Arceus and the DPP trio, the B&W trio, the XY trio, the Tapus), ancient demon like things (The RSE trio, the djinis), revived dead eevolutions (The beast trio), representation of abstract concepts (Darkai, Cresselia, the lake trio), some weird impossible phenomena (Deoxys, Necrozma?), or experiments (Mewtwo, Genesect).
Of the rest I could buy actual reproduction (The bird trio, Ho-oh, Lugia, Mew, Celebii, Lati@s, Heatran, The Muskedeers, Nebby's final forms, Victini, Jirachi, Manaphy)
Thank Arceus that they slowed down on the legendaries on gen 6 and 7, granted they filled the void with Ultra Beasts but it feels less plot contrived than the 10+ legendaries of gens 4 and 5.
to this day, I'm not sure why they didn't just give heatran a preevo and make it a rare find in mt. Stark
literally no reason it had to be a legendary

4 had way too many, and even though 5 had only one less, it felt better since the designs were more varies, compared to the lake trio and Manaphy/Phione. Plus there wasn't one that seemed as inconsequential as Heatran. I think most fans will probably prefer the legends in gens 1 or 2, but I think gen 3 has the perfect sweet spot. The three cover legendaries that make sense for the story and the world, two roamers, a mythical mew-type, and a more powerful mewtwo type (deoxys). The Regis and the mechanics/puzzles are get them are a neat treat. Doesn't feel like too many, and the ones that aren't essential to the story feel essential to the world.
Gen 6 has a nice group, but they waited too long to reveal anything about half of them, including waiting a whole generation to make Zygarde relevant. Diancie and its movie also sort of suck, but I enjoy Hoopa quite a bit. Don't really know what to make of Volcanion. Gen VII is probably my least favorite batch of legendaries. Some of the ultra beasts are cool, but the Tapus are too samey and Marshadow hasn't had much to go on yet. Magearna is possibly the most forgettable mythical pokemon of them all. The cover legendaries are cool, though, but I think all of them are great besides Palkia.
Both Heatran and Magearna are highly popular pokemon in competitive circles and get consistent use out of people. Felt like mentioning that since they're being labelled as "inconsequential" or "forgettable"
Did you forgot those things can actually have offsprings?
Mewtwo can't, though. :P
My point was that the anime doesn't really seem to care about honoring older characters.
Whether it's the "same" Lugia or not is honestly a bit of a nonsensical question, being that this movie isn't in the same continuity as the last Lugia-movie…
There is a free Regigigas if you have Sun or Ultra Sun. We came out losing as Moon and Ultra Moon get Heatran.
Mystery gift like last year's lil dudes.
Oooh, Regigigas… with probably the single worst ability in the game. "Attack and speed are halved for first five turns sent out".
Not even "five turns of battle",or with a slow 10% increase per turn just... crap stats.
If it had doubled defenses prior to that point, or it just had some super crazy ridiculously high attack stat... it'd still be dead in the water.
Even Slaking's awful "sleep on alternate turns" is better because at least it gets the first turn.
Well, I'm pretty sure that my Regigigas (and most of my legendaries) aren't "real", as I either poke-gen'd them during the 5th gen, or I traded them for a guy who wanted the whole pokedex, but just traded Suicunes or Tornadus for them on the GTS between the japan launch and worldwide launch of the pokebank.
So should get it at least.
Back in the DS days, it was possible to get pokemon simply by changing the DNS settings on your router….which I will admit I did to score the event-only at the time, like Deoxys or whatever you when I played White 2.
Outside of that, my cousin got me a shiny Manaphy in my Pearl via action replay....which Bank would not take. So it and the new UM/US legends are the only Pokemon I lack.
That is the advantage of the GTS fake mon method, as it was comming from the GTS it had to be mostly legal, and it was harder for it to fail of the bank. The legends, and the ditto harem.
My "fear" is that I won't be able to transfer my mons to the Switch game, not the fakemons, but the proper creatures that I've been collecting since gen5 because my american DS and my european switch don't use the same nintendo id.
But with these yearly give outs, It will be just a matter of time, if I care when it comes around.

It's one of the few Pokemon that can't even learn Protect. And substitute isn't really useful either since the speed also halved. Even if he had full stats from Turn 1, normal type isn't threatening
If anyone's still into Go, I just got a code for 3 Egg Incubators and a Lucky Egg, expires in 3 days:

I mean if you consider a Jynx in studded leather dirty, then maybe?
Or a S&M party that can all use Vine Whip?
Finally beat Ultra Sun yesterday. I've been occasionally playing during lunch breaks at work since the game released half a year ago. Again I turned off EXP share and didn't grind on wild Pokemon at all like Vanilla Sun/Moon. I didn't use battle items or the Rotom powers because those make the game too easy. The totem battles were even harder and the Pokemon selection was fun. My non-Alolans were Zoroark and Malamar, two Pokemon that can really demolish the AI no matter how much you're underleveled. I used Salazzle this time and it's a godsend. Nasty Plot + Flame Charge? Not the most efficient way to sweep teams but she was the anchor of my team for sure.
It's been forever since I played Gen V, but it feels like this sequel changed even less than B/W2 did. The game was pretty fun but there was a reason why I didn't log a minute at home.
I'm starting to get withdrawal symptoms. Where is my pokémon fix, Gamefreak???
Guess it is finally time for me to make a second run of a game. Can't erase that save from Sun yet, still too attached, so X is gonna be. Nuzlocke run? Nah. Little Cup? No, gotta save that for a game with Salandit. Mono type? Hmmm…
I always like the Shiny Badge Quest.
If you’re in shiny hunting I mean
Pokemon Lets Go Pikachu and Pokemon Lets Go Eevee
Sounds like a set of spinoff games or virtual pets.
Its basically a Yellow Remake except built around the stuff from Gen 7 and Pokemon follow you again.
More Generation I pandering with Pokemon GO influence?
Jesus christ. Even I wasn't this pessimistic.
I don't play go, but I don't mind it having Go integration, what is the big deal if we can transfer Pokemon from go to these games? they are trying to get casual players to buy the Switch with this, nothing else.
As for Gen 1 pandering, yeah I'm getting tired of it, Gen 6, Gen 7, movies reboot and now another game pandering to Gen 1…I hope the games are good and its a different story, not just a remake, something more like BW2.
Just to be clear, this is still in the realm of rumor. Nothing has been confirmed yet.
It does sound stupid enough to be a Nintendo product, but there's still reason to hope this might be fake.

I'd love to be optimistic like you, but Serebii acknowledging it really puts it into the realm of things getting real. I wanted to be skeptical of these 'leaks' (especially that god awful image from a month and a half ago which looks like a 3DS game with the same ol' 2.5D graphical nonsense - I still hope that is unrelated and fake, but I don't know whether it is unrelated or not), especially since Pokemon is historically not something that really leaks before release. However, Serebii having to acknowledge it on his main page just kind of puts the final nail in the coffin.
I still hope it is fake, but that's just not looking likely.
Optimistic? lmao, no. It really is so stupid I think it might be real, more than anything because leakers and rumor-mongers would be more likely to opt for ACTUAL fan-desired content, as people like to believe and hype about things they want.
What puts this in the realm of being possible is the fact the logic of this idea comes from business people thinking money and not fans thinking about what'd be cool.
It's not out of optimism that I hope it's fake, more so out of experience with rumors and leaks of the pre-E3 season and just how easy it is for things to go viral without reason. The safest conclusion after years of industry hubbub and disappointment is to just wait until things are actually announced before crying foul. Particularly since even when a leak is actually a leak sometimes the "flavor" of whoever told the rumor misses the mark or misinterprets a mechanic, much like how a One Piece spoiler can make a chapter development sound exceedingly stupid due to failing to capture its execution.
Yeah I'm not super excited to be visiting Kanto yet again, but with Serebii posting the rumor (and his talk all year hinting that the first Switch games wouldn't be Gen 8), I think this is the one. Kanto again would be okay, if and only if they revamped the region, put in the Johto mons you could only get in Kanto in GSC, added some Kanto variants of other mons, kept the Sevii Islands, and in a perfect world, allowed us Johto postgame.
Having said that, I'll still buy it regardless so Let's Go Eevee!
Wow, just wow. I've been saving up in anticipation of buying the next Pokemon games and a switch, but this. Yeah, I have absolutely no interest in a return to Kanto for anything but a second region. If these rumors are true, I guess I have plenty more vacation money.
I'll be honest, I'd buy a 3D remake of Red/Blue. Shrugs
a big reboot of Kanto would be cool with updated route and city layouts to make things more expansive and natural-looking
being able to go into Pewter City and actually be surrounded by mountains would be really cool, imo
But you can have a more natural-looking and expansive environment that is also, you know, new.
I just really don't want to cave to the genwunners.
i'd also like Gen 1 to have a good remake instead of the wet fart we got on the GBA too so i can't say I'm particularly averse to it
but new is always nice too, so I'm fine either way i guess
(also I feel like toxic anti-genwunners are more prolific than actual genwunners at this point lol)
I don't think that the time aligns up. Pokemon go is about to be 2 years old, the next game being changed drastically or started in these two years seems like too fast for them.
While I could accept a proper fleshed up kanto, and I have played a lot of go, changing the mechanics of capture or making you take the switch around seems dumb.
Also, wasn't this confirmed to be a new gen?
Also, wasn't this confirmed to be a new gen?
Nope, Nintendo has literally said nothing about Pokemon Switch since last year E3. There was some news piece somewhere at one point where someone was saying it would be a new gen, but it was not an official source.
Website domains have been registered, so there it is, these are real.
I honestly don't mind going back to Kanto as long as the region is appropriately remixed, and the leaks describe these games as being a spiritual remake of Yellow rather than an actual, straight-up one. It is the GO stuff that's concerning but I'm convinced we're not getting the full picture here because I find it really, really difficult to believe that Game Freak of all developers would completely throw one of the core tenants of the franchise completely out the window.
I still think the "you can catch Pokemon like Go" is just us throwing the pokeballs using the joycon, we got pokemon transferred to the games from other stuff like the mini games from PGL, etc don't see what is the big deal with doing it with Go.
Also guys, don't use Serebii as confirmation, he learned it like the rest of us, so him believing the leaks/rumors like us wasn't any kind of confirmation.
Hopefully they can add some new pokemon to the dex, they just did that with new Ultra Beasts, maybe some forgotten pokemon can get some new evolutions(like Farfetch'd), also bring back megas and give me Johto starters megas and maybe some Kanto variations of Pokemurica or Pokefrance mons.
Let's Go! Pikachu and Eevee, huh!? Well, more spinoffs for me to not give a crap about, because no way in hell those will be the names of main games.
Guess I will keep occupied with my bug run of X. Since I only played the first game of each generation, never did a rerun of any game until now and always make my teams with only newly introduced pokémon (a rule I broke twice to allow Butterfree in my Silver and Sun teams), there are a LOT of pokémon I always wanted to use but never got a chance to, so I'm loving finally using all those bugs I always liked but never gave a try.
My only rule for this run is to not use Butterfree (because already used it in 3 of my 7 teams) and Yanmega (plan to use it on a Gen 4 remake). As of now half my team is composed of Bug/Poison, so coverage is extra limited, but whatever.
Wow…. I guess we have confirmation this is real... and it seems absolutely awful....
I'm willing to forgive a lot here. I don't mind that it's Kanto again... the games are 3D now so it'll be kinda neat to experience Kanto in 3D... Hell, it being stated as "Yellow Remakes" means this might be the remakes for Gen 7 rather than the actual Gen 8?
Linking with Go in a general sense seems fine, I don't mind the concept that you can transfer Pokémon from Go into the game or get some items for having both of what have you...
The "Remake of Pokémon Yellow" and the version names however? Those tell me you might not be able to pick a starter. Which would kinda suck and would lead credence to the whole "this isn't really Gen 8" idea...
But the thing that looks absolutely awful is that it looks like they're replacing the gameplay with that of Pokémon Go..........
No.... no..... No no no no no
!!!Pokémon Go's gameplay is ridiculously dumbed down specifically to make it a mobile game. It's fine for what it is, but it DOES NOT WORK as an actual main series video game. ESPECIALLY because we are FINALLY supposed to be getting the first home console Pokémon title you can play on your TV… and it's going to have ridiculously dumbed down gameplay meant for smartphones?!?!?!
GOD DAMNIT!!
The more I think about this the more enraged I'm getting.
I'm sure some fucking marketing person or board member at Gamefreak or Nintendo was like "Hey, that Pokémon Go thing was popular! Just Do that!!! But Charge 60 bucks for it!!!"
UUUUUUGH
I've heard more that "gameplay like Pokemon Go" just means "you get to throw the pokeball yourself"
Why y'all so reactive all the time lmao
Also, did we get confirmation of anything besides the names? I don't think up to this day we had a single batch of rumors of the innumerable rumors we get that had every information being true, if anything they have 2/3 of their infos right when the thing is really good.
I wouldn't be surprised if just one or two informations of all those that supposedly go together with the "let's go" prediction turns out to be accurate. If at all.
