I believe at this point black lightning should be associated with conquer haki. Wano gave us plenty of hints.
Ulti displayed lightning, and I don't believe she would have Conqueror's Haki. Same for Who's-Who, whose use of Tekkai was followed by black sparks, which confirm they're more of an CoA thing.
The black lightning is actually fairly common.
Again, I say CoC should have been shaded like gold or silver. :P
From what i noticed COC lightning seems to be thicker and much longer, and can span for hundreds of meters or even kilometers.
COA range is more limited.
Also COC will always produce black lightning while COA seems more random.

Hold up, moles? I heard that Dinosaurs are related to dragons because they are dug up and ancient. Is the digging aspect part of why moles get bunched up there? Oh nevermind, I just read that it is due to them swimming through the ground like earthworms.
Kinda off topic, but Ocean's Dream is my favorite filler arc. I've been suspicious of those making the anime hinting a bit too much that isn't even in the manga. Maybe Uranus is a Dragon that is milked in some form for a resource to power/supply a product. If Oda does decide to involve some natural dragon, I expect it to be goofy looking, but majestic.
I might be mistaken? But, I think I remember you having a theory, that in the end of the series, characters that have died, would be able to communicate with the living? Like, Nami being able to talk with Bellmere, one more time?
If I do remember that correctly? Do you still feel that way? Do you think this Lineage Factor, Oda has introduced with the Seraphim, is setting something like that up?

@Shiebs I'd say that for once this isn't an Oda misdirect and we're actually going to Elbaf.
He pointed out that the only functioning log pose needle right now is pointing to Elbaf and it does tie the current loose threads of Ohara and the Lost Century.
It's looking to me that Egghead was the first arc on the Ancient History Saga. Kinda like when the crew got to Jaya and decided to go to the Sky Island, at this point there are still somethings to take care on the current island but after that is a straight coup de burst to their objective.
This being said I still remember Garp telling Luffy about the New World after Ennies Lobby and expecting that to be the next saga and we got hit not only by a surprise Thriller Bark but also a crew separation, a war, and a timeskip.

Depends if Vegapunk and Bonney are aiming to go there I'd say. Luffy already went through trouble of rescuing them, and I'm sure Usopp and Robin would understand if they wanted to go somewhere else.

Judging from the latest set I think he only has a day or two more that he's doing.
I will say, I've know Greg for most of the period he's covering, and some of the behind the scenes, and some of the moments still hit me pretty hard. Oda's note, maaaaan. The feels.

Well done, Greg — the live action production was so lucky to have you! The first episode was amazing and I’m excited to see the reception over the next few weeks. My girlfriend, not at all a fan of OP/anime/manga, really enjoyed it too — and I consider that a win.

Very happy to know you're doing okay! The tweets about your condition back then sounded very concerning and I was sad I didn't have anything I could give to support other than genki dama power. There's a lot of thoughts about privacy and boundaries nowadays but I'm happy we got to be treated to all that, I'd love to memorialize it here somehow. I just wanted to drop a quick one and I'll finish reading the posts after work. If only I could express how thankful I am for you being here and what you've done for the community and for me personally without sounding too much like a sap...

Just a thought I had: Currently I m rereading One Piece and it happens to be that I just finished Water 7. I completly forgot that Kuzan was the driving force in the background that Frankys people were not held accountable. Without him Robin and the strawhats would have been attacked with more force during Enies Lobby. Given the fact that Kuzan represented "lazy justice" I saw that in a more positive way. On the other hand “justice” seems to change its shape depending on where the person stands - so he says. In the end it is quite fitting in a different / in a poetic way that he quit the Marine: lazy justice. Depending on the angle and arc and especially in the light of Garps words “ALL of you, are the future of the Marines!” "lazy justice" hits different.
@The-Light-of-Shandora makes me wonder what the chances are that Kuzan will betray the Black Beard Pirates, and if he does, will that happen before or after the 1 vs 1 fights with the Straw Hats, and if he does face off against a Straw Hat who exactly would that be
if true that's like (considering the break schedule) 40 or less chapters left. Unreal lmao.
The intro to this Netflix interview about the live action also says that he "plans to personally close it out by 2025", but it's worth keeping in mind that that's not part of the interview or a direct quote or anything, it seems more like they're just going off his last public statement to summarise the man and his work. But it's still interesting that they kept it in there, as well as some of the possible interpretations of their exact wording...
Greg just keeps brininging it up because so many people took it seriously at the time even though that was clearly not going to happen unless Oda really hunkered down and rushed a bit.
And for a little while, t seemed like he might be. Oden's flashback started setting up and covering a lot of material that would otherwise need to be a flashback for Roger/Laugh Tale later, and he started speedrunning and offscreening stuff like the samurai facing Kanjuro, and then taking them all out in a single chapter against Kaidou.
But... that Oden flashback was the longest in the series. And after Oda got past the rush to chapter 1000, he backpeddled and redid all the things he sped through, and it just took another two years to get through the Kaidou fight... he can't help himself.
He was really determined to legit go for it for a couple months I think... and then didn't enjoy the results he was getting from rushing. Even when Oda said it 4 years ago I said there was no way he was doing it in less than 8.
So then he bought himself another year when he answered the SBS question a year later and stated "five years" at that point.
And more recently he realized there were people taking him at his word and worried he was rushing, so he had to reassure us "it'll take as long as it takes. But final arc, honest!"
I estimated ~1200 chapters for about a decade, but Cakeland and Wano both went so long I switched my estimate to 1300 mid 2021 when we had a better idea of the Wano timetable.
30th anniversary still seems about right, but that's going to be entirely dependant on if he can do Elbaf in a year/40 chapters, If he does then it's feasible he wraps in 2027. If Elbaf is another mega arc though, there's just no guessing and it'll be as long as it will be.
Also, do you count the 30th anniversary as January 2027, July 2027 since the series started in July, or June 2028 because that's a year? That's 40-60 chapters of wiggle room depending how you count.
July of 2027 would put him at about 1,260 chapters, June of 2028 would be closer to 1300.

The idea of Nami using refraction to counter Borsalino is a really fun one. We've all tunnel visioned on Atlas's light gloves and missed a great possibility. It's tough to see the arc getting from where it is now to a point where Nami's somehow the last one standing against an admiral, but I still enjoy it conceptually.
Man, I remember all the years and years ago when Sabondy was happening in real time and we had no idea what was coming and haki was only the vaguest of notions and there were all sorts of theories about how they would handle an admiral. With dials and mirrors and all sorts of things.
Kinda fun to see that coming back around now.

Greg talks briefly about Bonney being a child, he highlights that when she was captured by Teach she was shown as an adult and while covered in sea water she was a child.
Greg also makes the connection that the Drums of Liberation and Luffy's "red" attacks might be the power source Vegapunk is looking for.
The ancient robot might start, with a simple command by Luffy.

Clearly the Lunarian and Seraphin wings are biological in nature, but has it ever been any indication of the shandian, Skypean or Bilikan wings being something they are born with as well?
I ask because, does big mom has a winged ex or child? If she didn’t, and Uroge showed up to her door, then she would list 4 tribes she needed to complete her harem, unless the Uroge incursion went completely hidden from her, you’d think she’d want a piece of that or mark the sky tribes in her black book as “seen” instead of caught.
So either big mom network dropped the fact that Uroge had wings, or the wings are a kind of accessory, also supported by Enel’s drums.
I imagine that big mom was looking still for giant, lunarian and bucaneer. I do wonder how she failed to get a giant husband tho, there was Saul island as well at least .

Greg, I don‘t know if you can talk about this but do you know whether Oda‘s eye condition has improved after the surgery? I noticed that the art has been getting even rougher lately, with very thick inking.

After the horrific incidents at Elbaf concerning Mother Caramel, Beardfall(?) and Mountbeard(?), giants world wide probably heard of her and were disgusted. Steering clear of her as much as they could until the Loki and Lola(probably Pudding) situation came along.

What was first the devil fruit or the belief in their power?
Did Yokais like Saturns devil fruit exist in the One Piece world before Devil fruits were created/came into existence.
Saturns Yokai is also known as the ground spider and he is known as the earth star, so could other Elderstars have a similar Yokai theme which matches their planets name.

The latest chap is easily may fav of the arc because of how Oda has handled Kuma...handling Bonney.
I am over the moon that she isn't his actual blood daughter which basically makes Kuma my male Belle-mere from here on. While Kuma was THOROUGHLY thought out even at his debut (source: me...and OP Magazine interview w/ OPP's Andou-sensei) there is no way in hell he had every last detail of Bonney set in stone*....

Somehow!!!! That glorious bastard somehow made every aspect of her down to her design and seemingly throw-away name make absolute perfect sense in her relation to a character he established over 20 years ago. Crazy, crazy man.
This is why we got that ultra-sloppy intro to Kuma's youth, so we could get to this. And no, it will never be golden era OP, but it's a lot better than some of his rushed tales.
Also saving the mystery of God Valley is a masterstroke in blue-balling the entire fanbase. Bravo.
