Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !

Pretty sure WB stated that Teach wasn't "the one Roger waited for".
For all we know, the one roger waited for and the one of legends might be 2 different people, luffy being the chosen one by fate is just too straight forward, I never seen oda write something that predictable, can't wait for when we are both wrong and he just blows our mind.
-
Lmao, how rude.
Possible fake leakings are important, mkay?
My friends always tell me im unintentionally a dick lol im sorry XD
-
@Gia:
Switching topics to an important one: does anyone else think Shuesha will halt Jump at any point due to the pandemic? Oda and his assistants obviously work in isolation, so i dont see Oda ever stopping at least right now. Does Japan have a good grasp on containment?
I would prefer all of the staff's safety over getting a new OP chapter weekly, but man the thought of losing One Piece during this dark time makes me feel uneasy. Not that its the only thing I have in my life but i do get nervous thinking about it
I think Jump will keep going on for many reasons, but the main one is: you cant ask japanese people to stop working. Its never gonna happen, sorry corona.

Who is the one roger is waiting for and who is the one of legends?
What has Oda written if not straight forward and predictable on stuff like this? I think you may just be indulging wishful thinking.
-
There's many narratives
- SH crew vs the WG, I see the Rev Army, affiliated & unaffiliated nations and Warlord subplots falling under this
- Luffy's top rivals - Law and Kid
- the juxtaposition of Luffy and BB
- then there's the Ancient weapons, Void century and D clan mysteries
- Whatever happens after attaining what the Roger Pirates got and surpassing them due to the time and circumstance being right
Anything else would fall under these. Which of these may hint at who the true antagonist is? Is it who Shanks is warning the Gorosei of? I always go back to one of my fav chapters since the timeskip, Empty Throne (907).
-
It starts off with the Rocks narrative through the infamous Den Den Mushi call, Garp and some of the Admirals and even Akainu and Kizaru speaking on whether or not to interfere.
-
It shows someone telling Stelly about what we know as the facade. The lie that even the Gorosei mentioned with Cobra possibly disrupting things. The Charlos/Shirahoshi debacle not only examplified the facade and unfairness, it showed that things aren't straightforward. Characters like Otohime can change the CDs like Mjosgard.
-
It ends off with Shanks warning the Gorosei in similar fashion to how he warned WB of Teach. I have no proof, but I have a feeling that it isn't Teach. It might be someone that poses the same amount of threat and is the mastermind behind the current conveniences.
Is this character connected to the facade narrative that has continued and involved Alabasta and the Rev army? Is this character behind the convenience of the former Rocks Pirates currently being in the country of a pirate that impressed both Roger and WB? Or is this character connected to both? Can this character be a D. clan member? Last time it was Teach. Xebec was said to be dead. Is Weevil really WB's son? Or is he some else's kid? He could possibly neither. I rarely see any of this questioned. Bakkin had to be a Rocks Pirate. Would there be another crew that WB was part of? Doubt it
-
Who is the one roger is waiting for and who is the one of legends?
What has Oda written if not straight forward and predictable on stuff like this? I think you may just be indulging wishful thinking.
If the story is not going for "HE IS THE CHOSEN ONE! IT'S HIS FATE, HIS BIRTHRIGHT!" is indulging wishful thinking, so be it, I'd rather hope for one piece to surprise me like it always does then using a cliche and safe narrative everyone predicted a while ago.
Roger might be waiting for someone like luffy, but does that mean luffy should also be the chosen one of old legends? We need to think outside the box a little
"what if it's actually about Robin"
"WHO is blackbeard? what's his real past"
"what about Momo in all this"
"what did joyboy promise" "what about the ship in fishman island"
I don't know!!! no one knows but Oda (and maybe Greg to some extent) but im sure as hell it's not some predictable plotline any amateur can write -
Blackbeard is a thief and if the small amount we know about Rox says anything, he may have inherited his will. I think he'll be king of the world and Luffy will be king of the pirates.
-

Of course we don't know everything for sure but their are things that make sense and don't make sense. Things we know will happen and won't happen. Going for "unpredictability" just for the thrill of it is not good.

For me it's 2 different people
From what I understood
The one roger is waiting for might be luffy, someone who will also reach laughtale/raftel and continue what he couldn't .
The one of legends/of Promise/The chosen one might be someone else (the new Joy Boy, the one related to Noah, the ancient weapons and the opening of wano's borders, etc…)
1-Might also be luffy - the predictable cliche narrative
2-Might be someone like robin/momo - less predictable but still makes sense
3-Might be let's say no one it was all a lie / or it was buggy - the I SUBVERTED YOUR EXPECTATION!! path which is horrible <-- this one is going for "unpredictability" just for the thrill of it. -
Well Luffy is probably both so get ready to be disappointed. I think it is just simpler for Oda to pin both on Luffy so he's going for that instead of splitting them and making things more complicated. I really can't think of anyone more fitting to be "joyboy" than Luffy too. If Oda can though, that would be great.
-
F off Buggy being the messiah would be the greatest plot development this series ever saw.

What's happening in the One Piece world started 800 years ago. Teach has been around for 40. It is increasingly apparent the very reason One Piece exists is to set things right in the world. Someone is meant to inherit the treasure left by Joy Boy, discovered by Roger, shoulder the burden of history, and confront the ones who hold power. That person is not Teach. Luffy will face Teach, the primary rival for the right to inherit the treasure. But Teach is not the one Roger is waiting for. He's not the one destined to inherit One Piece and change the world.
You can wish for 'One Piece to not have a prophesied hero', but the ship has already sailed on that. Quite a long time ago.
-
So what if Teach has only been around for 40? Luffy has only been around for 19.
Teach is not the rival for "One Piece". He is the rival for the "Will of D". Luffy represent the good side like Roger did and Teach represents the bad side like Rocks did. Rocks ambition was to be "King of the World". Blackbeard will achieve that. That's what Shanks warned the Five Elders about.
-

And Rocks failed. There is already a secret world king. If that world king could be stopped without One Piece, there wouldn't be much point to One Piece existing would there?
The Will of D and One piece - they both exist to fix whatever is wrong with the world and whatever that is started long before Blackbeard was born. It absolutely matters that he was only born 40 years ago because Joy Boy left the treasure 800 years ago. This started in the void century. Roger found the treasure too early. The pieces were not yet in place. Shirahoshi wasn't born yet. The time wasn't right yet, so he turned himself in and crafted his dying words to guide a successor to reach the treasure at the appointed time and finish that which he could not. Nowhere does Teach factor into that equation. Rocks wasn't the enemy Roger failed to defeat. He was the enemy Roger did defeat. The enemy that Roger couldn't face is still out there. Whatever needs to be done requires One Piece.
Teach is just a pirate. He has been in a position of relative power for 2 years. The Poneglyphs, Joy Boy's message, The Will of D., One Piece - they all exist to stop something much bigger than the ambition of some pirate who was not yet born when they came into being.
Becoming Pirate King isn't the end goal. It's a necessary step toward fulfilling the will of D. That will is likely to stop whatever force controls the world. So, yes, Teach is the rival to that as well. Fulfilling that will is not the end unto itself. The will exists for a purpose.

Watch Luffy and Black Beard team up to fight against Im like Naruto and Sasuke did Kagyu
I don’t actually think that will happen but it would be funny
-
Why would Oda not let Shanks say Teach if it's him. I don't think it's Teach that Shanks is warning the Gorosei of
-
Why would Oda not let Shanks say Teach if it's him. I don't think it's Teach that Shanks is warning the Gorosei of
Yeah, it's Rocks
-
My money is on Shanks being there cause of Black Beard
And Black Beard being the final villain
-
We got the history of Shanks constantly snitching on Newgate about Teach.
And all the stuff happening in the intermissions between acts is always half of it.
For example;
An incident happened involving Alabasta-But not gonna say what
Something just happened to Sabo-But not gonna say what
Morganz was getting bribed to cover up something-But not gonna say whatSo it makes sense that Shanks only said half the sentence, because not only Oda avoided the name, but also the reason Shanks would have to give The Gorosei for them to be concerned about.
So its pretty much Teach.
-
Teach didn't set his eyes on anything until the Reverie news broke out. Something else was going on when Shanks was warning the Gorosei. The last BB Pirates related news was the Baltigo clash. Teach was not hinted to be up to anything in particular until the Reverie was already over. If it's Teach, why is he moving based on the news of what recently happened and not something else that was hinted before?
-
Teach likes telling people his plans as we've seen back at Impel Down he was going to explain CrocoBoy, but he went with 'nah, actually I don't care', so Teach couldnt tell him.
There's a brawl between Teach and Shanks that we haven't seen yet(the one Shanks received his scars), so its likely thay Teach revealed Shanks his ultimate ambition, at which point Shanks thought it could be stopped by snitching it on Newgate.
Then, after the timeskip, Shanks would have no other option but to snitch him on The WG now that Newgate is gone and Teach stands on equal ground with the other Yonkous, but he had to waint until The Levely when eveyone was busy and no one would notice Shanks(a yonkou) wasn't guarding his territories.

Roger also "failed". Blackbeard would not be a secret World King. If it wasn't for Roger, maybe Rocks would have been World King. No need for One Piece.
All that started long before Luffy was born too. So what? What does Blackbeard being 40 have to do with Job Boy leaving the treasure 800 years ago? That's right. Teach is not meant to do what Roger couldn't but what Rocks couldn't. What happens when Blackbeard does what Rocks couldn't before Luffy does what Roger couldn't?
Luffy is also just a pirate. So what happens if Blackbeard simply beats Luffy to the punch?
-
I don't see the point of not mentioning Teach's name. You don't have to say or hint at what he's doing or going after exactly. There's just no point in keeping Teach's name hidden right now.
Teach didn't make a move until the recent news broke in the 950s. He was shown to not have a motivation for anything until that exact story broke. The last intentional move was to go after the Mera Mera fruit and that was shown to be Jesus job. If it was Teach, there would be a hint beforehand. His last interaction was an unintentional clash w/ the Rev Army.
It's less likely to be Teach because Oda has done this before with WB and had no issue mentioning Teach by name. Most of that chapter was about Rocks, taking Shirahoshi and the throne facade. These things aren't sequenced together for no reason.
-
Who else could it be if not Teach?
-
If that's so, I dont see the point in hiding it whoever the pirate is, we already know the names of the most threatening Pirates out there, Luffy, Kidd, Law, weevil, Teach, Kaido and Linlin.
Luffy's name is the only one that makes a difference because it leads to "Shanks is secretly evil', as for the rest it applies the same reasoning of Oda just leaving the cliffhanger there just to have one.
-
Are those the only threats left? We were just introduced to whatever Im is. Gorosei were supposedly the highest of authority on the WG side for 900 chapters. If there was someone close to be as threatening to the Yonkous, but wasn't exactly a Yonkou, this would warrant not revealing the name right away.
Teach was only some chess moves away from being a Yonkou while under WB. How can we totally cancel out an unknown character that has been plotting for a while? We've seen Shirahoshi (a weapon) almost get kidnapped, the throne facade that the Royals are lied to about and the Rocks narrative. These are the clues. Shanks warning WB of Teach makes him possible, but I don't think it is him.
The narrative threads have been continued as mentioned before via Teach, the Warlord system hints + reveal, the Rocks talk (God Valley Incident, Sengoku's skepticism, etc) and the Rev Army's invasion. This can go many ways imo
-
Okay but who is it if not Teach?
-
Shanks was pretty clear 'I came to warn about a certain pirate'
Besides The Yonkou and The Worst Gens, Weevil is the only other one considerable enough, and talking about a suposedly 'not yet introduced pirate' is pointless.
Besides, if there's one thing Oda loves the most, is throwing names of characters he'll introduce much later(Jinbe, Dadan, Vegapunk, Ryokogyu), so if this was the case, Oda would have more likely just thrown the name of unknown person, the fact that he didn't(for like the first time ever??) Kinda points out that we're going for an already known pirate.
-
We have characters in the science field that can produce things that can warrant getting rid of the Warlord System. 1/3 of what was supposed to balance things.
There's multiple Underworld Emperors, not dealers, that have no issue skipping out on a Yonkou's invitation and were said to be notable by Jinbe.
Vergo infiltrated the Marines and took advantage of it. We saw how far up the ladder Teach could climb with the Warlord status.
I had this same exact discussion during Dressrosa when people said the Gorosei were the top authority and there was no one else that mattered.
Dragon, before mentioning the Reverie invasion and clashing w/ the BB Pirates, spoke of a mastermind behind the production of the Liquor Iron Ore weapons
An unknown character or someone else making Teach less likely is only logical because there's no point at keeping Teach's name out of it. It's not like we know what Shanks is worried about and Oda is keeping the reveal of the name out of it. He's keeping both the name and matter out of it for a reason. While sequencing these other narratives right next door to them.
-
I would say that the game changing factor here, would be that Shanks is aware of the existence of Imu(thru the rio poneglyph story of Joy Boy) and he just pretends he doesn't know.
This would mean, Shanks went there to indirectly warn Imu himself of a mere pirate, which would leave Imu at an awkward position because there's a Yonkou out there that considers him a smaller threat than a pirate. -
I wonder how Blackbeard's implied traumatic background will affect his goals and ambitions in and whether they're hints at him being more sympathetic, or even more despicable?
-
except for maybe the old man from after Marineford who people think is Scopper Gaban
What does the old man look like? I don't know if I remember this. I only know about the one with the Wano hat with Crocus that people speculated was Scopper

Okay, just follow me for a minute.
There is something deeply wrong with the One Piece world. Whatever it is has been happening for 800 years or began 800 years ago. Whatever this thing is, it was so significant that the World Government wiped out 100 years of history (more on that, but I think this is also bigger than erasing a few history books). Joy Boy lived during that time period and seemingly failed. One Piece was left in the most remote, difficult to reach location in the world. Joy Boy's allies, the Kozuki Clan, created Poneglyphs, a secret language, preserving the truth and guiding the way to the final island where the history of the world is hidden. These stones are protected by ancient civilizations, all of whom tell variations on the same story - a day when a messianic hero will set the world right (The Minks - the light of the new dawn; The Fishmen - the hero and the Mermaid Princess who will guide them on the road towards the sun, etc.). They have guarded this secret for 800 years. Many, like the scholars of Ohara, have died in effort to protect the truth. Whitebeard, who knew the truth of the world and the D's, remarked that "When the treasure is found, the world will be turned upside down. The discovery of One Piece is the key, the trigger; It is the impetus for whatever is going to happen to fix the world.
Roger didn't fail. He didn't try. He arrived too early and his days were numbered. He had a terminal illness and the pieces were not yet in place. Shirahoshi wasn't born yet. Shyarly told him the number of years it would be and Roger, knowing he would not be the one to confront the world and reveal the truth, decided to disband his crew. He went and either met or reconnected with Rouge, had a son, whom he believed would be the successor to his will and re-discover One Piece (Newgate also believed Ace would be the Pirate King). Oden returned to Wano and advocated the opening of the borders for the promised day that would come 20 years in the future. Roger then turned himself over to the Government, taking advantage of his public execution, and crafted his dying message to inspire a successor, to follow in his footsteps and re-discover One Piece. As Rayleigh said, Roger turned his dying light into a roaring fire. He intentionally created the Great Pirate Era. Why? Newgate, Rayleigh, Oden, Crocus - many people in the world know the truth. If he believed Ace to be the future Pirate King, why did he not leave the route to Laugh Tale? You have to ask why he left it to fate to decide the future Pirate King and successor to his will. The only answer can be that both the journey and the destination are important. It is not only vital that someone discovers One Piece, but that their voyage follows along the correct path to reach the final island. What is Luffy's greatest power? His ability to make friends / allies of anyone he meets - even those who were once his enemies. See Crocodile and Buggy at the Battle of Marineford as an example. The person who faces the world with the truth, with One Piece, will not do so alone. They must have friends around the world, who can only be made through a long and difficult voyage. They can only attain the path to One Piece by courting the favor of those ancient and disparate peoples who guard the Road Poneglyphs. The path has been preserved this way for centuries. It was designed to be this way. Only a certain type of person can reach the final island. Only two have done so from the time the void century began - Joy Boy and Roger. Someone will rise up to claim that mantle soon. The promised day approaches. Newgate, as he died, looked down at Teach with pity and said "You're not the one Roger is waiting for." It won't be Teach to reach Laugh Tale and claim One Piece.
Rocks dreamed of becoming the World King. Roger faced him at a time before he discovered One Piece. He did not know about the great force that must be confronted. When he died, he was not inspiring a successor to face Rocks, the enemy he had already defeated. He was thinking about the enemy he did not have the time to face.
All of these people throughout history have been preserving One Piece such that the right person may someday be able to bring the light of the new dawn. If it were possible to defeat the darkness which already inhabits the One Piece world without the treasure, these efforts would be nullified.

He has a tattoo on his face and is bald. I only know about this because every shitty youtuber has a video confirming they're the same guy and when I google image Scopper the picture kept coming up. Google him and you'll see.

As Blackbearder i fully expect Blackbeard to take a hammer to any prophecy. It is sort of his thing, to be the outside force no one accounted for, like if the WG / Chosen one struggle is a poker game Blackbeard is the guy flipping the table mid-game. To my mind he doesn't factor in to being or not being the chosen one because he doesn't play by those rules.
-
I know ever since Imu was revealed, a lot of people thought he (it?) is the great final villain, but the WG, as a whole, has been a largely reactionary force, even now, they are mobilizing because of the continued lack of their desired balance. Both Luffy and Teach are equally chaotic in their disruption of this, as Imu considers both of them threats to his power.
Just like how people like Kaido, Big Mom and Whitebeard also were pillars of stability in the pirate world, all three eventually will fall (or already did for WB), so too will Imu, and the chaos only ends when one of the two D.'s are left standing.

I know all that and my point is Blackbeard might throw a wrench in that not by doing what Roger couldn't but what Rocks couldn't. I think Shanks knows that and that's why he went to warn the Five Elders like when he went to warn Whitebeard and look how that turned out.
-
So Ive always thought (at least since we got more info about Rocks) that Im and Rocks are possibly the antithesis of one another.
-
Rocks: Pirate, destructive, desired to be King of the World, etc
-
Im: WG affiliate, royalty, possinly control oriented, hides behind the shadows.
Now its clear Blackbeard may have some some intentions to be like Rocks or model after him (his ship is named after him), but I got to thinking, what if Rocks is still alive?
Now yes, 40 years ago, Rocks was bested by Garp/Roger. But what happened to him? We only received a sillhouette, presumably because we'll get another flashback with Rocks and his crew eventually. I think a big clue to this is what actually is God Valley? Why were they there and why did Celestial Dragons exist on the island then?
Why did Oda introduce this inhumanly powerful character from the past if hes only relagated to the past? Some people might say that you can compare this to Fisher Tiger and the like, but Rocks was allegedly stronger than everyone at one point. So I got to thinking, and I feel like people have had this thought before but:
What if Toki, being a time-hopper, sent him to the future after he lost? Its clear when she sends people through time, they end up in the same location (Kinemon, Momo etc still at Oden's castle). So it begs the question, why, if Toki resided on Wano 800 years ago, leave the island? What was she actually doing? This is a question not yet answered by the story.
Could this be the "lurking legend" Oda was talking about? Could there be more to this character on the present? Could characters like Shiki, Silver Axe and others rise to form a current Rocks group after Wano? Is Blackbeard Rocks reborn?

What the hell is happening towards this Manga's conclusion?
Are Im and Rocks meant to collide? I really dont know, but man only focusing on Kaido rn is crazy. Theres so much left to tackle

This has nothing to do with your point as a whole, but from what I remember, Toki has never been to Wano in the past. Her parents were born there, but she doesn't remember anything of it. She can't leave somewhere she's never been or at least doesn't remember

I like flashback characters more when they're dead.

My whole thing is Oda doesnt make a clear indication of Rocks actually being dead or God Valley actually being destroyed, just "The Rocks Pirates were defeated" and "God Valley's location was erased by the World Government"
Just….interesting. i know both of these play a part in the end, but how is the question. Why was Rocks even there? What is the signficance? Just to kill Celestial Dragons? Why would two D. Clan members truly care about what another D. Clan member does to CDs.

Sengoku said Rocks died.

Xebec is possibly dead, but something fishy is going on

We just don't know the full story. We just got a glimpse of it. Oda is bound to come back to it.
