Big Mom’s story is going to be one of redemption, killing one of your old teammates that you just reconnected with isn’t really redeeming
Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
-
-
Who said that would redeem her? Besides, Kaido is a top notch asshole. If she is meant to actually become "good" in Elbaf then killing Kaido will hardly hurt her chances.
And she has to accomplish something in Wano since we know she won't have her way with Luffy. Killing Kaido will give credibility to her character and sets her up nicely for Elbaf.
-
After Rocks lost at the God Valley Incident, there were rivalries like Garp vs Roger or even WB vs Roger. Were there others that actually cared for the OP? Linlin does.
Many of the speculations that are made to end the story in this thread have left out many things, especially the Supernova. I think most think those guys are just more allies than rivals. Even Law seems like he wants the OP when the Yonkou are out of the picture. The WG and Teach aren't the only obstacles
Im inclined to agree, however i do think Kid will cap the supernova plotline by being the one and only rival Luffy has until he loses to him in some way. If Wano does not paint Kid as a loser (Kid receives a victory similar to Luffy's) , or make him a permanent ally, im going to assume he will have Kid confront Luffy in the future. Just a 1v1, no clash between crews.

How about Law? What is his role in this? Kid has CoC, so he's a king, but Law is a D. and that might play into his goal and if he views Luffy as competition. I look back to Law's convo with Sengoku and how he's questioned the meaning of D and his purpose.

There is only one way kaidou can die.
Moria will steal his shadow and leave him in the sun.
-
If Moria steals Kaido's shadow and he is exposed to the sun; the sun explodes.
-
What is the message that Neko has to deliver to Luffy from Marco?
Why does Kaido owe Linlin?
Who is Shanks warning the Gorosei of?
I think all 3 of these will play out as Kaido's defeat nears. We have the Wano issue, but Kaido's Rocks narrative as well.
Last arc, we had Sanji and Linlin's past as the 2 major flashbacks. This arc is Oden and Kaido. This is probably why Kaido's intro to Wano and Higurashi's past wasn't expounded on in full.
-
Not sure what Marco's message for Luffy is and why Kaido owes Linlin but I'm pretty sure Shanks warned the five elders of Blackbeard of course.
Kaido and Linlin both have the "Rocks" narrative.going.for them.
How long were the Sanji and Linlin Flashbacks? I don't really remember. Oden's was 16 chapters but it wasn't as focused on him as Sanji's and Linlin's flashbacks, right?
-
I'm pretty sure Shanks warned the five elders of Blackbeard of course.
After marineford and the last two years when he became yonkou do gorosei really need warning about BB?
I think it's about luffy, shanks knows luffy got the attention of gorosei now that he became 5th yonkou but luffy can't handle full wg force right now and tells gorosei that if they attack luffy they attack him. Luffy's picture was among the lights Im was picking for erase.

Kaido wants a cool, big, Epic death. But he's a bad guy so he's not gonna get it. He'll die a lame, stupid death after all is said and done. That's gonna be his punishment.
-
It seems this blog has some details about the live action pilot script. (Its not rare that some journalists can get access to pilot scripts in advance, but of course we don't know if this one is true or fake). https://boundingintocomics.com/2020/03/16/exclusive-plot-details-revealed-for-netflixs-one-piece-live-action-adaptation-from-alleged-script-leak/
- According to the article,we will get introduced to Zoro already in the first episode, and he also has a lot of screentime.
-There is also a sort of introduction to Baroque Works, with the detail revealed in the manga that BW asked him to join - We see Smoker,Sengoku and Kong during Roger's execution!
- We also get introduced to Coby and Albida
- Luffy's story with Shanks is basically the same

I think this precisely why Kaido should get his epic death. In a way he’ll be the only antagonist in the series who will achieve his goal, a goal that doesn’t get in the way of Luffy
-
Eneru got to the moon, wapol got his kingdom, Caesar lived to see another day, Moira is poised to take his revenge, doffy is having a one man party in the bottom of hell, Lucci is the attack dog of the government, crocodile got a new lease in life, Hodi got to grow old with his friends, no one remembers kuro, alvida is beautiful and buggy made it big. That’s a quite long list of antagonists with accomplished goals.
-
I just want to see Gin. I hope oda didn't forget about the promise gin made.
But the farther we get in NW and closer to raftel, the less likely it is for gin to be here. Random underling in yonkou crew or subordinate of supernova is like the best bet at this point to see gin. Or maybe he is a marine now… or revolutionary…
Maybe is part of BB pirates non main crew, like some fleet, or shanks???

We dropped the pretense at the end of Whole cake island and made clear Luffy is much better than the others and is coming for the emperors throne. I don't want to go back to that place where we have to pretend the other supernovas are his rivals. Especially for big mouth loser Kidd.
-
The biggest chance was already missed in Dressrosa, where the dude who has been planing his vendetta for 15 years was not strong enough to fulfill that and had to play cheerleader for Luffy.
-
It's just pretty sad that Roger had Newgate, Rox and Garp on his era, and Luffy is just around going unmatched in the freaking golden age of piracy.
let us have hope in Kidd!!

Yes because Blackbeard is probably after Imu's throne now.
No. Its definitely about Blackbeard.

Luffy is not unmatched. It is just different from Roger's era.
Kid will probably be handled not much differently than Law.
-
Luffy is not unmatched.
By his contemporaries of the Worst Gen? totally unmatched.(except Teach oc)
It is just different from Roger's era.
Yes, there are more pirates now than in Roger's era, there should be more people playing on Luffy's league.
Kid will probably be handled not much differently than Law.
Most likely scenario indeed.
he's going to warm on fodderizing people(like Law)
we're going to learn a lot from his past at one point(like Law)
he's going to help Luffy land a clean Red hawk(like Law, just kidding.)
and then he's just going to stay away from the fight probably with a limb cut off, watching Luffy getting all the glory to himself.(like Law)Which is sad, Luffy deserves a Newgate dammit!!

Yes. The "worst generation" captains are his rivals. He might be ahead of them but teach is definitely ahead of him so it evens out.
Their are about 8/9 playing on Luffy's league.
Kid won't be handled too differently than Law but also not too similarly I reckon.
I'm not sure Luffy "deserves" a "Newgate" because as I said; things are are just different for Luffy. Having him completely parallel Roger would be a mistake.
-

Teach fills up the Rox role, but no Newgate in sight.

oh come on Luffy's the only one to have taken down three Shichibukai and two sweet commanders, and is currently considered the 5th emperor, no one of the supernovas plays that league.

I just don't find the reasoning in the era of 20 years ago when there were fewer pirates around, Roger had better competitive rivals, and the freaking golden age of piracy with tons and tons of pirates, Luffy is the only one achieving things.
-
Teach fills up the Rox role, but no Newgate in sight.
.
Law is newgate. his fruit even has same price as wb's Bounty, 5 billion.
-
Personally, based on what we know and where we are right now, I'm inclined to think that Luffy and Law will either be very friendly rivals after their alliance–as in, mostly friends with a minor rivalry--or not be rivals at all. It would make sense for Luffy and Kid to have a stronger "rivalry" (even though, yeah, from a reader's perspective, it's clear Luffy is certainly superior) because Kid has all-but-explicitly stated that he wants to be Pirate King, but as far as I remember, Law has not. There were some things in his earlier appearances that might've implied that was his goal, but based on stuff that we've learned since then, it's pretty clear that, if Pirate King has ever been something that's interested him, it's played a distinct second fiddle to his dream of avenging Cora-san and bringing down Doflamingo. Hell, he's hinted multiple times that he was prepared to die doing so and even somewhat expected to, and was okay with it as long as his dream succeeded.
Now that it has and he's free to live his life how he wants, maybe he will decide to pursue the PK throne more seriously, but at this point, after everything he's seen of Luffy–his personality, what he can do, innate abilities he was born with like CoC and VoAT--it wouldn't surprise me if he decides to endorse Luffy as the "D" carrier most worthy of holding the title. Regardless of what he chooses to do, while things could potentially change by the end of the arc, it currently seems pretty likely that they'll remain on friendly terms even after their formal alliance is done.
-

Their is no need for a "Newgate".
And it was mostly sketchy. The "fifth emperor" was "fake news". The "worst generation" are solid.
Luffy's story is supposed to be essentially different than Roger's though. He is not the only one achieving things but it may seem that way because we pretty much only follow him.
-
I think the successful pirates of this generation are the Yonko. Whitebeard and Big Mom were already established in Roger's day, but Shanks (and Kaido it seems) only reached their current power after Roger's death.
The Supernova are all rookies with only 3 years of piracy under their belt. They would all end up ruling the seas eventually, but that takes time. Luffy is just a freak that's gonna achieve the greatest things before turning 20.

Bege is the Newgate, he is even called father by his crew. There, much better.

Thoughts on the backlash Oda is receiving for the upcoming interview with Nobuhiro Watsuki?
-
When is the interview coming out and any clue what they will be talking about exactly?
I don't care for the backlash but I hope Oda knows what he's doing.
-
I think it's for a Kenshin anniversary exposition, so they're probably gonna be talking about Oda's time as Watsuki's assistant.
-
So until next month then?

If this is true, I was waiting to see what kind of things would be used that the manga really hasn't gone that far with. It's just the execution, but this is kind of big if true. We didn't get this guy until war time. The liberties that adaptations take, can sometimes tell you about the main story's future. Maybe Kong has a story to tell or direct involvement coming in the future

Altough that would be great.
Something along these lines

Luffy's rival to inherit One Piece is Teach. The two will likely clash before Laugh Tale. Blackbeard isn't the end series villain.
-
I enjoyed this movie, but whenever American writers use narratives to shame other countries for things that happen here as well, I cringe. "If you don't like it here, leave" is their motto because the US is so much better.
The vigilantes that chased down the Kurozumi and the people around the world that celebrated WB's death come to mind here
-
The script 'leak' sounds like bullshit to me. My fan script opens on Logue Town and includes Sengoku, Smoker pushing through the crowd, so I like that bit. First thing I imagined as the opening to the series. Including Kong would be really bizarre considering he has only appeared once in the manga. I don't think young Luffy makes for a compelling first episode. Even the anime pushed it back to I think the 4th or 5th episode of the series. Even Lost didn't have flashbacks until the third episode which focused on Kate. Locke and Jack who are probably more 'central' characters didn't get flashbacks until the 4th and 5th episodes respectively. Honestly, it just doesn't seem like all of those things could fit together in a single, cohesive episode of TV, even at an hour long. Young Luffy and Shanks flashback, plus introducing Alvida, Koby, Helmeppo, and Morgan, plus Zoro's flashback… with extra parts featuring Mr. 7? And they still find time for a super deep cut character like Kong? No way. I'm calling bullshit. It would be a tonally inconsistent, incoherent mess.
-
For all we know, Blackbeard might be the "chosen one"

Young Luffy was not a flashback and doesn't seem to be a flashback in this script. It was how the series actually began. We got 17 year old Luffy after a timeskip and the anime pushed it back because it alone wouldn't have been the best way to get people interested in the series. You must not be familiar with television. You can easily cover all that and more with a movie length or near movie-length timeframe which this series will have.
The first chapter alone (which covers the Roger and windmill village bits) would easily fit into a 20 minute anime episode (and it did) and you really believe they wouldn't have enough time to fit the rest of the stuff listed? Lol
You're also propping up Kong way more than needed. Him appearing briefly isn't going to change anything regarding the time.
-

What does that mean?
Amazing. Every word of what you just said is wrong. I fundamentally disagree with everything you just said and believe it to be a severe misreading of the series.

Would this be what Kaido really wants? The OP or at least Laugh Tale was said to have the whole story on the Void Century, meaning of D, and some details concerning the Ancient weapons. Kaido was taunted by Oden about underestimating his Samurai. Oden even said Kaido's drinks would be about him. I think Kaido kind of mirrors Kata in this instance. Not saying Kaido might be this honorable or a stand up guy. Just that he comes from this background where only the strongest survived in the Rocks crew. Kata told Flampe that a man's fight shouldn't be tampered with. I think Kaido dislikes that Higurashi interrupted his man's duel.
It's simple, but not really. Kaido is ok with Orochi using a spy. His crew uses weapons that would be deemed unfair, but it's a pirate thing. Yet, when he's dueling with someone powerful, he wants no interference. It makes sense to me at least. This powerful person (Oden) is kind of telling him that he's ok with dying because someone else more suitable is coming. That had to leave Kaido curious. Curious to hold Momo up and he left unsatisfied. When you look at Kaido's past interactions, his Momo interaction makes perfect sense. He's sizing him up and wants to know who is or are these strong individuals that are no where to be found.
Now, when the time travelers arrive, Kaido definitely wants to get what the Scabbards know. He wants to know who is this big bad ally that Oden was ok with entrusting everything with. I think that is what Kaido is after and I don't think Kinemon and the others have that answer on mind. They're just moving with Oden's wish in mind. Who they bring along for their cause is probably not on their mind when it comes to what Kaido wants. I think this might be the misunderstanding that some have with this answer to Zoro's question
!

I'm very familiar with television. It's not just about time. It's about narrative and tonal consistency. There's no singular narrative connecting those things. It just seems really strange to even bother mentioning someone like Kong. With a show which will undoubtedly have a large cast, why on earth pay any attention at all to a character whose importance isn't at all clear at this point in the story? It makes no sense. Even from the standpoint of an adaptation. I understand live action is a completely different medium. I suggested making Morgan a major character for the first season, absorbing the role of Nezumi as Arlong's Marine conspirator to create a central narrative arc for the Marine characters. I think this does not read like a genuine television script. Could be wrong, but it seems like a mess.

Keep these in mind
- Sengoku wasn't shown at the execution in the manga
- this might not be true
- there's a chance that many characters were present at the execution and their narratives might be kept for the future in the manga

Oh yeah, Kong, he's a thing that exists in the story.

Switching topics to an important one: does anyone else think Shuesha will halt Jump at any point due to the pandemic? Oda and his assistants obviously work in isolation, so i dont see Oda ever stopping at least right now. Does Japan have a good grasp on containment?
I would prefer all of the staff's safety over getting a new OP chapter weekly, but man the thought of losing One Piece during this dark time makes me feel uneasy. Not that its the only thing I have in my life but i do get nervous thinking about it

Possible fake leakings are important, mkay?
