I think he included quite the ammount. I mean, remember all those quirky chefs? He certainly had a plan for them.
He got so bored that he keept on introducing plot points left and right on the rushed chapters. We'll never have the official numbers, and while on decline toriko still pulled tons of sales, but the fact that the split up happened when there were 6 continents left, and then the slope started when we were 5 and a half continents away from the conclusion makes it very clear that Shima wasn't in complete control of the conclusion.
Introducing characters and techniques to give them initial focus and development only to completely ignore them for newer, shiniers characters and techniques was Shimabu's modus operandi from quite early on in the story.
To be fair, I don't think he got bored. I think the ratings / volume sells were low or something, so they pretty much effectively axed it around Cooking Fest arc.
Manga sales peaked after the start of the anime, with volume 18 having the highest recorded number, a little short of half a million. Afterwards, the sales were in decline, but even after the end of the anime individual volumes were still making over 300000 copies, more than a year into the Gourmet World. So Toriko definitely had a chance to stabilize after the Cooking Fest and the end of the anime.

With exception of Rebecca's plot thread, Dressrosa did pretty much everything it set out to do both narrative wise and character wise. Whatever, this is a Toriko thread, not One Piece one.
Cooking Fest completely ignored half of the manga's main characters, started a kidnapping plot only to resolve it offscreen, introduced a variety of new chefs only to give one a proper focus, and pulled the cheapest of twists to exchange Bishokukai who were built up from the beginning of the series for Neo of all things, the same Neo that proceeded to be completely irrelevant in the following arcs. A few decent fights - excluding a volume long fight of the main character which was his dullest until the Acacia slog - and one good flashback was a little to late to try and insert some emotional conflict into the series.
Man….only a few hours to go until we can enjoy to final moments of Toriko! What a trip! I can't wait, but at the same time i'm so sad!

Analyze the sales numbers for Toriko volumes in comparison to other mangas and you will realize that they weren't that bad. Volumes 33 to 35 still sold more than 300.000 each and in 2015 Toriko was the 42th best sold manga series. This year, there was a decline but the volumes still sold around or more than 250.000 each (http://www.millenniumforums.com/showthread.php?35475-Toriko-Volume-Sales-(2016)).
A couple of chapters that are basically a break of pace with different characters, doesn't mean that the author is especially fond to continue this manga and develop it properly for another 6 or 10 years.

Yup. Pretty much nailed it. If you'd just tacked on the final few pages of "and then, SPACE!" to last weeks chapter, it'd have been pretty damn satisfactory. Or if this chapter was just focused on one specific space adventure. Reading through pages upon pages of the Gourmet Genesis, I was just thinking "shut up and eat something!".
Oh well. Still a better ending than Bleach.

I got to say, that final page spread made up for most of the rest of this chapter. Really shows that Shima has that creativity in him and the idea of a gourmet space adventure would be amazing. It would've been nice to see Terry and the others actually duking it out with another animal trying to take the spot of the king.
Overall the wrap up was solid even if we had to get some exposition about the space stuff. There's only one thing I can say as a send off for this series.

After seeing the sales numbers and after seeing that, consistently, from around the Cooking Festival, the author has rushed and has skipped proper development while favoring heavy exposition as a substitute, it makes perfect sense that the author has become tired/bored/demotivated/uninspired and wasn't fond of prolonging the manga for another 6 or 10 years, with the decline in the sales also being a factor of course. But, if you really don't think so, that's your right.
You are also not taking in consideration of how the series hit the bottom on the TOC rankings.
Because that's the least important factor of all. Compared to sales numbers and the motivation/disposition of the author, it only has residual importance. No manga is going to end if it has good enough sale numbers and the author is motivated enough to develop it properly and continue it for many years to come.
I'm satisfied. Toriko was awesome.

You all just said what I wanted to say. So I have not much to add. Thank you, members of our little commune as well as Shima for making this manga. I had a great time reading it.

On some level, I do like the concept of space being the next frontier for the group to explore, with space seemingly having its own lore that almost mimics what went on in earth.
It's just a lot of tell not show.
Life has been strange for me at the moment so I don't know if I even want to reread this whole series, but I enjoyed the parts I enjoyed, and they gave me a lot of entertainment. Shame the flaws of Shima's writing just got dialed up to 11 and he seemed to lose his creative edge about halfway through the series.
To me this chapter was really bad, but it's the end of the series so I don't care. It was a nice journey untill Bambina, then all went down. Anyway, thanks to Shima for Midora, Jirou, Ichiryuu and some other cool guys.
That is a well-looking ship Toriko got it.

I want to say, I agree. While the ending was rushed.. the rest of the series was very well made.
The manga never felt like it stayed very long.
And they seemed to close up a few loose ends there.
Now I'm curious about the new manga he's making.
I'll also pretend the chapter before this one was the last…This was far too wordy without much impact. I liked the parallels between the first chapter and the final. But he didn't even show the other heavenly kings. Just overall a meh finale.
Even in it's last chapter the manga couldn't resist some bullshit exposition, pretentiously obnoxiously huge scales, writing out major supporting characters and arbitrarily tacking on "gourmet" to everything.

In case anyone missed it btw, the spread with Toriko fishing was exactly how he was introduced in chapter 1. Nice little throwback.
As pointed by Sandman, this week's One Piece chapter's cover was a tribute to Shima.
In space they will develop the ability of "Gourmet Gravity". A force that attracts strong individuals to good food. Used correctly it also lets you shrink said sources of food down to a size concentrating their flavor and making them small enough to prepare and eat.

Re-red Ice Hell the other day. Still such a quality arc, nothing else in the series came close imo. Sure, the stuff with Livebearer and Bambina were fun in their own way, but it was more like "what lulzy shit will happen next" than a solidly constructed bit of battle shonen.

This chapter could have been great if not for the ccrazy amount of exposition.
Have Komatsu be ready for the trip with giant bag, Toriko fish the shell and they go to adventures in spaces where they see crazy stuff and some light version of the god slipping an ingredient of the farthest land into the vast universe from time to time.
If the previous chapter embrace the first part of the manga, this one embrace the second.

On the other hand, we didn't have Oda saying goodbye to Bleach in any meaningful way and I'd say Oda's respect > rest of shonen Jump authors together 
not very interesting. The previous chapter obviously had a stronger emotional grip. And that whole stuff about the 8 kings retiring from their position as if they were working a deskjob I kind of dislike as well. They are still alive and thousands of times stronger than all other animals in the Torikoverse. And it's not like they will be doing a whole lot of different stuff anyway. I don't know, that whole stuff about them stepping down feels dumb.
Oh well, it's an ending at the very least. For its flaws, Toriko had more ups than downs. I just can't put my finger on when Shima should have gone in a different direction to make the series better.
That they were defeated means that they aren't the apex predator of that zone, the title isn't about a species but an individual that can accomplish dominance , once beaten their dominance has to be reestablished.
