Toriko III: It's Over!!
-
This series is the worst.
-
unbelievable. this is just bad. its sad and disappointing. r.i.p. toriko you will be missed.
-
That was a goddamn fast forward.
We all know since the beggining that we weren't gonna see those areas, at least we can get some nice flashback about NEO. Yuda's one (I think that was the last one we saw) was short but pretty good.
-
@TLC:This series is the worst.
I wouldn't go that far. Its not like it has been like this since chapter 1.
-
Can't we please get some flashbacks?! ~_~
-
Jesus piss, haha, what even just happened. And we thought skipping Area 6 was bad.
Literally Toriko:
-
I will miss the adventuring, but than again, one other part I love about Toriko is the endless and crazy action. If we go to the end with fully powered Heavenly Kings and Jirou/Setsuno/Neo/0-Biotope/Teppei etc. etc. all fighting, I will enjoy that for what it is. The end-game fighting should be entertaining.
-
-

Even with the problems it's nothing down right terrible. Really it's just mediocre to bad depending on the situation. The main problem is with all this rush there is little build-up and time for us to care what is going on. Add on the fact we missed a significant chunk of the Gourmet World which was hyped up during the first half, it adds disappointment. The problem with things like this series is when it starts off good and gets you hooked, things like this hit you more because you expect better and have an attachment. As for stuff like Fairy Tail, sure it's bad, but it's hard to get invested in saying how bad it is when it never really hooked you in he first place.
-
I wonder if things would be better if the sales would go to 500k per volume.
-
I would like to see Mitsutoshi's manuscripts of he had originally planned. I'm sure now the ANOTHER arc was bound to be actually the longest so far.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I wonder if things would be better if the sales would go to 500k per volume.
Naturally they would. The magazine is clearly pressuring the author to wrap everything up, this is a safe bet now.
-
Well at least now we know on were to vote on the worst 2016 toriko moment.:ninja:
-
Still willing to bet 5-10 chapters from now we'll enter an arc story such that things come to a slow pace again though. Just wait.
-
The year is Young. We could skip the final battle. Or neo's mom could appear and slap him into being good.
-

NEO will be vanquished within 15 chapters, mark my words.

What prompted you to change your mind?

Is this supposed to be sarcasm?
-
The chapter was obviously really awful, but I can't bring myself to blame the mangaka for it. There is no way Shima intended to skip so much content.
-
I didn't pay attention on the sales talk, what volume did it plummeted? And what happened in it?
-

This chapter. I had a reason to doubt it when the rest of Area 6 was fleshed out through flashback. But now we have just skipped 3 areas in a row with no visible hints everything is goung to be stressed out in the following chapters. I dare you to prove me wrong.
-

just saying that patterns dictate that Shima doesn't just speed through things and doesn't slow down afterwards, otherwise, we'd already be over with the series. He rushes through certain parts on the plot and then dedicate the next few chapters solely on one aspect of the story. It's aperiodic when it occurs and the magnitude of the speeding up and slowing down varies, but the behavior has been there for years.
-
Wow…That was really bad writing. What irked me the most was how Sunny got through aging many times faster. Mitsutoshi couldn't come up with a passable excuse so he bullshitted and skipped through it comepletely. You know that's the case since he tends to overexplain everything.
-

So in other words, you are implying this modus operandi is nothing new, ok.
But now I'm conflicted, is this supposed to be good, bad, both… ?
-
With the way things are going, Toriko full course will be revealed in the epilogue after more offpaneling/timeskip(after Neo gets killed).
I hope neither Jirou/Nitros and Midora/Joa arent completely offpaneled…

Why would I do that? I've been saying that Shima is being rushed since the AIR arc. I found it peculiar and worrisome how he suddenly had such a laser focus on only the ingredients of Acacia's Full Course.
-
This chapter was awful….
-
For some reason now I'm picturing Toriko ending like this: Neo is completely revived and devours the Earth. Thanks to the planning ahead Mansam and co. did, all the humas are saved and they also manage to secure a large number of especies inside some colossal spaceship sorta ala Noa arc. The 8 Kings also help out and Moon is revealed to be able to store an unlimited number of living beings. Jiji takes that chance to reveal the Whale King has the power to create the Big Bang. End of Toriko, will continue in another magazine with a new title.
-
Let's just skip Coco's entire goal eh? Bloody hell.
-
-
Those were definitely after sex stares from the 3 combos.
-
Guess Shigematsu's sudden death can also be associated to that rush.
-
Jokes aside,it's extremely painful to see such a talented series in which we had invested so much time and thought, vanishing in such a shocking way…

And the worst part is that the author isn't to blame for this. The main culprit is Toei and their godawful adaptation that took many people aback when it ended.
-
Just look at all those motherfuckers.
[hide][/hide]
I don't think even Kubo or Kishi would introduce those cool-looking fellas and not deliver the proper hype, much less Shima. -
Honestly I don't know how I feel about this. Last chapter we get a reveal about Toriko having 3 Gourmet Demons, out of which only 1 is interested in this worlds menu. What's the point in subtly developing a character when you're rushing the story this much in the next chapter? It's beyond comprehension.
-

[h=1][/h][h=1]Yes,i wholeheartedly agree. There's no way an author would choose to handle his story in such an absurd way,if not from outside pressure.Especially a talented story teller like Shimabukuro.[/h]
-
It feels like Shima got tired people ragging on toriko'a faults and decided to show people it want his doing. No author would do this to their work by choice.
-
I'm super pissed that my Sunnybear dream team got skipped…Apparently there was bonding. Hell even Zebra...ZEBRA thanked Brunch...HE THANKED HIM! What the fuck?! Why skip over important character interactions like this? Absolutely disappointed in every way possible.
-

Coco and Tylan, for sure. Really want to see what's going on there.

I knoowwww. Zebra thanking Brunch was super left field and it's a damn shame we'll probably never get to see how their bromanc– I mean friendship developed.
I'm also super bummed that Chiyo, Chinchin and Brunch have all been relegated to delivery duty and seemingly won't be involved in the capture and preparation of GOD and CENTER.

We knew that long before the precious one.
-
Also Brunch returning to Bishokukai…there's noone left there anymore.
-

The anime really wasn't that bad minus the censorship. Only the ending was bad. Toriko was never that popular to begin with. Toei & shueisha tried their hardest to make Toriko the next big thing, but it never clicked with most people. Toriko was doing poorly which is why Toei tried to finish it as fast as possible with as little effort as possible.
-
At least it isn't getting the 'Now let's go capture GOD and fight NEO!! -> Look forward to Shimabukuro-sensei's next work :)' treatment.
They are letting him finish his manga properly, so it could be worse. -

They are letting him finish his manga properly, so it could be worse.Nothing says "properly" like skipping over 3/8ths of Gourmet World in one fell swoop.
-
I just want Shima to announce that it really is Jump that's telling him to rush. Maybe a comment from him in a volume or something… anything
-
Also Brunch returning to Bishokukai…there's noone left there anymore.
Grinpatch, Yuu, Barrygamon, Jelly Boy, Cedre, Limon, Bogie Wood etc.
-
I will never get over how everything seemed to be looking up at the start of Area 6, and then it all went to shit in like, 5 chapters. It kinda reminds me of HxH but instead of totally abandoning the series, Shima is just kind of half assing his way through.
-

toriko's quality plummeted way before than the toei anime could do any damage
if anything it sure made things even worse…but the author stopped making any kind of effort to make a somewhat coherent story a whole time ago. -
Toriko was a series i still enjoyed and now it´s rushed like this to it´s end?
Sad news, some series i follow just out of a bad habit to it´s end, hoped here it wouldn´t be the case^^ -
It's sad to see an artist forced to screw up his creation like this. If only he could move the series to another publication.

The unfortunate part about it is that these authors sign their rights away the moment they sign on the dotted line with Shueisha. They don't actually own the story they are telling.
