Throughout this month, we will be testing new features (like search) so you may experience some hiccups from time to time. We'll try to not be too disruptive...

@Daz:
Pulling a Sodom and Gommorah "Ah screw it, collective punishment, FUCK EVERYONE, CLEAN SLATE BITCHES", is a shit move in general.
I'm not really trying to defend the guy or say he's in the right, but what he did was basically shit on a shit pile.
@Daz:
The scenario with people losing their fingers to mug a little girl arises explicitly because of what Midora did.
So? They were still shitheads that mugged a kid. That's who they were at their core and trying to blame others for their decision to hurt others for personal gain is absurd. It doesn't matter if they would be not evil in a perfect world were all their desires are met. Their mettle was tested and they were found wanting.
To be fair Midora did say that he became cynical and apathetic after Frohze's death, and while Ichiryuu meant everyone in the world as "family", Midora meant just the Jirou, Ichiryuu, him and especially Frohze, and since Fronze wasn't around anymore, family had no meaning to him. I think he wanted to eat the full course to satisfy his hunger, but in reality, nothing ever could do that anymore. I think when he fought with Ichiryuu, it was like a talk between 2 young brothers: "Frohze is dead, move on Midora" - "No, you don't know and I beat you now" and when he did, and Pair killed Ichiryuu he was like "God dammit all!" and cue the meteor spice.

Midora did the meteor spice before Pair killed Ichiryuu however.
@Daz:
Wow, Midora out-haxxed Joras incomprehensible haxx!!! Amazing!!
Seriously, this would be a lot more satisfying if the techniques weren't so abstract and broken. Between Gourmet Luck and Minority World, Midora can basically manipulate reality freely with naught but a blind stare.
"An interplanetary beam is fired at Midoras forehead at point blank range! OMG, how does he get out of this?"
"Gourmet Luck."
"Well, okay, but how exactly did that manifest -"
"Gourmet luck makes him not be affected"
"But we clearly see the shot go into space, so did it go through him, or did he dodge, or -"
"Gourmet Luck."Screw that.
Tunnel effect. Gourmet Luck is just abusing quantum mechanics (this is what I tell myself to make sense of this manga)

Isn't that Minority World, though?
Asspull or whatever, that was at least "explained". Food Luck is really (and even explicitly stated) "just because" - or, how I like to see it, "it was Aizen all along".
Luckily, it seems now that it uses up mana pretty fast, so there's a (lame) limit.
I wish food luck, being able to conserve calories and minority world never happened. I miss the days of expending 70k calories with an attack and having to eat the nearest animal to replenish lol.

That's only in Joie the Abuser's case. You don't know what Komatsu-sama can do with Luck.
The chapter is out at batoto

This was kind of anticlimatic for me.
Plus LOL @ that logic of Capture Levels. So my One Punch Man Baldy Acacia was 8000, huh? Nice to know. I have to see Shiny Bald Midora so bad!
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
I'm not buying Starjun's death because of Food Luck and Minority World.
And the counter to the Minority World seemed so lame. Did Midora use that on Ichiryuu? Use hungry space everywhere other than Ichiryu so his attack would fall on him? Gonna read that one.
I think Midora is alive and well. Still I don't know how Star could survive. Anyway, there we go, Toriko magically overcome death dozens times only in this chapter. How could he be that resilient? And Midora too has yet to eat GOD.
"Neocia" CL is 30k…
One of those pages was literally:
_"I hit you!"
"Nuh-uh! I saw it coming!"
"Uh-huh! I saw you seeing it coming and still hit you!"
"Nuh-uh!"
"Uh-huh!"_
I like the part of Midora calling bullshit on the power levels, though.
I like the part of Midora calling bullshit on the power levels, though.
I like that too. In the end, Midora'll be remembered as the wisest guy in the world.
A little story on Minority World. I feel like this technique got nerfed. But it could be Midora not truly mastering it:
! "Now finally, your body isn't listening to what you tell it…"
! "The rocks that make up the ground, the atmos that try to stay hard and adhere to one place, are being ruled by atoms that are trying to push away."
! "Midora, the minority atoms in you are already controlling your body. Your orders are being sent to a body that will not listen."
! 'But the true terror of MINORITY WORLD is: "Minority World" does not only affect conscious movements. The effects of the minority reaches to all organs that make the body function. Your longs stop absorbing oxygen, your liver stops synthesizing glycogen. The heart muscles stop and thus it stops pumping. Blood starts to flow in retrograde and the blood vessels and the heart will eventually break down.'
! "The information transfer through nerves is halting. All of the systems that maintain life will progress the other way towards death."
! Then Midora counters this by going towards death itself so the minority inside him becomes the living part.
! Midora: You're controlling the minority effects inside your body. I've imitated that... It was quite a task, though.
! Ichi: Is that right? Now that you mention it, you've been good at imitating since way back in the old days. The minority effects extende to every physiological phenomenon inside the body. And stopping the beating of the heart is one thing you can't control.
! This means Midora hurt his own heart. So Ichi rescines the Minority World. And expects it's effect to take place. Midora's regeneration helps here I guess.
! Then Midora activates Hungry Space which eats everything in that space with no atom left. So no minority and majorities.
! After a little talk flash back comes. Then the fight after that Midora can hit Ichi because Midora can suppress the minorities inside his body. He already can use the technique.

No snacks before dead time!
So, if Toriko is saying he wanted others to eat God before him, does that imply the other Four Kings have been eating it in their absence are going to show up next chapter to wipe the floor with Acacia? Anything is possible at this rate.
I just don't get why we're getting a Midora/Star/Toriko team effort here at the end, and not, you know, a goddamn Toriko/Sunny/Coco/Zebra effort.
That is to say, I do get it, but I absolutely abhor Starjuns bland-ass "redeemable attractive KEWL badguy" appeal, and his sudden fraternal link to Toriko. Its like if One Pieces' finale was Rayleigh, Law and Luffy teaming up while the Straw Hat crew lie in a ditch somewhere.

Because they are 'little flies' as Acacia put it. Shima dismissed them!?!?
Surely a redeeming will come! I mean, come on.

Because the other 4 kings have to eat God first, obvisouly. They're still half dead, their time will come eventually together with Toriko.
I'm really sad Joie survived though. A useless character with no context. I'd wish Shima would write a new one if space journey happens. But no, I guess.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
On that capture level logic... How is it going to be calculation for Toriko then? Toriko + R + B + W? -.- I mean this time is the most a transformation would be plausible.
@Myu:

Well, it seems to me Acacia applied Damage Knockin' on Joa, so when that knocking will be released (and it will be), Joa will die.
Please please please die Starjun I hate your boring ass. Also wtf eating Food Luck a thing now? I hate Food Luck so bad it's just whatever the author wants it to be.
The last few chapters have really shown how this fast pace and skipping of half the gourmet world really hurts this series. There is little characterization for anyone involved that the emotional moments don't work. It would be fine with Starjun being redeemed but we went from him being an antagonist to being an ally with nothing to bridge it. So much has been happening so fast that it's hard to latch on to any plot point. Last but not least is that Acacia has grown so fast that it's impossible for me to really care about how powerful he is. Going from tough but not the strongest to God like in a few chapters with no chance to appreciate the pecking order has me not caring. People make fun of Freiza and all the transformations, but there was time to appreciate each one and give some sense of scale.
It's just frustrating that we skipped all the excitement of the exploring, a huge part of the series at one point, to just fighting that while visually good, there is nothing to make me invested in the actual fight.
Oh wow Joie managed to cheat death and Toriko's back on the ropes and Starjun's seemingly sacrificed his….I honestly don't care.
There's struggling and then there's moving the goalposts because dumbass reasons. Didn't someone just sacrifice their life for Toriko not a few chapters ago. Feels like we just went in a complete circle. But nope, no progress here, just gonna keep upping Acadia's power to even more ridiculous degrees to the point it's becoming boring. Least when Aizen did it, it was somewhat entertaining. But were just circling the drain now. Move on already!
Behold the strongest creature in existence!The most terrifying of all creature!The final villain and the face of despair!
!
Remind me of the sentient heads from the other area.Seriously though acaneo looks so much worse than pretty much every neo version.
I don't get why last chapter had this relatively slow paced development of Midora and his feelings towards Joie (which only works if you completely forget what a dick Midora is) just for this chapter to be so rushed and sloppy and half-assed. Even the visuals weren't up to par with only a few good moments like Giant Palm and Toriko slicing off the top of the Earth.
Also Acacia just sucks as a villain.
"Rawr, there are no snacks in your future!"
Lame.
@TLC:

Froese. Joie is the thing literally self-inserting itself into Froese's dead body to abuse the food luck concept.

He reminds of Ganishka from Berserk:
I guess Toriko will end around chapter 400.
Sometimes, I can't say who is Midora or Starjun in this chapter unless Acacia or Toriko says who is who.

Seriously though Jirou got one shotted his head off before Acacia even got to God. This kind of transition in power levels suck.
This is wrong, to me it looked like the blue nitro, the 8 kings, jirou and acacia had the ability to that if you took a hit without expecting it, well, you're gone.
That Earth slice from Toriko looked neat.
Was the transition between pages 19 and 20 really, really bad?
Was the transition between pages 19 and 20 really, really bad?
It probably took 0.1 seconds (as if that is still impressive by new standards) for Starjun to go there.
God! I really hate this 0.1 second thing in this manga.
It's just, the whole thing combined simply doesn't work. Star skipped half chapter only to teleport in front of Toriko to get eaten..and the editor's line is just soooo cheesy. And Star doesn't even look bothered. And he appeared in a "eat me!" position instead of, I don't know, try to attack Neocia? The whole scene is jarring.
And, yeah, even the fighting wasn't up to par.
That said, I wouldn't worry about the other Kings, they'll re-appear powered up, and there'll be a team up. Shima DOES deserve some credit, me thinks.
Would the Sandorikos work against Neocacia 30.000?
You know what doesn't work? Toriko's power ups. They simply don't make any sense, at all! Comparing Toriko to Midora is just ridiculous.
@Daz:
I just don't get why we're getting a Midora/Star/Toriko team effort here at the end, and not, you know, a goddamn Toriko/Sunny/Coco/Zebra effort.
Well, they've gotta get in some last-minute father-son bonding time somehow. :ninja:
This manga is a mess. But I had to laugh at Starjun just suddenly being in the way. Which seems like it shouldn't have worked anyways with the way Acacia can eat. One body shouldn't matter. Toriko should have been taken out too.

Of course main character plot-armor can prove to be more cumbersome than a whole supernova. Tsk, tsk, this is first grade shonen note-taking.

Yes of course. My mistake lol.
On a side note. I wish there was food bad luck. Like always getting the ear wax flavored jellybean. Or tripping into a pile of old potato salad.

Wouldn't that kind of just be Gourmet Luck infused with Minority World effects?
…Great, now I'm actually interested in seeing Midora fuse those two techniques just to take advantage of how much of a mess these abstractly conceptual powers already are on their own.
Gourmet Luck wasn´t so lucky chosen for this manga in hindsight^^
Does the power level even matter at this point? I'm really with Midora on that.
Damn that Starjun manage to make a sacrifice the must mundane thing ever.
I expect Midora to be the one Toriko was talking about.
The kings are still the most awesome thing after Jirou.
Maybe Kings will eat bits of God ? Can they ?
Oh well we have 2 baddies to beat(maybe one or two Nitros) and so many good guys alive..

Does any power level matter to Midora? I mean Hungry Space, Luck and Minority world should technically shit on any and everything.
@Myu:
God! I really hate this 0.1 second thing in this manga.
Agreed. It's basically an excuse for the author to forgo buildup or setup and say "Then suddenly, something else happened!"
Also this overwhelming need of his to explain in detail every singular process that goes into an action in an attempt to make it look impressive. People can't just punch each other, they have to have a 1000 move chess match in a fraction of a second first.

I was thinking the same…
