All i want is a great arc, an interesting one, long or short, i don't have any problem with the length of this one as far as we have information, and we can get many out of Zou so i'm thinking this one will be long too.
In the end only Oda knows, but i'm loving it already.

Fishman Island was hella hyped for years and it was hardly a long arc in comparison to the others. An arc doesn´t need to be super long to cover everything we expect it to, you know Oda rarely leaves things unresolved, they are always addressed on coverstories, or even years later in another arc.

Well, Bepo could obviously be the reason why Law decided to meet at Zou…since it's supposedly an hostile island, maybe they got access because Bepo is one of them. But at the same time, I wonder if they are such an isolated tribe why there are so many "of them" around the world?
I feel like Bepo isn't a minkman. But literally a bear that can talk. Otherwise it would kinda weird to specifically mention female bears.

Pretty sure minkmen are just humanoid looking minks and that girl is one of them. Her appearance is already very different from other talking animals who have normal animal heads. The head from that girl looks more like a human-animal hybrid.
But since this is Oda and we already had Okama island, I wouldn't really be surprised if Zou was a furry island, and he didn't call them fur-men just so it's not obvious from the start. Either way, minkmen would be a weird choice for a name, since there are like 3 kinds of minks. In comparison, there are over 33.000 different fish.

That's just off the top of my head.
In contrast, Zou was only mentioned just before Punk Hazard, and while it has some interesting connotations, has been built up nowhere near as much as Wano.
Dressrosa was first mentioned in Punk Hazard as well and it took a 100 chapters.

You really think Oda would base an entire race over a particularly obscure animal?
And have you taken a look at Bepo and Pekoms' bodies? Those aren't full animal bodies there (and I won't even start with Hawkins' cat). The girl's head looks as much as half-animal, half-human as them, but with tertiary characteristics to tell us she's a girl (her head still has a snout and animal ears. The only difference is having human-like hair).
And hey, let's not forget how most Mermen looked in relation to most Mermaids. I wouldn't be surprised if Oda's male minkmen were essentially bipedal animals while minkwomen looked like cute human women with fur.

Well they are just another species like anything else. Of all the characters we've seen in the story we may have only seen 3 of them tops. That is pretty rare in a story of this magnitude. Just because their tribe is generally considered to have no contact with humans doesn't mean much when we know they have been kidnapped and sold into slavery before. Bepo or Pekoms could have easily been in a Jean Beart or Hancock situation until they were freed from outside sources.

The twin dome definitely points against an African one but the tusks are pretty large which are specific to African elephants. The ears don't seem to be much visible to judge yet though. It's too much in the shadows to estimate the size

It is completely understandable that it won't be amazing to you because you have embraced the notion that the guy from Loguetown was a half-merman for quite some time. For me it was very fresh. I truly felt amazement at that, and I enjoyed it very much.
Regarding Dellinger, I thought he was a complete fishman. Sometimes I read the chapter hastily on the phone while I am travelling somewhere , and I skip some stuff, hahaha
The chapter when Dellinger was said to be half-merman(768), I think I focused more on situation involving the fighters than on the epithet that Viola used to describe each and every one of them. That was probably the cause of this carelessness.

No, I actually misread your "Zou" as Dressrosa for some reason.
There is no map of Zou. The only map we saw drawn by Bepo was of Dressrosa/Green Bit.

Oars's line may be a race now(of like 2 now lol) but I think it's heavily implied that Oars was the way he was because government experiments had been conducted on him long before he became the wild and free Continent Puller. Doesn't change that Kaido could have come from people like Oars who are the result of experiments and just passed down those altered genes.

Interesting chapter, we get more insight on how the plot may play out later.
Looking forward to this arc. I think it's going to be like Thriller Bark and Fishmen Island, not a saga built up of multiple arcs. The elephant being 1000 years old hints there may be some deep history to be uncovered in this arc. No doubt Luffy will somehow strike a conversation with the elephant. I think the mystery of the whereabouts of the remaining Straw Hats & Momonosuke & what's his name adds a new element to One Piece we never had before. On Thriller Bark the crew were separated but as readers we knew what was going on with each group. Right now we're still not sure what's going on with Sanji, Nami & co. I expect Jack and Weeble to join this arc. For a second I thought Uranus may be linked to the arc when it showed the island was among the clouds, but I'm banking on that ancient weapon to be in outer space near Enel. Maybe there's a poneglyph on Zou, and maybe the elephant has a name and once had a relationship with an important figure from the past (Joy Boy?). Oda is the master at mixing up plotlines… I just hope we get more interesting villains (Fishmen Pirates were lame and Donflamingo's crew were a disappointment for someone like Donflamingo).
I wonder if Blackbeard will attack Dragon now. That'll make it a brother and a father of Luffy if he somehow manages to take Dragon. Can't see how though unless Blackbeard has gotten a huge powerup.
Great to see Buggy linked with the underground. Luffy's done him a favour, now Buggy's gonna eat up the market and stumble his way across One Piece.
