Is it the uncensored version (aka the theather version)? because the hd version that can be found online currently (the one with the chinese subs) is censored as hell compared to the version seen in theaters. People who haven't been watching either the theater release or the cam version won't notice the censor but those who have seen them will quickly realize that something is off.

Really? What did they censor for the Chinese audience?

Sexy scenes
! Left: Chinese Version.
Right: Blu-ray Version.
-
Most of the sexy scenes are cut off , lol even the random background pole dancer in the VIP room disappeared. I must rewatch the cam version to check all the differences.

So, was the HD Chinese version sourced from a Chinese Blu-ray?

Seems to be from the few seconds I saw from it (because I'm seeing it dubbed in theaters next week), there weren't any Chinese subs so
-
Wouldn't Brook's entire existence be censored out for China?
Anyway, are you guys saying all the rips out there now are this censored Chinese version?

I think the Japanese BD is on nyaa, but it isn't specified.
Does anyone know when English subs will be out? I saw that Russian subs released -
looooool Tesoro got that fine ass
An unsubbed Japanese version can be found here by the way.
-
Any good english subs out for this film yet? Got the raw version, but don't really want to ruin the experience by watching it japanese, and not understanding anything.

The one set of subs I saw were so bad that I literally preferred watching it raw @__@ haha.

New clip of the English dub that features more of the dubbed "Gold and Jive" insert song.

I saw that one, and…. boy was that translation absolute garbage.

I loved the hell out of this movie. Sure, anyone can find flaws and I could name a few like them trying to cram too many cameos for the hell of it (though I always like such cameos so I won't complain too much). The one complaint I have is that the scene with Doflamingo teased in the original trailer was literally a half second flash and he didn't have a speaking role. But oh well, that's not enough to dock points. I think Sabo's fight against Lucci could have been expanded upon briefly, but maybe Oda doesn't want to spoil any of Lucci's new moves. Spandam's entire scene attacking Luffy was super random but it's always nice to see him get his face smashed in.
So was Tesoro a good villain? Well he certainly wasn't a bad villain in my eyes. Was he better than Zephyr or Shiki? Well to be honest I feel the three were all good in their own right. He was also not a pirate or a marine but just a guy using both to profit off of. It's nice having different roles as the antagonists once in a while.
Overall I thought the movie was fun and some of the reveals actually worked well because they were basically a cliche reveal wrapped inside another cliche reveal making it hard to tell what was going to actually happen.

I started downloading the 10GB one on there last night. Just checked and it is indeed the Japanese one. Now to find some subs. I'm really surprised there aren't some speedsubs out yet at least.
-
I really hope they will use some of the soundtracks of the movie in the anime , especially the one that plays during the introduction of dice during the vip gamble , this song simply haunts me.
-
Looks like Vic got his One Piece role.
-
Well just started watching it unsubbed and I'm not very impressed so far. The animation is better than a normal episode (in terms of frame count) but the actual drawings making up the animations are pretty poor for a movie, sometimes outrageously bad. Bear in mind this is a BD rip. Right-click on the image and select "View Image" to see how bad it really is.

I really doubt it, given that much of the music is not only of a different style than the rest of the show's tracks, but by a different composer as well.
-
@Crossword
Too bad then because those tracks are incredible. -

Anime News Network's review of Film Gold is up.
Also, confirmation that Vic Mignogna is voicing Sabo, in case you didn't believe me.

I worked my tail off on a speed sub for the fans over the last day or so. I don't think I can post any links here so just search your usual methods and you should likely come across it soon enough as it spreads. It's under my other alias, GoldenUmi and is simply called One Piece Film Gold Speed Sub.
Though not perfect I'd say my subs are about 95% accurate with a few issues with terms I don't know how to translate such as the turtles in Gran Tesoro or Tesoro's attacks. Upon my second viewing I don't think everyone is going to love this movie but I found it really enjoyable as a huge fan of the series. I really wish they had extra scenes on the blu-ray to expand upon Tesoro's past. Apparently Oda released information about Tesoro's crew fighting on terms with the Donquixote Pirates and Tesoro's scheme to kill Doflamingo which is HUGE and speaks volumes for Tesoro's strength. I guess the movie was already 2 hours but they could have had like 2 minutes more cramming this information and taken out some drawn out stuff in the middle and I would have been fine with it.
-
Oh cool, thanks. Didn't want to violate any rules so I was being cautious. This will help more people see it.
-
It's also on GoGoAnime
I don't know about the censorship tho

Thanks for doing that. I'll be watching it with your subs in a short while.

Regarding Tesoro's attack it was
! L'ira Di Dio
The turtles are Turtle-Royce with the car being the reference. Not sure if you have any attack or translation questions. I heard many queries about
! Carina's letter, it said
! "GIRL'S NEED WISDOM TO SURVIVE" -
Finally saw the film, I can see Tesero as a movie counterpart to Doflamingo;
Both are supposedly chessmaster type villains
Both have Awakened Devil Fruits
Both have good press amongst the general populous
Both live a luxurious lifestyle
Both apparently care about their closest allies only and view the rest of their underlings as property
Both are sadistic
Both are 'puppeteers' with Tesero using his power to make a giant gold manaquinn of himself, and Doflamingo's Black Knight.
Probably going to be an unpopular opinion, but I really feel Tesero did the role better. Honestly felt like a far more concise Dressrosa to me albeit missing the fleet captains and gaining Nami, Sanji, Brook and Chopper back instead.Baccarat's fights were very entertaining if a bit Looney Tunes(so I naturally loved the ridiculousness), and Tesero Vs. Luffy was pretty good. I like that Robin was vital to the defeat of someone for once. Interesting.
Bad stuff; Can't say Carina did much for me as a character, nor the kids nor Max(why is Franky, the man with the steel body, the only one not trying to stop the spinning blade?).
Wasn't sure why we had so many costume changes; the hell was the point in Team B's outfits? Luffy and Franky had costumes that looked like they were for sneaking and meanwhile Chopper is dressed as a toy soldier for some reason(it'd make sense in Dressrosa) whilst Usopp is dressed as a Raggedy Ann style doll.Overall though I still think this was probably my favourite One Piece film to date and I'm sure it's one I'll rewatch a fair bit.

! "GIRL'S NEED WISDOM TO SURVIVE"Okay so it seems his attack themes are Italian. Despite being half Italian I know next to no Italian at all outside of Dio (God). He had a few other attacks as well if you want to take a stab at them.
Good catch on the "Turtle-Royce" reference. That went entirely over my head since I don't know much about car racing.
I unfortunately can't read kanji which is why I couldn't make out all of the letter despite some of it being in hiragana. I like that though. I wish I had been able to read that. I'm assuming the letter was the same in both the flashback and at the end?

I wouldn't say I like Tesoro more than Doflamingo. Though I think the two are a good counterbalance to each other and I'd have been interested in getting some more scenes with them. I always liked that in One Piece, like seeing Doffy and Crocodile go at it in Marineford. I think Doflamingo as a fighter is more skilled than Tesoro mainly because Tesoro doesn't fight close range at all and relies heavily on his abilities. Also Tesoro's powers can only be utilized to their fullest by forcing people to come into HIS territory where he sprinkles his gold dust on them. I'm also not sure if he can manifest gold out of thin air himself or if he can only manipulate gold he touches as he said in the movie. I don't think we saw him manifest gold once by himself. Doffy can materialize strings which means the range of his powers is far greater.
That being said, both men are equally shrewd and charismatic. Also I can believe he fought evenly with Doflamingo mainly because his ability to cover himself in gold would cancel out Doffy's strings. But while I like Doflamingo more I think I'd say Tesoro's henchmen are a bit less cringy than Doffy's. I didn't see many people commenting on how insanely ridiculous the Lucky Lucky Fruit is.

I thought the seawater splashes washed away all the gold originally, and then he still summoned some after all that glittered had been washed off for the real fight with Luffy? Maybe I'm interpretating it wrong but I thought that was his Awakening. Could admittedly be from the gold rings he constantly wears as we saw him using one to ensnare the hapless drunk earlier.

Actually you might be right there about the awakening. I didn't think about that. I was pretty sure he used the giant golden tower but there could have been some awakening powers involved there considering the scale.

Feels bad they said there might me a UK film release of One Piece film gold but there's been radio silence for like 6 months now. I wish they'd at least say if it's not happening

Sadly this seems to be a thing happening far too much with Funimation releases in the UK. Anime Limited announced a bunch of stuff for us which has been consistently pushed back with no real reason given.
From what I know Gold IS coming, but in March/April time and only if Ghost in the Shell and Yugioh do what Manga UK hope they will.

Just caught the movie.
It was "eh" Not bad by any means, just not amazing.
Really by the numbers One Piece movie stuff. Great visuals, annoying kid characters, random female girl who has a connection to Nami (Seriously, why is it always fucking Nami in the movies), blandish villains, cameos by canon characters and enough cleavage and bikini tops that Hiro Mashima is like "tone it down."
Strong World and Z are far better in my view, but this is enjoyable, something to pop in and watch with friends, but nothing amazing.
-
Just finished watching film gold seriously anyone who doesn't think this the greatest one piece movie of them all must be high on crack, it's huge huge jump from all the other movies before it, maninly due to the super jam tight script chuck full of surprise and emotions.
+jam packed exciting script that doesn't miss a beat, best script in one piece movie.
- best villain a one piece movie (better then Zed but not by much, draw with burdy world)
+Greatest side side/villan crew members am so happy to see this issue fixed i was disappointed in the last movies where the side character where a cake walk but not tessro crew.
+best action & fights in a one piece movie to date, the action felt completey refereshing & exciting in this movie and it didn't draw much inspiration from previouse manga arcs like the previouse movies.felt clever, fresh & exciting.
+cool easter eggs
+- musice was excellent but i wish kohei tanaka was involved, i can kind get why they went for a more western casino feel.
Felt like One peice X Oceans Eleven = Best one piece movie by far imo.
- best villain a one piece movie (better then Zed but not by much, draw with burdy world)
-
pfff, the definition for this movie is: Boriing…
! poor fights, Sanji is more useless than any other movie…
lame script, especially the forced Carina "plot twist" TWICE.
! I liked Tesoro but I wanted to see more of his flashback. -

-
There is an old saying which says, "if it isn't broke don't fix it". I loved the last 2 movies but film gold?, I'm sure that I won't remember it in a distant future.
-
Finished watching it. It's…alright, just okay. Feels very standard One Piece fare but has some pretty visuals. I admit I did like Carina, she makes an interesting foil to Nami and the whole idea of trust
! Even if she was using them in the end. Sweet of her to at least leave some gold rings in that letter though.
Tesoro is just meh to me though. His backstory was interesting and indeed sad, but as a character he's just a standard power hungry punk, essentially Doflamingo from the other side of the class totem but less spoiled. Compared to Z, who I sympathized deeply with and understood his actions in the present day. Tesoro felt bland because all he really is just greed incarnate.
! Was nice seeing Rob Lucci again even if his role was a glorified cameo with Sabo. Nice to see that he chilled out a bit too. Spandam…eh. Wasn't really needed, but didn't mind that he got decked again though. Considering Luffy never met him face to face (which would explain why he wouldn't really remember him. The only time they spoke was at the Tower of Justice) it was cathartic to see him get his overdue lick in for that Enies Lobby fiasco
Otherwise, the story is still enjoyable. Loved the setting and the brief romp around the Casinos at the start of the movie. The heist attempt which made me chuckle (though seriously Luffy…c'mon). And the music was very well done, especially in the climax.
Again, it's just okay. Doesn't top Z in my ranks as the best One Piece movie, but better then Strong World at least.

Man that's so tedious. At least there's still a chance of it coming, thanks!

Film Gold was better from what I was expecting, I'll just briefly point out some things:
-I enjoyed all the animation apart for Shida's Straw Hat introduction. Exactly the same as all his other shots, weightless and an eye sore to watch.
-Straw Hat's gambling all the money they won (even though that had nothing to compensate for losing) was just plain DUMB.
-The 3D architecture setting/building models are the best the series has seen to date.
-Refreshing to have a new composer solely for this movie. Set the tone, matched the specific themes.
-Thought those kids were supposed to be Tontattas at first glance, similar designs, different scale.
-Throwing in CP0 and Sabo etc was just about right amount, too much and it would throw off viewers not as familiar with the entire story, just enough for fan service.
-The continuation of Nami and Carina's flashback dragged on a little too much, Tesoro's extended backstory would have been appreciated more.
-Luffy's fight scene at the end was perfect with great music to match.I thought this film was more enjoyable than Strong World and on par with Film Z.
-
I'm watching it on Tuesday.
-
So the movie started great with amazing animation and right after the plot twists the animation quality takes a nose dive and it feels like I'm watching a really good anime episode instead which was really disappointing considering that Strong World and Z had a very consistent animation quality.
Also…
! That scene where Raise Max and all the other guys throw themselves to the seastone fan to stop it made absolutely no sense even for One Piece standards IMO. Really bothered me.
! The logic of beating Baccarat is there but the way it was handled was pretty underwhelming. Magical bag with a slotmachine in it was a bit too unbelievable for me.
! Tesoro's backstory looked very interesting and they should've given more focus to it than just give us a 20 second flashback.Everything else was great. Definitely one of the most entertaining One Piece movies out there. Really fun to watch.
-
If anyone goes see it, let us know how full (or not full lol) the theater is. Lol…. I hope there's a at least some type of attendance.
-
Alright so back from this movie. Decided to treat myself getting some Chicken Tenders and Beer for the show.
In terms of animation this movie mas full of spectacle with some very strong color choices and scene framing, at the same time towards the end it lacked the consistency of the previous films with some slightly more static looking animation.
I feel of the "One Piece Film" trilogy it is the weakest mainly because Strong World felt more like a grand adventure but a more personal catharsis for Nami's character. Film Z's Zephyr pretty much was the emotional core of that film. Here it felt like we were getting aspects of Movie 6, Skypiea and Dressrosa with a bit of Ocean's Eleven vibe to it. It was a fun high energy movie and definitely VERY One Piece but it didn't feel as "eventful" as the previous two films. In fact this movie gave off more of a grander Movie 4 feel. Overall fun, but very average compared to high quality we've been getting as of late.
-
Finally saw it. Film Gold is fun but it's also maybe my least favorite of the Film trilogy. Overall I'd put it at #5, behind Dead End Adventure and Baron Omatsuri as well.
Tesoro is far and away the least interesting of the Film villains with a backstory that feels very much tacked on instead of shaping his character. He's basically just an arrogant gloating villain with none of the personality or motivation that made Zephyr and Shiki so memorable. His fight, while the most visually stunning of the three climaxes, was also the most bog standard anime of them and frankly the most boring. The Gran Tesoro is very cool and certainly a better setting than the random islands of Film Z but stills doesn't match the bonkers creativity of Strong World. The shenanigans on the ship and the heist later were both my favorite parts.
While I loved the random cameos, the appearances of Spandam, Lucci, and Sabo were all basically just fanservice that did nothing for the movie. Contrast that to the big role Kuzan and Borsalino played in Film Z; even the minor inclusions of Garp and Sengoku served a narrative purpose and didn't distract from the story. That whole small subplot could be cut out to make the movie shorter, or extend more meaningful parts like the heist. Speaking of which, I loved the goofy visual and musical nods to classic movies like Mission Impossible and Ocean's Eleven. I think the movie would have benefited by making their plan more elaborate, explicitly establishing a purpose for those initial disguises, and of course clearly creating an opportunity for Franky to readjust the plumbing that's noticeable in hindsight.
Essentially the movie was fun but missed the mark on the attempted emotional cores, with an excellent setting, great gags, and mostly stellar animation despite a lackluster villain.

Saw it today.
Imo, it was just okay.

Huh? I mean i wouldn't say that Tesoro had depth like Z, but he sure as hell had more personality then whatever Shiki showed.
