Huh, Just realized that Nami hearing about Germa 66 is probably do to Bellemere (former marine) telling her about it.
Chapter 825: The WE Times' Comic Strip
-
-
Can anyone confirm what the Lola look-alike tells Gotti? The text posted in the spoilers' section doesn't match (傷一つでもつけてみな 頭目の首が飛んじまうってのがわかんないのかい), but I'm not sure this is what the original Japanese says
-
Really shouldn't be writing this cuz I gotta gooo,
Just wanted to say, great chapter! The crew antics were prolonged and some of the best I've seen in a long time in the manga. Even though it's based on starvation it's a nice reminder that the New World won't sacrifice good Straw Hat interaction for big league drama.
-

It would make sense of Bellemere exposed Nami and Nojiko to the comics, whether she thought they were real or not.
-
- The comic strip is interesting. Are we overanalyzing it? Was it just a way for Oda to tell us that the Germa 66 have been the stuff of fairytales and comic strips for a long time, and marines used it for their own propaganda? Or the heroes are really based on real marines that fought the Germa 66 for reals?
All I know is it's a really fun plot element, and I hope Oda shows us some strips of it like he did with the Norland storybook way back in Jaya.
It's got a interesting political angle on it as well, a creator of a comic depicting a comic meant to brainwash kids.
Oda can be oddly subversive when he wants to sometimes. As for what it says about Germa 66 I dunno. The exact nature of Germa is so unknown right now that it's hard to say what any of it might mean.
-
Well that's clearly the WG logo with another detail on it that was never seen before. I think it's not random and it means something. If the dots are the four Blue on the regular symbol i guess it would be another relevant location in the world. It's maybe an actual scene and not from the comic and it is an old symbol prior to the WG.
-

Like was said, it looks like seagull legs. The other one seems to have been cut off by cleaning or something.
The overall logo is a combination of the WG logo with the Marine seagull. So the kids reading it are not just thinking "Boy the military is so cool!" but also "Boy the government is so cool!". -
why is there a lola look alike? sisters? I wonder if she's related to lola by blood.
-
How strawhats know where Big mom's island is?
-
Wow, I like the Comic Strip propaganda bit. The end was also very entertaining. I still feel the Vinsmokes are bad asses.
-
I'm suprised by how much i'm enjoying Capone's gang.
Where were these guys back at Saobody? They give his crew much needed flavour.
-
@Gin:
How strawhats know where Big mom's island is?
I would hope Pekoms, who is traveling with them, would know where his own home base is
-

I have a feeling that comic strip has been around for ages, and has inspired many people to get into the marines. Sora, Warrior of the Sea seems to also be a shout out to the film Momotaro's Sea Eagles, A Japanese war movie that is loosely based on the tale of Momotaro.

Eternal Pose, Vivre Card, or whatever it is Minks seem to have which let them find Zou would be the most likely/obvious answers.

Sora for nakama!:ninja:
!
tbh this was a pretty good chapter and we learned a little more about the Germa 66 and have undeniable proof that BM and Lola are related! Plus, one of Sanji's brothers looks like Zoro and could possibly be why Sanji and Zoro never get along. I did notice that the chapter was kinda short, but I just learned that's because Oda's grandma just passed away and may she rest in peace.
-

Oda can be oddly subversive when he wants to sometimes.Yeah, someone mentioned Captain America, and I guess this goes in a similar way. . .though, if the WG is involved, one might guess this is a very fantasized tale of wathever exploits actually happened (IF they ever happened).
I don't know if Oda will ever show this comic strip, but it would be nice. He did put quite some detail into it (where it's published, the main hero trio, etc. . .), the groundwork is definitely there if he ever wants to bring it back.
-

Vivre card that Lola gave to Nami.
-
Vivre card that Lola gave to Nami.
She doesn't know the vivre card is the one of Big Mom so they are not using it.
-
All this Alice In Wonderland theme is getting to me, I love Big Mom and I'm more excited for this arc than for anything involving Kaido
-
The way Capone underlings call him 'Father' is as more of a mafia title than a symbol of parentage. I guess Lola sister is probably his wife.
-
Ha, love that cover story reveal of Nami's Weatheria make-over session.
Now it makes more sense for that story to be a fictional news strip comic than any actual legend. The whole "Sora, Warrior of the Sea" seems like the OP equivalent of Dick Tracy mixed with super sentai. Basically the sort of strip that was suppose to convey the message "crime doesn't pay" but tended to create fans of the more colorful villains. So naturally a guy like Vito would be attracted to Germa 66.
Though in this case perhaps the good/evil analogy isn't far from the truth. Won't know until we learn more about, but if it attracts guys like Vito
Now about the ship–it seems very clear Big Mom and her world is going to have a major Alice in Wonderland inspiration and aesthetic to it. Big mystery no doubt is how the hell all those inanimate objects have faces and talk. Seems this is a clue to Big Mom's DF power, where perhaps she DOES have some sort of "candy factory" fruit that can transform people and objects she's eaten into various candied objects and mindless slaves. Essentially someone with a near equal versatility in DF power as Wapol's munch-munch fruit. Could also be that it doesn't have to be candy, but that Big Mom has such a sweet tooth that she wouldn't have it any other way.
Now as far as Sanji, we can rest assured that he still stands by his convictions of not marrying into the Linlin family as a Vinsmoke. Apparently the image of loveliness can catch him off guard, but in his heart he is not seeking matrimony. No doubt he will be torn once he meets Purin face-to-face.
Now about the whole Lola lookalike. I'm still having difficulty believing that is Lola. Now it's possible she is playing dumb and trying not to drop any hints that she has met Sanji before, but it seems that she's been with the Bege crew for a fair amount of time to be bossing the crew around general awareness of the Vinsmokes. On that last note, had Lola been aware of the Vinsmokes, she would have recognized Sanji as part of the clan the moment she laid eyes on him in Thriller Bark. Now I expect Lola to come into the picture fairly soon since this is essentially going to be her arc in some respects, but that woman that grabbed Gotti's ear isn't her.
Now the whole second half is great fun. First, it's further proof that Nami will never, ever share her tangerines with anybody even if they are wasting away to skin an bones. Not even with herself. Luffy being poisoned is equally hilarious as he is actually at death's door. Though what is a bit strange is that we are getting allusions to Drum Island again as apparently not even Chopper can save Luffy from eating himself to death. Not sure if Germa 66 has what they're looking for...maybe time for a trip to the Black Drum Kingdom and their doctor mafia? (kidding!)
Now about Sanji's Vinsmoke family member on the boat. In a similar case with the Lola double, I'm wondering if all male Vinsmokes have the trademark eyebrow or if it will just be Sanji and this twin, essentially making it so that Sanji's eyebrows curl left and this guy's curl right.
-
It seems extremely likely that Lola is related to Big Mom, but this chapter in no way confirms it. Just a language thing that peeves me. Confirm means that something is literally confirmed, either by word of God or just outright said. We're at the point of strong inference and assumptions. We see a girl that looks like Lola on one of Big Mom's ship who is seemingly subservient to Capone and have assumed that she's Big Mom's daughter. It's a great assumption and probably right, but it's not confirmed.
The one question that keeps coming to my mind and is even more strong now, assuming that Sanji does have brothers, why go to the trouble of capturing Sanji if a hypothetical brother is already loyal to Germa 66? It would seem to make more sense for one of them to just get hitched to a Big Mom daughter, unless they're already married? This isn't a plothole yet, as the reason could relate to the Straw Hats or some other unknown situations, but as for now, it's something I'll be waiting to learn more about.
-
Looking at the characters from Sora's adventure, I think the brother that appears in the last panel is Ichiji.
Gotti looks sooooo weak. Usopp could probably beat him. It was pretty ridiculous to see this guy threatening Sanji.
-
Maybe Sanji's brothers are already married so the Vinsmoke family needed a extra son for Pudding.
-

Agree, it's technically unconfirmed and could turn out to be a red herring. The only confirmed daughter is Purin.

Can we have the one from KH2 instead ? I like him better.
-
If they waited for the strawhat ship to come, maybe Big Mum will make them official guest of the wedding.
-
This could segway into an interesting discussion about writing style, Overexplaining vs Overreaching, and in my personal opinion it overreaches to use plot devices like that after seeing this page or to have four "lies" and/or "story changes" just within Zou or to have a swordsman push strings with no explanation of not trying to cut them, risking insulting reader intelligence with how the writing does what it wants for the sake of meeting its goals. It'd be a totally valid opinion for anyone to say "not everything needs an explanation", but sometimes things come up that rub me the wrong way with the writing style and cheaply done plot advancements; that's just my personal opinion.
To be fair, he was dying of starvation/thirst a few moments ago. You can't really expect him to shrug off poison in that condition.
This is basic medicine. Bad health = Bad immunologic system.

LoL I've just remembered…this was supposed to be a stealth mission right
That went wrong so fast! -

The guy at the end ought be the oldest brother, and the middle brother will have his curls right in the middle of his eyebrows. Calling it now.

Oh, Oda's grandmother passed away. That explains the shorter-than-usual chapter and the upcoming break (funeral/mourning)
That commend reminds me that he referred to that before in one of SBS'. In it, Oda says that the reason he only has the bad guys saying "kill" is because his grandmother taught him it was a very hurtful word. So while he does have the SHs say it during gag moments, he reserves that word for villains to use.

@Mr.:

What? No. Why would you think that was even remotely a possibility.
Like there's literally no reason to think this.
-Black Drum is in South Blue, so yeah not happening.
-Wapol won't even be there since he's going to the Reverie.
-Why would you think Black Drum would have doctors of note. That had nothing to do with Wapol, that was a feature of Drum. -
So how much does he look like Sanji ?
Will he be all over Nami like his bro ? -
Good old "Luffy indisposed" plot device, though.
It just wouldn't be One Piece without that. Especially if he doesn't recover until the 2nd half or last third of the arc. Though I think he set a new record here–indisposed before he even makes it to the island.

I was joking with that bit
-
It would be interesting if the brothers were like quintuplets, I.e. born same day. Evil Sanji looks deadly though.

How so? He literally just looks like a clean faced Sanji with his eyebrow reversed right now and a hood covering whatever his hair is. He's expressionless thus far.
-
Like someone suggested on Reddit, what if Big Mom's daughters come in sets of two: Lola and Bege's wife, Puddin and The Three-Eyed Girl (this if they aren't the same person). Some sort of mirror images which goes with the Alice theme, only this time instead of Alice in Wonderland it's Through the Looking Glass.
-
After reading the chapter again, something caught my interest which I don't know if it was mentioned yet. The Germa 66 ship looks like a Den Den Mushi, at least the head of the ship. I wonder if it's a very rare kind of Den Den mushi since we know that there are different kinds. We know that black ones stop interceptions of messages, so perhaps one of this size can allow for farther distance of communication, or area of effect is much bigger of what it can do. Perhaps if there is a fleet of them you can have a main ship communicate with the others, and can move without needing someone at the wheel. It might just be they decided to make it in the shape of a den den mushi.

Well I'm not really bothered by it. It was kinda cute in a way. Even if eating that fish raw was a little too much even by Luffy's standards. The moment I saw Luffy was looking ill, I realized they were about to get in some trouble. It's just a shame that it appears there wouldn't be that much trouble if Luffy was fine.
-
Could it be a Vinsmoke girl left to Niji hidden behind the speech bubble ?
-
yes it's rather common, it's called den den muship!
i also wonder if sora also was the one that invented soru and walked over everything
-
Sora means sky by th way.
-
Those Wizards looks fabulous and godamnit that Gotti guy looks generic as hell.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I'm pretty sure that Sora guy is supossed to be Sengoku.

anyone notice 1st page (cover) haredas & the elder from Weatheria wear clothes like a known caracteres [Sabo , Law , Jango ,Monet , ???]

That door was without a doubt the best thing to happen in the entire series.

Finally got to read it.
Man, I am loving every minute in the Sunny. Chopper going through Sanji locker alone got me laughing. And, again, every line Pekoms says make me like him even more - kinda surprising how he is suddenly fine with fooling BM Pirates.
I guess I could say the same about the scenes taking place in Big Mom's singing ship, so yeah, I am enjoying the latest chapters a lot.

Yeah, Pekoms almost sounds as if he no longer considers himself as a member of the Big Mom Pirates.
