"This is not "Warriors"" (though, the big rumor right now is it's another series about The Three Kingdoms and/or a Dynasty Warriors reboot, with the 15 year anniversary of the Dynasty Warriors series coming August 3rd, some even say it's another Kessen game). More information coming in 7 days, for those interested (and I know some people–quite a few people--on this forum enjoy Koei Tecmo and Omega Force games).

It's just a tease, so there may not be much of any info at the moment to post. And I'd wait until we see what it is before we merge it with some threads

They're finally going to do Monster Racers 2! Its about damn time, I loved their pokemon ripoff! It had a lot of cool ideas, just lacked the decade of constant revision and tweaking.
(No seriously. I legitly really liked the game, paper thin ripoff though it was. The actual racing was pretty fun, it had a lot of color customization, most of the designs were cool… mostly it just suffered from the Persona problem where breeding mons to pass on desired traits was a pain in the ass thanks to RNG)

is this gonna be like when Dragon Quest Heroes was "not a Warriors game"?

is this gonna be like when Dragon Quest Heroes was "not a Warriors game"?
LOL. Probably going to be Dynasty Warriors, either another entry (aka Dynasty Warriors 9) or the rumored reboot, with that 15 year anniversary coming up and all, almost right around the same date as the reveal.
Also. I find it odd they put the word warrior in quotes. And lastly, I forgot to mention in the OP, but, they plan to hint at the title every day leading up to its reveal in 7 days.

How do you reboot a game that retells the history of the Three Kingdoms every game?
-
How do you reboot a game that retells the history of the Three Kingdoms every game?
By actually making the game a story-driven, action RPG-esque experience as opposed to a brief description before each battle, and then, hacking-and-slashing down countless enemies.
Also. Second teaser:

Its not this right?

Its not this right?
No. It's a brand new game, according to Koei and Omega Force, one not currently known about.

@The:

That would essentially be turning it into a different game entirely though.

Hence it being called a reboot, and not a sequel(?).

I meant literally turning it into something completely different like Mario going from platformer to RPG.

Third teaser:

So my guess so far is that it's taking place in a shitty future a'la WH40K

4th teaser:
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Biggest popular theory now is that Tecmo Koei and Omega Force are developing an Attack on Titan game, based on the worded teasers.
-
So, at this point, it's almost 100% certain it's going to be some sort of Attack on Titan "Warriors", if you will, based on the hints that have been given, and now, someone from Famitsu saying it is, IN FACT, something A LOT of people have already been guessing (which, the most guessed thing is an Attack on Titan game).
Here's the spoilers I missed, and today's spoiler:

so it is AoT then? meh
-
Oh great another Musou game based on an ongoing manga property.
-
I wonder how an SnK musou game would work honestly, there'd barely be any characters or variations in movesets. Perhaps it will be another kind of game?
-
Urgh SnK… its not a musou guys, they are saying its not a warriors game, so its not a musou.
-
I await screens before casting judgment and forcefully assimilating this into the musou madness thread
-
Urgh SnK… its not a musou guys, they are saying its not a warriors game, so its not a musou.
They also said that about the Dragon Quest game but it was definitely a Musou in spirit.
-

Well I didn't know that I guess it might be a musou then, not like they have to try too hard, companies having been putting out shitty after shitty SnK games and apparently they sell.
-
If it really is attack on Titan, it means the nature of the enemies will require slightly different combat mechanics… but the main characters will probably play the same on the same kind of map and power up on the same kind of tiny fodder before the big guys.
Just like the DQ game with its weird ass boss battles.

I didn't knew it was possible to make 2 games about a manga with only 80 chapters.

The publisher's don't care if they have so few chapters or episodes to go off of they're going to make a game and you're going to play it damn it.

2? there are like 10 games, from handhelds to smartphones to consoles.

There's an interview with Koei Tecmo's managing director out now that sheds more light on the game.
Here's the translated summary:
! * The project began from around the end of 2013 into January and February 2014.
! * It’s an action game that factors in the elements of being “united with your companions” and the “sacrifice of your companions.” It’s different from what many refer to as a “hunting game.”- The game also incorporates ideas offered by the original author Hajime Isayama.
- The game will follow the original story written by Hajime Isayama.
- As an action game, Koei Tecmo wants to establish an image where players can move around the world of Attack on Titan as they like. It won’t be a ‘defeat the enemy, progress the story’-type game. At its core, it’s an action game and within that, players will be able to understand the story.
- The game will start from the beginning of the original story.
- From its initial planning, Koinuma was moving forward with the title on his own. After becoming managing director of Koei Tecmo in April, Koinuma’s connection to the project became difficult, but he did not move away from development and supervised the game’s direction and management.
- The game is being developed with PlayStation 4 as the lead platform. Previously, Koei Tecmo would base its games on PlayStation 3, brush it up for PlayStation 4, and release a PlayStation 3-level handheld version for PS Vita. This time, PlayStation 4 is being given priority.
- The game’s action parts have been built and scrapped over three times—repeated trial and error. The story, side elements, and systems are doing well, though. Somehow, Koei Tecmo wants to release it in Japan “this winter.”
- The 3D Manuever Gear is the most important element, making sure you move and fight comfortably with it and without compromise.
- Whether or not the player takes on the role of Eren Yaeger is still a secret.
- They plan to make the action draw you in with quick and elegant take downs.

Admittedly it's been a while since I cared about anything AoT, but doesn't it seem kind of contradictory to the entire idea behind a musou game? Instead of one man defeating hundreds of enemies, it's a dozen or so people doing their damndest to take out even a single enemy, and half of them dying in the process. Unless you switch to Titan v Titan combat, in which case it's more like an MMA fight.
I guess what I'm saying is, they're definitely going to have to switch up their usual style and depart from the musou formula for this one. Running through titans like a lawnmower would kind of destroy the entire point of the setting, yeah?

Didn't Koei explicitly say this wasn't a musou when they were teasing it?
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Nevermind, saw Robby's point about DQH.
Not sure how it'd work outside of Eren's Titan form antics.
-
Lmfao! Don't trust Robby until they release Gameplay trailer. Than the real fun will begin. lol
-
Is there a chance we get that on WiiU or 3DS?

Would it be funny if this game had English voice acting while the next Pirate Warriors game only has none. XD
We piece fans get no respect in the community. lol

One Piece games historically have had issues with having both the english and japanese dubs being on the games never been explained as to why.

Corporate greed and funimation still dubbing the anime. HELL! Last time they dub something Piece related is when the Wii version of unlimited cruise came out. And it took Franky's voice actor the longest just to get into the show. (Back when this forum page was Notorious for believing that the anime will drop its license from Funimation.)
Before I even join this site. You guys used to panic a lot about the status of the show in North America. Ever since Detective Conan dub got dropped. (For Obvious reasons?) cough cough americanization cough cough

And other legal reasons of course!

I don't think it has anything to do with Funimation specifically dubbing the show especially seeing as how that hasn't affected any of the DragonBall games that feature the english dub cast.

I would think the weird character designs, genre of the show, & the fact it had virtually no exposure had more to do with that.

Well it's because it's a establish franchise and if there isn't a dub in any DBZ game. The fans will be pissed! (I did grow up with the dub in the toonami days. lol)

Maybe your right about that.

Then again. Anime these days have very weird anime designs. Even the moé crap. XD (Pretty girls to fuck!) LOL

It's not about "no respect," it's all about money. It's clear at this point that Bandai-Namco feels it's not worth putting money into dubbing One Piece games. Back when dubbed One Piece games were coming out, they sold pretty terribly. When we had our last English-cast game (Unlimited Adventure back in 2008), it must have sold so poorly that they decided to avoid pretty much every One Piece game for the next five years (despite them all coming out subtitled-only in Europe, including the UK). Seems like they finally decided to test the waters after half a decade with releasing Pirate Warriors 1 digitally and subtitled-only in 2012, and it appears to have been enough of a success to warrant releasing newer games physically, but dubbing them still wouldn't be worth the hassle.

I grew up with DBZ on Toonami too… but I still switch the voices to Japanese.

Umm? The reason why the last game bombed so hard was because it came out at a time when the Wii wasn't as killer app before Wii Sports came out. But the company who made that game… Never even market it outside of the Americans and also the 4Kids dub destroyed One Piece's reputation in America and Toonami dropped the dub Midway through the Skypia arc. XD

I know right? lol

Also I forgot to mention that most new comings who buy Japanese games preferred to have it in English.
There's Studies that prove that in articles all over the world and even in podcasts.

Wha? The Wii was extremely successful in its early years, which includes when Unlimited Adventure came out. Besides, Wii Sports came bundled with the Wii when it launched in late 2006. Despite OP's bad rep from 4Kids, several games actually came out during the time. UA was likely just the final nail in the coffin.

But did Namco Bandai market the game outside the Internet? This was during the time when online marketing was none existed for anime and manga itself, and when they did market it, nobody cared about it. And you gotta remember that Funi dubbed that game before we even got any of the characters dubbed in the show. Including Franky!
I remember those horror stories about the future of the dub and how they may drop it if it didn't get enough sales online?
Thankfully YouTube has become a better place for marketing sales better than buying ads on television and that Google Ads cents is allot cheaper for anime companies. XD

The anime & manga market was definitely different compared to now, which was a big part of it. The game did get some advertising, though. I remember the Movie 8 DVD advertised it and the Shonen Jump magazine was all over promoting it, among other things. FUNi did dub ahead in the game, yeah, but I don't think that negatively affected it. If anything it sparked interest because a lot of people were interested in the game for going beyond Skypiea.

Yup. Also I need the games in my hands now. XD
