I've been rereading One Piece (digitally coloured, of course) from the start, and I'm currently on Skypiea. I've been wanting to talk about a lot of things I've read so far but there doesn't seem to be a good thread to post them. I made this thread to talk about stuff that you notice or just things you want ask or discuss while you reread One Piece. Making threads about arcs that happened years ago (Skypiea was a decade ago!) sounds silly, so for both new readers and rereaders alike, I think a discussion thread that can cover that will be a good idea.
In any case, one of my questions is for the oldies out there: when you first read Robin joining, what was your reaction, or the internet's reaction? I got into One Piece way too late for that (around 2007 or 2008), and first watched the Davy Back Fight arc, so I already knew Robin was gonna join. I'm really interested on how much of a shocker it was. I wasn't a shocked at all, but it's a shame that I didn't.
Also about Skypiea…damn, I forgot how obnoxiously annoying the Shandians are. Wiper is the worst out of all of them. They Hody Jones and his crew sound like preachers on a street. I'm on Chapter 258, where Wiper attacks Luffy because...something and Braham attack Zoro because...something. I can't be the only one who feels like this. The Shandians are just assholes.
I also want to say that this arc is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay faster in the manga than in the anime. Like, wow. I don't remember Angel Island being that short.
