Re:Zero. After 5 episodes I can't get my head around about this series and the main char.

He's like a Love Sim MC trapped in Horror Visual Novel. He gets his priorities straight :ninja:
But yeah, the fantasy world setting is kinda wasted when it's just focused on one guy getting killed and respawning while making little to no progress towards the date promise lol.

! I assume episode 5 is trying to tell us that the MC can't do jack when he is the one being targeted for murder, but damn he should've been more cautious since the first time he suffered death in the Mansion (which he took lightly or simply overlooked), instead of goofing off with every girls he could find in it.

Mayoiga has managed to turn into one huge clusterfuck of a series. Dropped for good.

I was worried that the titan spinoff might become less entertaining with the introduction of the Kabaneri concept, but the repercussions to that state that were revealed in episode 3 made up for it a bit. There is after all more to it than being immortal while keeping one's sanity. Curious to see how the cliffhanger will be handled next time.

! Unless I was mistaken, his first death was caused by mana drain(?) performed by the library keeper. Idk why, but it felt like the death itself was played as joke than anything serious.

No that didn't kill him, remember because after respawning he talked to the bookkeeper about it and it still happened. He just went back to sleep for a while after it.

Have you watched Tonkatsu DJ Agetarou?
It's a slice of life story about a boy who wants to be a dj while learning to make tonkatsu in his family's shop.
I won't say it's outright funny but it has its charm.
Though each episode is around 9 minutes long.

The first time it happened, he didn't seem to be in any condition to go back to his room by himself though. There's a time gap between his first wake and the second time, which can be explained if someone did carry him back to his room, secretly. I'm just curious whether the reason why he's being targeted at all actually makes sense or not.

I mean, if the library keeper did kill him the first time, I wouldn't blame her since he was being aggravating know-it-all jackass who acted overly familiar with her despite being a stranger.

Space patrol Lulco is pretty fantastic. It's a new series by Trigger and you'll probably be able to tell if you'd like it or not based on just the OP

Yeah, Space Patrol Luluco is so much fun. Especially the past few episodes. The characters are fun and the fanservice doesn't go creepy. It's all in good fun and especially the past few episodes have looked great, too.

Sakamoto Desu Ga continues to be a lot of fun, too. My highlight in episode 4 was definitely Sakamoto in Brasil.

I really enjoyed episode 4 of Kabaneri, too. It's so damn cliché, but I enjoy the characters and at it's best it looks great. The contrast between the stills and the really well-animated parts of the episode was pretty jarring, though. I could also ask why Ikoma and Mumei don't just take the blood of the dead people. Yeah, probably a moral thing, but I kind of want that adressed.

Luluco's been a gem this season and I'll give it props, too. I wish the episodes could be longer, but they're clusters of off-the-wall Studio Trigger madness. Also there's a character called Overjustice who is a flaming justice skeleton and is basically the best. I'm also really digging the soundtrack and want to hear a release of it.

I forgot about Flying Witch as well, that's a relaxing and funny show. Not really a belly laugh sort of show like Luluco is but it's oozing with charm and always leaves me in a good mood. I guess it's kind of the opposite of Luluco in that weird stuff happens but everyone is super mellow.

2 of them are retellings (Re:Ride, Re:Road), the other one is an actual new story. Haven't seen it yet, but really excited to do so.

Don't get your hopes up too high, mate.

Yowamushi Pedal works best when given enough episodes to properly depict a race with all its different facets. The movie however is around 90 minutes long iirc, and dedicates about half of it to the actual race. You can guess where I'm going with this… Just view it as a nice little breather story, there to kill some time till the third season arrives. Otherwise it might sour your enjoyment.

Not sure if you guys enjoy Sakamoto but i have been laughing hard at its episodes.That guy feels like how Iida would have been before coming to the Hero Academy.Everything he does is so out of this world and everyone goes WTF is he doing. Great stuff.

As others suggested, Luluco is great, but if you want something that's unintentionally hilarious and so bad it's good, you should check out Big Order. Same mangaka as Mirai Nikki - hell, it's basically Mirai Nikki but with STANDS this time!

Okay it sounds good enough, I'll probably leave it until just before season 3 starts up to get me hyped for it.

Yeah I am. I was pretty sceptical after the first episode but the last couple have been great. The fight scene cool enough but it was the fish out of water episode that really got me hooked. The little sister who speaks like a samurai is also adorable and hilarious with her top tier banter. it's pretty nice to have little sister characters like her and the one from Flying witch who aren't just otakubait spewing Onii-chan" every 5 seconds..

Yeah, it's real damn good. I was ready for massive disappointment (it still could happen, I'm staying on my toes just in case). AoT still takes a stronger place in my heart, though. I think Kabaneri is a little more standard in terms of characterization, I'm not nearly as invested in learning about the Kabane(ri) and it's been really really predictable to me. Even those times when AoT is predictable it's managed to surprise me in execution, but Kabaneri really hasn't done that.

But I'm down with both, really. Why not? Anime is my hobby, I'm here to like and enjoy things.

The season is great. There is so much variety and most of it is really enjoyable.

That YowaPedal movie was really great. One of my favorite anime movie based on a manga.

Joker Game is still the best anime of the season IMO. Really well written.

I didn't expect to enjoy Tonkatsu DJ Agetarou as much as I did. That last episode was great.

I mentioned it a couple of posts up but I think Flying Witch might be more along the lines of what your looking for. It's not Chihayafuru season 3 though.

Did you read the manga how does it compare? When I read the manga a while back it was kind of only slice of life. Didn't feel like it had much comedy.
Just stuff happens and anything interesting is just the contrast between how ordinary things are vs pretty tame witch stuff.

Nah I haven't read the manga I've only seen what's out of the anime. To me it gives a very Yotsuba& kind of feeling. It is very slice of life but it is leaning on the more comedic side of things so far.

Kabaneri still looks good. Action is great too. Downside is, the people and the plot appear incredible stupid oftentimes, but oh well I'm definitely sticking with it.

And to Hero Academia, which is awesome of course.
Isn't it a bit premature to give the recruits their individual costumes right away? Wouldn't that be unnecessary disheartening for everyone dropping out, be it because of severe injuries ot the high drop out rate? Uniforms in the same color would be more suitable in this case imo.

They can provide some handy quirk enhancing features, which the kind of training they're undergoing is really nice to have, not only for that, but testing it out and thinking on future improvements. And besides, they're playing hero and villains, they oughta have their proper costumes lol

Hm, good point. Still, I would give recruits only unified coloured costumes if they enhance quirks or not. Teams can be marked with armbands.

This week's Kabaneri was really good! Mumei is a great character and the cliffhanger was at once the first thing that seriously surprised me in the series and something that really made me laugh. It's a giant monster-like creature, but you see it's totally not a Titan because it doesn't have a mouth and looks more like a spider.

Grandrodeo did nearly every opening for Kuroko no basket, they are for sure my guilty pleasure band. Cheesy but also high energy.

That Luluco episode was great. I love how the planet's name looked something like the name of Kill La Kill OST tracks might be.

All the Kill La Kill references had me reeling. They even brought in "Don't Lose Your Way!" I wonder when we're gonna find out that the whole Triggerverse is interconnected and Overjustice really is Inferno Cop's older brother.

At this point I'll probably stick with Twinstar Exorcists just to complete it (it's not so boring or icky to just drop it), but the first episode remains the best one. It kinda lost a lot of it's energy the past few episodes and it was just a generic shounen with an cool-looking aesthetic anyway. Probably the weakest series I'm watching this season at this point.

Half-way season brief impressions:

My Hero Academia - Excellent adaption, favorite of the season so far.
Kabaneri Of The Iron Fortress - Great characters and unique art style, but pretty by-the-book plot and very little brains in there.
Haven't You Heard? I'm Sakamoto - Pretty funny, same gag, but always funny execution.
Space Patrol Luluco - All the fun insanity associated with Imaishi, but without some of the icky parts Kill La Kill had.
Flying Witch - Charming and relaxing slice-of-life.
Sailor Moon Crystal Season III - Entertaining magical girl fare, looks really good doing it's thing, considerable improvement over previous seasons (copared to what I've seen).
Macross Delta - Has the same problem as Frontier had - messy CG in action scenes. The songs are catchy, though and spectacles fun to watch, even if ridiculous.

Re:zero's episode 7 was the strongest episode I've seen in all shows this season. I'm really looking forward where the show will go on from this point on.
