Don't get me wrong, it's a fantastically well sculpted figure, but there are 3 reasons why I won't be getting it:
- Newgate died before the timeskip. Now this is purely personal preference, but I'm not big on posthumous figures. Roger, Ace, Whitebeard, Rosinante, Bellemere, Saul. I have no real interest in figures of characters we know will not make a future appearance other than through flashbacks.
- The scale. I'm pretty sure Newgate will not be in 1/8 scale, which is understandable, but still is a shame.
- The price! This is pure speculation, but given Jinbe's RRP was ¥18,500, I think we can safely assume this will be over ¥20,000. For me, this is too much given points 1 and 2 above.
On a separate note, I've once again been looking at the popularity poll, and it really makes you realise why we are getting certain figure over others. In fact, Bege is a huge surprise since he came about 50th in the vote, with most figures being taken from the top 10 characters.
Doflamingo (17th), Brook (19th) & Franky (20th) are currently the most popular characters to have not received either a new POP or Variable Action Hero in recent times.
Carrot (26th), Pudding (28th) & Nekomamushi (30th) are the most popular New World characters to yet receive a POP.
Smoker (32nd), Buggy (34th) & Bepo (36th) are the most popular original characters with post timeskip reveals, but are yet to receive a POP.
Notable mentions:
Katakuri (43rd), Senior Pink (44th), Blackbeard (45th), Urouge (46th), Caesar Clown (49th)
Coby, Ichiji, Pedro, Jewelry Bonney, Big Mom.
So in summary, ignoring the usual suspects, with any luck we'll see a Carrot, Pudding, Nekomamushi or Katakuri POP reveal at Megahobby Expo in May!!!

Yeah, I see what you mean. He does have a bit of a "Incredible Hulk" thing going on. Perhaps once painted and shaded it won't look as monstrous.
I think this is Megahouse artists taking liberties again. The director said in his interview that their figures are only loosely based off the original art, but they like to stylise and accentuate certain characteristics. Almost like caricatures.
That is why a lot of the faces are more realistic and less cartoonish (like Figuart Zero).

Damn… that WB is an easy pass especially if Megahouse will be pricing it more than Jimbe's. They could've given it a dynamic pose at least.
It seems to me that MH's Maximum line has been more of a miss than hit as Luffy's G4 and Jimbe are the only figs that I think fairly justify their premium prices.

It's written neo maximum not SA maximum, so it's obviously from before timeskip.
I'm actually very interest in this one, he is the one who might worth it since a very long time, i'll just wait to see how the paint goes, if there is alternative parts and price. -

Who asked for more Shirohige? If they're smart, it'll go the way of Lao G. Honestly, there are literally a dozen post-timeskip figures I can think off the top of my head I'd rather see (with Zou characters like Carrot, Nekomamushi, and Jack being some of the best).

The thread name says it all. Fanservice. Just look at the popularity poll, do you see Lao G?? Do you see Jack??
Personally, if they wanted to make another "MAXIMUM", I would have gone for Doflamingo (17th in the poll) over Shirohige (27th). Would have displayed well with G4 Luffy and Law VS, but that's just me.
I keep wondering why they choose Bege over others and the only assumption I can make is that the character was already established prior to the timeskip. So even though he's not currently as popular as Carrot/Pudding, he's spent longer in the One Piece fandom.
Same may be true for Shirohige over Doflamingo??

If you think about it, all of the Strawhats with the exception of Franky and Brook have had a figure of some sort recently. Whether it be SOC, BB or Variable Action Hero. Even Chopper is still getting "Crimin" repaints. It is still pure fanservice though, so I appreciate your frustrations!
Sadly horn-point chopper bombed which killed all hope for future releases. We have nobody to blame but consumers who continually buy the regurgitated shit, but pass on the original stuff!!
Oh, and sorry, you haven't seen Reiju V2? I didn't post it out of disgust, but here you go. I'll let you make your own mind up:[hide]

Rebecca BB (December release) Was announced in Feb SJ Calendar (10 months in advance) and will likely be shown at the May Megahobby Expo (7 months in advance).
Following this logic, a Carrot/Pudding release in March 2019 would likely be announced in May 2018 SJ Calendar and then shown at August's C3AFA TOKYO 2018 at the earliest.
I'm not expecting a Katakuri until after, maybe a September 2019 release…............

I finally received my WCF Dressrosa 3&4 Strawhat Grandfleet today!! They look great! I just wish they had made Hajrudin as a MEGA!
Current display. Not sure how much longer 2 cases are going to hold out. Still no room for Vinsmokes or ATTACK set. Will need to make a plan this summer!

Looks like the July & August WCF MUGIWARA56 set will consist of the crew and a logo. I'm interested to see whether these are based off any particular arc or colourspread, or if they will just be random.
Also, I wonder if Augusts WCF MEGA SPECIAL is related or if it perhaps a WCI related MEGA. I really hope so!!

Haha! You know what? The Germa66 suited strawhat colorspread was the first thing that came to mind when I read this on the SJ calendar, but I never realized it was actually titled MUGIWARA56!!!!

Yeah, whilst amiami may have it up for 1,300 yen, I anticipate it will hit Manda for no more than 2k on release, so the price difference really will be negligible.
Admintatly you'll have to be quick, but in the first couple of weeks you should be able to find one if you remain vigilant :)
