Writing up an article on the history of P.O.Ps and dear god its quite sobering seeing not only the prices of the original line to the current ones but also the huge fall from grace Megahouse seemed to have. Although could point out that lines such as Nendoroid and Figma took the casual collectors away, and the rise of Attack on Titan knocking One Piece out of the limelight for that year or two its sad seeing them going from having releases every month of unique characters (although with a ton of limiteds in) to purely fanservice with the S.O.C, I.R.O and B.B lines, although was it the unique characters that killed it? I mean I can STILL find the likes of Arlong, Killer, Kid, Shilliew and Rob Lucchi (Leopard form) for dirt cheap at almost every con I go to.

Not only megahouse but the whole collecting changed, megahouse was great before 2013 then it started to get worst and it really stopped making me wanna buy portrait of pirates.recently the only one i bought are Zoro and Law SOC, but i don't find the SOC line to be compared with BB line, i mean the pose are really cool unlike the BB line being outrageous and disrespectful, now it looks like they cater to collectors that want girls with boobs and big butt.
Megahouse usually do the whole crew or at least the most demanding pop of every movie, film Z was never finished and we got no film Gold at all.
On Top of that they started making their figure only for JApanese market, pricier and also bigger so international fans has to pay expensive shipment.When you want to buy POP from your country seller the price are twice as expensive as the original, for example Jinbei is 250€ without shipping in my country, total madness.
I wish One Piece get another figure maker to care about figures at decent price with great quality but it seems that in the end they all care about milking the sh*t out of us…I'm just sticking with banpresto but again sometimes they mess up their product as they are just prize figures... -
I can't lie, even though I'm excited for Jinbe, the fact it's gonna cost me around £180 does take the shine off. I mean given the complete lack of accessories, alternate hands, faces, etc. it really is a lot to ask for a 1/8 scale fixed statue.
Bege on the other hand I'm a bit happier with since we have some alternative display options.
Reiju was another cash grab unfortunately. If the first figure wasn't enough, the BB one takes Megahouse to an all new low.
It's like Cyber-Robin said though, they've lost the casual collectors, their remaining audience is a) hardcore collectors (willing to pay the $$$ for original, accurate representations) and b) ecchi fans
I guess I fall into group a). Although I'm disappointed that our next legit figure will be a new Whitebeard, that will likely cost more than Jinbe!!
I may have to pass and cross my fingers for Pedro or SSJ Carrot!!

My new favorite WCF Robin! From the 20th anniversary set 2.
Diamond Flag Ship Nami. Not liking this line that much, both Nami and Boa Hankock have the same issues mainly the head/neck. Either the head is to small or the neck is too big, they just look odd and do not connect well. The Glitter and Glamours line is far superior but it seems they have switched to this now. Its cool that their more stylized, something different at least. Lots of fan service in this line heh.

I was looking at WCF customs recently and saw this upscale of Hajrudin. It got me thinking about a potential Big Mom Mega! Imagine it! Like Mega Whitebeard scale, and then you could get Napoleon, Zeus and Prometheus separate and add them on, like the Mini Merry/Attack set!!
I'm desperate for some Charlotte family merchandise, but there's just nothing.

First of all I get that the number 56 is a pun on the word "go-mu", which is why we see it appear often in the series, but what relevance does it here? Could this be the set with the Oda fish head character we saw previously? Then there's the MEGA "SPECIAL" whatever that means! I have dreamed of a MEGA Big Mom, and I honestly can't think of any colour spreads that contain anything that could be a MEGA. To me it makes sense and I think it would be amazing!! Also appears the new Nami POP has been moved up to July.

The Glitter and Glamours are just shiny repaints and the diamond flag ship line is rather disappointing. Next is Robin, then another Nami so soon, then Reju and finally Vivi. So a new line and the same characters as GG. Really would have loved more from the GG line like Tashigi or Rebecca, even the new female characters. Shirahoshi was a nice surprise at least, can't wait to receive her.

I think we're starting to see more Perona merch lately, which is nice and of course Reiju & Pudding are everywhere given the current manga/anime events.
Carrot is an interesting one as I know there is a lot of bunny girl fanservice in Japan, but they're usually humans in costume. Given that Carrot is actually a human/animal hybrid, any attempt to over sexualise might be quite disturbing.
Anyway, when you take the more recent additions out of the equation you're once again left with the usual suspects, Nami, Hancock, Robin, Vivi, Shirahoshi, Tashigi, rinse and repeat!!
It's starting to get old, but hey, that's why we have World Collectible Figures. Since they are so cheap to produce they can practically make anyone and it would make a return.

I have a question for you all regarding proxies, my sister is very interested in some Pokemon Center goods but it has been so long since I used a proxy I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations or advise please? Is Kolektakon still in business, looks like nothing has been updated in a year? I know the US has a Pokemon Center website but they don't ship to Canada and do not currently have what she wants to pre-order. So anything is appreciated thanks.

What's the crack with the WCF Treasure Rally sets anyway?
Is it basically banprestos idea of re-release the Strong World mugiwara that are now 40K+ on aftermarket?
They basically re-released Luffy, Nami, Franky & Shiki in set 1, and with Set 2 we're getting at the least Zoro and Chopper. I guess we'll see Usopp, Sanji, Robin & Brook by the end of a Set 3. That just leaves the alternate straw hat costumes and remaining Gold Lion crew/monster army which i doubt need a re-up.
Anyway, I just picked up the Thousand Sunny since I don't have any ships in my WCF collection and it seemed like a good place to start.

Yeah, I feel ya. Luckily most of the more recent sets i've either wanted all or none. I've pretty much accepted that 1,000 yen per figure is the cheapest i'll ever find them for. Doesn't sound like much, but now with a collection of over 100 it's certainly adds up.
Anyway, i'm loving the look of this set. Particulay Brook & Pedro who I don't think have had any other WCI merch. I'm also still intrigued by this Mugiwara 56 set and the MEGA special…....exciting times ahead!!

The Funko POPs One Piece series 2 is out, the store I went to only had Nami and Boa but those are the 2 I wanted the most anyways. Still need to hunt down Zoro and Franky. Boa has a black dot under her nose that I need to clean up but their quite nice. Love how Boa's dress and earrings are metallic/shiny.
Glitter & Glamours Shirahoshi came earlier this week, pretty nice though smaller then I had hoped.

Haha. It sure has! I'm still sticking to my guns and only getting post-timeskip canon characters. No pre-timeskip, no flashback, no filler, no movies.
To be honest I think i'm nearly there. There are still the tertiary characters like the caribou brothers, madam shyarly and the ryugu princes, etc. that I might get, but other than that i'm just looking forward to new sets.
I'm just thankful that I'm not as big of a dragon ball fan anymore and have zero desire to pay the crazy prices those go for. Although this display is quite inspirational. Kind makes me want to do a OP equivalent.

I am in europe. Which WCF's in particular are you looking for? I'll tell you now, it's no easy task trying to build a collection as these are prize figures that only get one (albeit massive) production run and aren't sold in retail stores.
My collection so far has taken me 6 months of "hunting" to amass. I've primarily used the following sites:

With Mandarake you can setup alerts so you get e-mailed whenever there is anything new. That being said, in most cases it's already sold out by the time you get the e-mail XD
I got into the habit of checking Manda 3/4 times a day. Mostly in the morning and lunchtime.
You can always pay the eBay prices if you are impatient. Most of the sets are available there, but they are typically double the price you'll find on Manda. I decided to play the long games since my currently collection has cost me around £1,000 I didn't want to spend more!
There is also Yahoo Auctions Japan along with other Japanese sites like suguru, but if you aren't buying in big bulk orders it's not usually worth the proxy fees and extra hassle.

I'm hoping to buy a house later this year and set something up, but until I'll just keep hoarding them. It sounds like you've got a good a strategy so far, but good luck sticking to it!

Tbh, there is so little to collect these days that I may very well cave. I've already started on the ships with the WCF Sunny-Go on its way XD
