And now the VAH starts a BB line XD
One Piece Collectibles v.11 Main Discussion - "Nothing but Fanservice!!"

-
Awesome! Not that I will ever buy it, VAH is overpriced. :P
-
Farewell chances of Brook or Franky ever.
-
So disappointing. After waiting all day and seeing no One Piece pictures it turns our photography of all One Piece merchandise was forbidden at the prize fair.
This video seems to suggest some prototypes were shown, but since I don't speak Japanese I have no clue XD
-
Pretty lame to not allow pictures. On an awesome note I finally received my Diamond Ship Boa Hancock prize fig, they shipped it on Sept.23 and I just got it. >:/
Also received my GG Vivi special version prize fig which shipped on Oct.27 yet I have it already lol. Pictures incoming tonight!–- Update From New Post Merge ---
One of my prettiest Ichiban Kuji collection (their boxes too), this collection was released last year but i got them last month. Despite being prize figures, I think they are really not bad at all. They don't come off the base like all IK figures, and the base is quite broad but understandably so since their kimonos spread out at the back.
Great pictures, I need to pick up Nami at some point. I believe I saw one on Mandarake for a fair price. No clue where you would find special version of Robin. Have you tried looking on Yahoo Japan Auctions?

Oh, I haven't tried Yahoo Japan Auctions yet… will do so. Thanks! Mandarake and AmiAmi are my go-to for figures but I haven't seen her on there at all (but I got the Robin normal kimono version from Mandarake), and I also tried Plamoya and other English-based online Japan stores.
I'm also waiting on my preorder of G&G Vivi special version from my local toy dealer - I can't wait, I think she's one of the better G&G figures alongside Reiju and Hancock.
I'm on the fence for the Flag Diamond Ship Hancock, many reviews say the G&G version is better. But I think eventually I will get her, because I like her pirate style outfit - despite being fanservice-y. Looking forward to your photos. -

Seems to have the following:
1. Wedding dress Boa Hancock White and Red Version
2. Nami holding a pole (should be her Clima Takt i assume)
3. Gomu Gomu no Mi
4. Another boa which I dun understand the video. Seem to be sitting down with the focus on her red dress with flaming dragon
5.:wub::wub: WCF Whole Cake Island 1 :wub::wub: - Fat Luffy & Chopper, Nami & Brook (whole cake island outfit), Pudding (pouting angry feeling), Pedro
6. WCF - Jinbei holding a pole with Luffy, Sabo, Ace, Shirahoshi connecting to it -
G&G Vivi special version and Diamond Ship Boa Hancock.
!
!
!
!Vivi is beautiful, the pose is dynamic and the sculpt/painting is great. Nicest Vivi in a very long time. Boa Hancock is not as great, the head almost seems to small and the neck does not connect to the head well, it looks odd. There are some seams on the legs but the quality is still pretty nice. The scale is the same as the G&G line. I'm sure I will still buy Nami and Robin from this line heh.

I'm so excited for the new WCF sets. The Whole Cake Island choices are not what I would have expected, but getting Luffy, Nami, Chopper and Brook is ok I guess.
Pedro and Pudding are awesome choices though and will go nicely with Carrot and Sanji from the previous Zou and Vinsmoke sets!!
Interested about the Jinbe set. I'm guess that's the Koinobori "Karp Streamer" with the other characters on the flags. Doesn't seem like the usually 6 pcs.

ya seems to have only 5 for that koinobori set. there is mention of mugiwara jolly roger which i assume is on the pole jinbei holding. if tat is seperate piece, then we will have the usual 6 ^^

Vivi looks fantastic! Boa is beautiful as well, but she somehow doesn't really look like her.

Vol.2 of the WCF 20th set arrived yesterday. I like how the logo piece fits nicely on the chair XD save me space.
No sure what happened with Zoro's chin though. Looks a bit derpy to me XD!

Yeah, I know the ones your talking about. With Luffy, Usopp and Alvida.
Oh well. June is a long wait for the next canon WCF set. I wonder if I can last that long. I'm trying really hard to avoid anything pre-timeskip, but the prospect of these 2 displayed together makes them hard to resist:
-
G&G Nami Santa Outfit prize fig is out in Japan! Grabbed the red suit version myself.
-
Well that's that decided. Cancelling the latest 20th Anniversary POP Luffy and buying the new Jump 50th Anniversary Luffy.
Only 1cm taller, so should scale pretty well with the others!
-
It seems all Luffy figures (except a few exceptions) have certain flaws. The hair on that one is weird.

Could do with an update to the shop list methinks, I tend to only shop at Mandarake these days, where are the rest of ya'll shopping?

AmiAmi and Mandarake mainly. A lot of the stuff now I'm just picking up whenever I see them in stores
-

Mostly Mandarake. And I have gotten stuff off Plamoya as well, they can be quite expensive but stuff sold out on Mandarake can usually be found there.
-
Yeah, for me it's mainly Manda, Jungle and amiami pre-owned for Prize figures. You can also sometimes shop around and find random shops with legit items in stock.
Can't forget eBay of course. If you know what you are looking for and the seller has good communication you are usually safe.
Other than that, Nippon Yasan is still good for pre-orders.
-
More funko pops for our delight! (maybe) Zoro, Franky, Nami and Hancock are on their way. Surprised Franky got in over Sanji but hopefully this means wave 3 is coming soon with the rest of the crew
-
Almost there with the WCF collection. Just a handful left. Luffy (Sabaody Disguise), King Neptune w/ Hoe, and…...if I can find it.....Hody Jones! XD
-
This forum is a lot more quiet than it used to be lol

Everything is fan service these days. Plus, there aren't many good lines anymore.

Personally looking for Jump 50th anniversary stuff and just not finding it anywhere. Such as the Logos and the WCF. Really getting annoying.

Yeah, it's a pretty sad state of affairs.
It seems manga/anime is dying. There was a golden age in the west that started at the turn millennium with Pokemon & Dragon Ball Z.
We've rode this wave for over a decade, but sadly in the past 5 years it's come crashing down. Manga used to be for kids, but you can't tell me young teenagers are buying fanservice figures and reading all this doujinshi.
Oda is pretty much carrying the torch at this point. Every other mangaka has either sold-out, given up, or just can't compete. The industry is in a shambles, publishers and licensors are going out of businesses and the whole show is being run by scanlators and profiteers.
With shows like JoJo & Berserk not getting licenced for future animes and Madhouse dropping One Punch Man, there really is no hope.
All we can dream is we have another 20 years of One Piece to look forward to!!

Mostly this. We don't have a One Piece/Naruto/Bleach tandem anymore. Hunter X Hunter is practically dead and Toriko is dead. Now, there's just OP, One Punch Man, Attack on Titan (meh) and a few other interesting manga out there. Personally, though, I hope OP ends in 10 years. Nothing would piss me off more than knowing I'm gonna drop dead without seeing the end of this. I've put in like 15 years already.
-
Personally I've been more into Anime and Manga as of late once I started avoiding stuff like fandoms like the plague. Over in the UK One Piece was never a huge thing and Animeonly became popular once Attack on Titan (don't like it myself) rolled around. Merchwise One Piece is all but dead for me. But then I got into stuff like Girls und Panzer, Gundam (that's still going) Tiger and Bunny etc which still have a lot of merch. (hell I've just sank about £150 on GuP merch last weekend alone) not to mention the Nendoroid/Figma series which are doing series at an affordable price point. There's even some series like Prison School or Amagi Brilliant Park which I love enough to buy almost anything I see.
Anime/Manga isn't dead, and going by sales etc it seems quite the opposite here. The issue is the big Shonen are dead and One Piece is the only consistent. My Hero Academia, Food Wars, Haikyuu etc are the big ones now. With Papa One Piece and Great Pops Dragonball and Great Great Pops Gundam keeping an eye on

This kinda proves my point though. Those 3 shows are original anime's, which we seem to be seeing more of now, with less focus on long running manga series.
Adaptations are also getting 12 episode seasons now, as opposed to the long running shows we used to get.
As a result, merch is geared more toward the "throw away" series now, capitalizing off the hype. Gone are the days of lines for specific shows running for decades.
The fact that even Shingeki No Kyojin, Terra Formars and One Punch Man have lost longevity after relatively short runs seems to be the writing on the wall.
I've read numerous articles about the death of mainstream manga due to it's failure to adapt to the digital revolution and sadly it seems we are reaching that point, with more dojinshi and independent publishers producing mediocre art and watering down an already over saturated market.
There was even talk of giving publishers the rights to intellectual properties like Dragon Ball & Naruto allowing them to create original stories using different writers and artists (like the american comic publishers DC and Marvel have done with Superman & Spiderman, etc.).
You could say it's already started with Toyotaro taking on production of Super from Toriyama, leaving the door open to anyone to continue penning the exploits of Goku in the future.
Let's enjoy this 50 year celebration for Shonen Jump, because unless things change, they won't see another 50!
-
One Punch man's second season going to a different studio isn't surprising. Madhouse do that a lot. The talk of doom and gloom and the death of Manga has come and gone many times, been reading well over 20 years here and it's just going through some changes.
It's more likely the fans of the last generation feel it is "dying" because their series are coming to a close, new things are coming and they aren't necessarily connecting with them, for whatever reason.
If you're interested in an interesting look at the topic, it's well worth checking out Super Eyepatch Wolf's video. I've come to adore his stuff.
It gives a fantastic perspective on the popularity of certain Manga and why Shueisha is aiming for smaller series.
There's a huge amount of Manga out there and while it may not have the same boom in the West at the moment as stuff like AoT or Naruto or Bleach had, it may again. Personally I find I'm more invested in series like Dr Stone and Neverland at the moment, while still massively growing my physical Manga collection with new stuff.
I don't collect much merch these days though. The Logokikaku, the WCF and the like.
I think Jump will be here long after any of us are.

I think you're right about that disconnect between the older fans and the new shows. When you consider One Piece, Hunter X Hunter and Gintama are the last 3 long running titles in Weekly Shonen Jump and the time between when Gintama started (2003) to the next oldest series Haikyu!! (2012) is almost 10 years. That could be considered a generational gap.
For me, the Kinnikuman Revival series which is now run as a web comic on Shueisha's Weekly Playboy magazine website is probably one of the last saving graces. Which kinda goes to show the era I'm hanging on to.
Thanks for turning me onto Dr. Stone, I'll have to give it a read since the premise sounds good and the art looks pretty sweet.
I hope SJ can return to it's former glory, but back to merchandise, I think that is the market that get hit's hard the most. Whether it's a slump, generational gap or the digitization of print media, if the "figures" (excuse the pun) don't stack up, manufacturing companies are going to either a) slow down or b) play it safe.
And that is exactly what we've seen with OP merch over the past 3 years.
-
Dr. Stone has honestly been my favourite series in the past few month. Here's hoping it'll be around for some time (although I fear much like Eyeshield it'll go under the radar for merch.)
It ses me when I see the amount of swimsuit merch One Piece gets when there are plenty of series out there that swimsuit merch would make so much sense for. Yet they got nothing. I honestly expected Keijo!!! to be the big swimsuit series and get tons of merch but I don't think I've seen a single thing yet. Prison School also got a handful of figures but nothing substantial. I was honestly surprised that a series that was as popular as Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid never got many ecchi figures. Food Wars they seemed to try and put some out but then they dropped them, even now I rarely see any Food Wars merch outside of ecchi guys.
But one thing that I did notice was that a series doesn't have to be huge to get loads of merch. Look at long running series such as Fairy Tail or Bleach and now little they seemed to get when they were out. It wasn't non-existant but put it next to a shorter series like Durarara or Re:Zero and there's a huge gap.
Its also worth pointing out the quality of some merch too. As someone said previously some series they just seem to be putting out small stuff and the same chars over and over. Look at Yuri on Ice. I was at a con last weekend and around 90% of the legit stalls were full of that stuff. And it was just keyrings and whenever a figure did appear it was only of the main three characters. Goodsmile has jumped on this one too and already they've released 2-3 variants of the main characters and it already feels they just don't have any decent ideas for merch because it all looks the same. Re:Zero was another one that was everywhere but it's only really merch of Rem/Ram and sometimes Emilia that you ever see (which is a shame because I'd LOVE to see a Wilhelm figure) in some series, again Re:Zero and Konosuba it's almost impossible to get merch of the main characters. Seems unfair.
-
Oh well, enough of the negativity for now. It is what it is and I'm sure there won't be much hype for it, but it's Megahobby Expo this weekend!
My only wish would be, if they do announce Pudding, is that they:
a) Give her accurate proporations
b) Make her pose non seductive
b) Give her a comedic face
c) Include NitroBasically, if they can just do a 1/8 up-scale version of the Figuarts Zero with better details and paint app that's all I ask:
!
Please don't let us down MH and give us this!
!
-
I'd probably buy Pudding if they give her an alt face with that thing (which may or may not be a spoiler cus I dunno where the anime is right now)
also Carrot. I like Carrot enough to buy merch of her.

Yeah, both Pudding and Carrot would be nice, but I had such high hopes for Reijuu and they really failed with her so i'm anxious about any future female characters.
I can't deny the greatness of Jinbe though. I'm also looking forward to see how this Law VS Ver. turns out later this month and whether these "diorama style" releases become a thing.

Guys, i need your opinion
I've been trying to collect vice-captain & right hand man figure, but, a limit budget make me can't afford to buy POP or Fzo
And now i was trying to collect vice captain wcf, so far i have benn beckman, zoro & marco, and i was hoping that wcf whole cake vol.2 had katakuri, and i had rayleigh vol.0 on my list.
The question that i need an answer is…
1.who is blackbeard vice captain?
2.is jack was kaido vice captain? Or maybe there's another character above jack on kaido pirates?
3.is bepo was law vice captain?
4.did dragon has a right hand man?Any opinion would be appreciated :D

New Megahouse stuff shown off
SOC Bege (!!!!)
!
BB 02 Nico Robin (not gonna lie, I appreciate the cartooniness in her legs' sculpt)
!
"New Version" Nami (Stripper edition?)
!
Ver. 02 Reiju "Limited" (too horny about being injured???)
!
-
I would be interested in Bege if they'd gave him a decent pose. I hate those sitting down ones as they're just too boring of sculpt. (At least if he's this popular to get a P.O.P then we should get a Figuarts and something from Banpresto right?) Robin i'm buying for the sake of completionism, she doesn't seem quite as bad as the others but maybe thats just me.
Stripper Nami and Reiju….nah.
-
Hyped for Bege! He's the first original male POP since Corazon, and if we're talking about present timeline, first since we got Toy Soldier, Barto, Cavendish & Bellamy back in 2014!!
Seems MH have been hibernating for 4 years and they've just woken up!
Shame we're still getting all the BB stuff, but if the money from those lets them do proper figures every 6 months I'll take it. Also this made me drool!

So is anyone getting Trafalgar Law Vs? Nippon Yasan has confirmed release for tomorrow, but I honestly don't know if it's worth it.

For the paint get a "Flash Magic Eraser", that's what they're called in the UK, not sure where you are. They work wonders.
-
My experience has been that a white eraser works well LoveChopper but if its deeply stained you may just have to live with it. Any kind of chemical would most likely damage it.

thanks for the suggestion. may be hard but will try to find that in Singapore. someone also suggest melamine erasers from daiso. wonder if that works.

not quite sure if it is deeply stained or not since it is like this ever since I unbox it, supposing manufacturing paint defects. quite surprised since other of my pops turn out all right. I even broke one of the legs  unlucky day

I would get the VS Law if MegaHouse has given ANY indication that a Doflamingo was coming. But with no Doflamingo, this Law seems totally meaningless.
