Considering the number of episodes in the batches I'm guessing it'll end with 36 episodes instead of episode 39. What bullshit. And this release schedule sucks too. It's going to take almost 2 years to release all 3 (if that's how many there will be) batches. And I'm guessing the quality of the episodes isn't going to be any better than anything we've been getting. In fact it's worse considering the uptick in CGI usage in part 6 so far. And you can see CGI in the new trailer too.

netflix killed the entire jojo community and hype train huh, yeah I'm exaggerating with the use of my words but you get the drift. That's crazy damage to the fandom and interest right there with the release schedule.

Which strikes as odd because Shaman King is airing weekly on Netflix. Either Netflix or DavidPro insisted on the batch format.

There are reports of internal issues with WB and DavidProductions. I highly doubt Netflix would intentionally delay something longer than necessary.

I don't know if it was mentioned here, but since December Ultra Jump is publishing a Jojo spin-off: Crazy Diamond's Demonic Heartbreak.
It's the same magazine where Jojo is published, meaning it is monthly, so the manga is still in the beginning (8 chapters). It's not written or drawn by Araki (the writer is the same of Purple Haze's novel), but it is pretty good.
It takes place 10 years after Part III and shows Hol Horse going to Morioh after a bird. There he meets Josuke and hilarity ensues.

I decided to watch one episode and, behold, half the season went. As far as I got, a HUGE improvement over the first batch of episodes, the entire portion at the Ultra Security Ward was great (and I never liked that part).

The break between the first cour and second was so huge and then you get the third being so much closer.
That and I'll never get the stupidity behind whoever decided this release schedule.
Stone Ocean already suffered from being one of the Jojos with the weaker sales and now it gets this shit. This doesn't look good for SBR.Anyway, David Productions did good for the second cour. The prison fight with the meteorite was one of the top Jojo fights animated. And the fengshui thing wasn't as contrived and messy as in the manga.

Netflix never had control over when the second cour would be ready for release. That delay was entirely on David Productions/WB's side and you'd think people would have heard that enough times now.
Batch release is only really effective for major or shorter-form properties, though, and it seems like Netflix is realizing that. Popular as it is among the dedicated fanbase, JoJo is made for a weekly release.

Well SBR is going to be with Disney+ now most likely, which is possibly worse given they might wait till it's all out and then release it all at once.

Just finished the last batch of part 6. What a ride. David Pro put a lot of effort to bring us Jojo and I'm glad for it.
This last batch has some really well done animation and some clunky ones. They could've have cut some off the recap in the later part of the batch though. -

I bought All-Star Battle R this week and am just reliving my love for Battle Tendency and SBR. Perfect timing.
EDIT: And they added Weather Report as a free DLC today!

It doesn't take anything more than a bit of common sense to look at the situation that oh hey, Netflix brought Jojo over to the platform and announced it at a major Japanese anime event, so perhaps there are some changes that they want from David Productions. Maybe the use of entirely in your original comment should be reconsidered when DP has worked on the series for so long and would have a way better grasp of pacing and schedules than anyone else. Why would they shoot themselves in the foot like this without a third-party interference? Of course, they are not entirely blameless for accepting the deal but any thought given into this situation and anyone can see what's going on.

You might have heard that there were some major structural changes within David Productions in the last few years that resulted in JoJo changing animation teams. You might have also heard about a number of other properties and productions being delayed due to the global pandemic.

The first 3 episodes of the last batch were rough! The third was so bad it was actually distracting. So I was really worried they had flunked the ending, but thank god the quality started improving as soon as the Underworld fight began and remained pretty good all through the end (and, god damn it, the OST was so good!).
I really hate the non-weekly release, but at least as far as the Pucci fight is concerned it was good to watch it all in bulk because they really nailed the non-stop tension of that fight that demands you to keep going without stopping (which reminds me of how amazing it was when JoJo Project finally finished scanlating SO and the 2 guys working on it - Saurian and Kewl - were so on fire they kept releasing the chapters on a daily basis (!!!), so the feeling was very similar).
The third batch ended up being great despite the first episodes. The second batch was also pretty great, leaving only the first as the weak one, so I guess overall I liked SO adaptation. But still, hopefully when it's time to do SBR (my absolute favorite whatever-manga-related) they can be back to where they seemed to be at VA.

Joseph already appeared at the end of Jojolion and Araki recently said the next JoJo will be his descendant - so not him, sadly.I would like a second female jojo (specially since a non-Irene Jolyne would throw chaos into the fanbase), but really my biggest concern is that the JoJo goes by a nickname that can differentiate them like Johnny, so we don’t have another Josuke/Josuke scenario.

I wouldn't mind a change to the usual rule and have a new part set before the preceding one, considering we haven't seen the Jesus caveau opening (in the 70s if I'm not mistaken?) And the recent hint on Joseph descendants, the guy who was purposely shown moving to and living in the states for some decades and has an -alternate- history of illegitimate children.

The latter.
Well, he did say somewhere years ago that he would do 9 parts total, so Jojolands woud be the last one, but the man changes his mind about crucial stuff mid-part, so who knows. Also each part so far has been mostly self-contained, basically he an end it and resume it whenever he wants, like he already did. -

I'm kinda confused by this (not a manga reader and only know up to stone ocean). Like, THE Joseph or whatever the new universe Joseph's equivalent is?

also this. Josuke (4!!!) is my favorite JoJo and it's a bummer being stuck in the shadow of the shinier, newer protag with the same name. Like Johnny vs Jonathan was at least a clever workaround.

Regarding the Josukes, I think it is more the other way around. Despite being new, Part 8 Josuke never got enough popularity to overshadow the classic one, I think the similar names actually worked against him and he ended up just being the "other Josuke" (but that could be my biased perception since I disliked Jojolion).

Pleasantly surprised at how intact Bohemian Rhapsody was. Stuff was cut, sure, but I was expecting more to be changed. I saw that Sky High and Underworld are single episodes though which is kind of disappointing. Especially for Underworld, which I like a lot and I think it's my favorite of the 3 son stands. Not binging it so it'll be a bit before I finish the rest of the episodes.

@Sakonosolo Underworld is effectively two episodes since the previous one manages both set up and moving Ermes and Jolyne into the main trap. Sky High is definitely a bit compressed.

And yeah, I think that assessment of Josuke is correct. Part 4 is older and is way more in the Jojo fan consciousness, meanwhile part 8 just ended.
I wonder how far along Viz's english releases are - last time I checked it was in the middle of Golden Wind? I'd like to start collecting the manga but I know's it's a long endeavor.
edit: most of my knowledge comes from watching the dub so forgive me i'm more used to golden wind and shining diamond lol

Not a great first visual impression of the new guy, honestly. Feels more like a generic stand user than a proper JoJo, but off course it's the personality that will make all the difference.
The premise on the other hand sounds like a lot of fun, in its simplicity. A scavenger hunt across a bizarre archipelago full of quirky sociopaths? A disenfranchised go-getter rising to success through absurd advenures? Can't wait to see it
(and how far Araki goes into it before changing his mind completely after reading a random trivia)! -
