What do you think the chances are? They DEFINITELY need some filler for space after this, rather than something potentially disastrous, wondering if theyll just do Jinbei's story, which is canon anyway
Throughout this month, we will be testing new features (like search) so you may experience some hiccups from time to time. We'll try to not be too disruptive...
Jinbe's cover story/voyage animated?

There's no need for a thread just for this. Go to the coverstory thread.
Also no. They have not done any other cover story, they're not gonna restart now
-
The only cover stories they animated recently were the Straw Hat Whereabouts. Toei won't bother with Jinbe's solo voyage.
-
We really need 8 episodes of Jinbe swimming.
-
They did it for Buggy adventures, usually they also put some strawhats moments.
Actually it will depends on the way they will turn it out,in overall not impossible but they have to make it enjoyable and not too long, also popularity is needed. -
Toei doesn't do cover-stories anymore. Don't ask for a reason, they just don't. Must have a memo to the writing staff saying "no cover stories" or something. Coby/Helmeppo was the last one and that came out over 10 years ago.
The Straw Hat voyages were the only exception for obvious reasons, and because they directly connected with in chapter content during their latter portions. Don't expect them to ever be animated again unless a direct Straw Hat member is included in the future.
I guess the logic of the TC is that Jimbei is technically a Straw Hat, though I doubt Toei sees it that way.

Buggy's mini-arc and CobynHelmeppo had a very poor reception so that must be it.

Hasn't that rumor been debunked?
-
It was a rumor? Ignore what I said then.

The cover stories and filler arcs have the same ratings as the regular episodes.

Their "reason" was that they want to see more fan communication indicating desire for animated cover stories.

Jinbe is the homie. I actually wanna see him in the manga again.

I suppose that's their "official" decision, likely still standing even 8 years after that interview took place. Might be another private rationale regarding this but their absence largely speaks for themselves.
However, presently there are only two they could really do (Caribou's and Jimbei's). The others have essentially passed their expiration date.
