Pica's a giant enemy, so you just know the battle's going to be littered with QTEs and junk in a misguided attempted to be "cinematic" and "immersive" and all that.

Who did the grizzly magnum scene? I couldn't pinpoint their style and I didn't recognize anyone from the list of key animators that would fit.
Good episode though. Art was meh from time to time and there was a lot of noticeable padding, but overall it was pretty enjoyable. Pica's voice always adds a lot to each scene.

Biggest beef I had was this episode was the musical selection for Pica emerging from the statue. That whole scene with Ucy was awkward as hell, but giving Pica the looming threat music as his normal body emerges from the giant statue he was just destroying the city with? Not really working for me.
Also, Cavendish is dangerously close to becoming Toei's next Buggy and that is completely unacceptable.

The animation was just ass in this episode. Quite a few times it looked like a flash animation with how they just moved pictures across the screen to display movement. The art was pretty meh, except for zoro's bit at the end. I know the chapter of content it was covering wasnt exactly exciting anything, but this just felt really dry for me.
I think in the last two months weve gotten through maybe 3.5 chapters, and it really feels like that… Especially when they pad the shit out of the boring parts of the show...
Episodes like these make me want to drop the anime for awhile.

That was really annoying. overusing the same shit over and over again is annoying. It's giving me flashbacks of Buggy and Hancock during Marineford.

I think it was Mitsui Yoichi, he's in the key animator list and he did the diamante dancing scene too. Felt like his style. I'm probably wrong though

some decent animation went into the Grizzly Magnum and the Pica vs Zoro set up, and i also liked how they made pica get his sword from the ground instead of how the manga made it appear out of nowhere. So i guess he can make other objects pass through stone now?

In the manga we saw Pica emerging from the rock presumably with the sword. We never saw his entire body leave the golem without it.

If he can change the location of the Kairoseki factory, a sword shouldn't be a problem.
Art during the 2nd half was easily the best part. Especially stone Pica–still very impressive artwork there. While the animation was hit-and-miss, there were several moments of above-average animation. Actually rather good for the series as of late.

Agreed, though with one exception: Luffy noticing falling rose pedals before turning around–apparently those rose pedals are actually there, not just for affect!
Though frankly, I don't think anything touches the pointlessness of that repeated barrage of Buggy filler, that and the sheer volume.
This chapter in the manga felt more epic than this. Animation very poor. Grizzly Magnum was bad again and it looked as if Zoro can levitate.
