@kouch_lee:
My take on the chapter is that I liked it. I won't deny Gear 4th's design is a complete handful. . .but at the same time, it's so Oda. Kabuki influenced? Looks like a furious Deva? Recoiling punches that look like a Megaman Blaster? Bouncing around like a beach ball after kicking Doflamingo (and sending him between Pica's golem legs)? It was good stuff all around. It's just, the design could use a tweak here and a tweak there.
As the main event, it delivered. It had a massive chance of being underwhelming or not living up to the hype, and there was insane and even a bit unfair levels of hype and expectations. With that in mind, the fact I laughed during the chapter, that I genuinely enjoyed the action, it's more than enough for me.
The rest of the chapter is more standard fare, but I liked it. I liked we were reminded of the storm that'll come after this, and that Zoro will try to stop the cage.
And finally, I gotta say the colorspread, while random as hell, is one of the best he's done recently. I wasn't too hot lately on Oda's spreads, but this one was really funny, colourful, entertaining and engaging. Even crazy, I mean, Sanji is getting eaten by a friggin' zombie lady, there's the Thriller dance in the background, a severed zombie head hovering in the air and Robin nonchalantly feeding grapes to a zombie that just popped its head from the ground beneath? Man, it's just bonkers. And I loved it.
Thanks for replying to me, man, didn't think you would see that post, lol.
