last few minutes of the episode were downright brilliant.
The animation is top notch, memorable bgm used first half, the background characters have never looked this good, Kyros revival just wow, couldn't ask for a better episode to begin 2015! Next episode looks fantastic too.
wow, nothing else I can say, just wow. And the preview! Naotoshi shida doing the fire fist????! Based toei!
Holy fuck that ending. The art was super on point this episode barring a few minor issues. And the animation was decent throughout the episode with a few outstanding scenes. Excellent episode. 10/10 will rewatch.
Next week's ep looks like it's gonna be good too, judging by the preview.

Maybe it's because I was watching a poorer-quality video but I wasn't that impressed. Most of the episode was fillerlicious, just like half the chapter. There were a couple of nice touches mixed in and the music selections were brilliant, but most of the episode was pretty yawn-worthy until that ending. Last scene was a great combination of emotion and badassery.
I'll watch it again later and see if my opinion changes with a better-quality viewing

Really good episode. I don't know if the number of drawings increased, but this is probably one of the most "actually animated" episodes I've seen in a while.
I would have given this a "great" if not for the padding, but even that didn't bother me too much. As others have stated, this was a good way to start the new year.
Next week is THAT moment so I'm going to have higher than usual expectations, but based on the preview, it looks fantastic.

Man, good thing that toy found his arm just before turning back.
A great episode, and a great way to kick off the new year. Just as the arc started picking up steam again after this point, the anime will hopefully follow suit after both lulled during the Operation SOP section. Really great directing and music choices, and the morphing effect was really fun to watch, especially since the transformation was something they could've easily cheaped out on. The last few minutes were really a tour de force of direction and animation, and next week looks to continue the spectacle.
…however, as I had feared having to actually see Kyros hopping around on one leg to get anywhere looks stupid as heck.
Every second dripped awesomeness…

Very good art and animation, but too bad they dragged the transformations for seemingly like 85% of the episode. Excited for where this takes up. The arc is heading to it's final stetch, and it's full speed ahead now
Wow, they certainly managed excel on this episode. Animation and direction were well above par here. Lots of extra detail and extra flourishes to keep even the 1 chapter pacing fresh. Agree with Crossword that this could have easily been cheaped out on had another team been at the helm.
Next week also looks rather good. Nice way to start the new year.

I am just glad that Doffy is presumably dead now and a fitting way to end him so we can move on to Big Mom and the other straw hats, i miss them. From what i seen from the preview my fears are coming to be a reality, they are trying have that person become the new fire fist Ace , they better at least show a montage of Ace for the newer viewers to know who the true owner of the Flame Flame fruit was.

That episode came out Yesterday at 7pm (PST). I don't even bother watching it on Hulu.com because it is not even out on that.

I quite enjoyed this episode, they really padded out the contents without it feeling strained and while not much happened in the episode it felt very cinematic and well directed to me. Storywise they did a great job.
I loved the repeat start and cliffhanger action ending, the previews for next episode have really excited me. I expect filler for a certain scene I saw in the preview and hope it goes well :)
Favourite scene was oddly enough Robin transforming back into a human. It had magical girl anime transformation elements to the animation which made me chuckle.

Brilliant episode, I didn't mind the in canon filler, it added more emotions to the transformations, next week looks like it's going to be better, great way to start 2015, I hope it keeps going like this.

Though I am WAY late to this… this was my exact reaction as well. Mind you when I just watched this episode several days ago... and I stopped/took a hiatus from reading the manga at chapter 736.
So I was BLOWN AWAY when I saw this episode. Probably the most excited I have been watching an anime episode since Goku turned super sayian
