Well im at ep 150ish and WAAAAAAAAAY back in the first few episodes it showed a flash back with Shanks and Buggy, now what im arguing with my bro (Ajiro) is that Benn Beckman was their old captain, i mean in the flash back he looked alot like him and hes pretty old now in the show, he had some grey ass hair he look completely different, so the age wouldnt be a problem am i right anyone?

It clearly wasn´t Ben Backman. Their former captain looked different besides that he appeared to be older in Buggy´s flashback then Ben Beckman was in Luffy´s flashback.
And it was definitely not Roger since Roger´s true face is still kept a secret by Oda while Shank´s and Buggy´s captain already was shown.

plus the captain of that ship seemed to be in his late twentys when shanks and buggy were about 14-15ish and shanks and beckman appear to be roughly about the same age so that also speaks against the possiblity of him being beckman. -

im thinking 28-29ish,and actualy i dont really see the resemblence between those two(anime and manga) but i suppose it could just be the diffrent angles.

Excuse me??? They have the same hair style, the same beard style, the both were glasses and even wear the same collar. Luffy also doesn´t always look in the anime like in the manga but it is clear that he is based of the manga original. Same count´s for this captain.

thats a young looking 40 year old atleast the anime one he looks a bit older in the manga pic me thinks.
id say it i could be anywhere from late twentys to mid thirtys but 40 seems a little too old.and i dont think its something worth arguing over i just dont see the resemblence and as i said its probably cause in the manga you see him from behind and in the pic you gave it was from the front,
if i look at the same behind pic of the anime version ill probably recognize him ^^

Well Ben does look conseiderably older then Shanks, if you go back to the anime episode when Mihawk visits Shanks, Ben looks very old and grey. Hair is grey instead of original black etc.

That is neither Ben Beckman, nor the captain of the ship. His name is Rayleigh. I know no one has posted in this thread since '05, but I still will refrain from totally spoiling the story. Thus, I will not include just WHO this Rayleigh figure is, or the rest of his name.
