I still have yet to view all of Bojack, but I know I really should get on it.
Netflix Original Series Bojack Horseman

Read tweet which implied it was Netflix decision to end the show. Hoping it gets a proper ending and not something ambiguous or open ended personally.
An extra 4 episodes this season is nice, even if it is cut in half. Wonder if the halfway point is a cliffhanger .org written to be a two part season.

As conclusive of an ending you can do for a show about a dudes lifelong struggle with mental health. By the nature of the story told it feels like it isn't going to end with all threads neatly wrapped up or anything to final, but i could be wrong.

Did… did they just pull an anti-Penultimate-Episode-depression-anza on us?:
[hide]Episode 7: Wouldja look at that, Bojack's really getting his shit together and even his friends are improving their lives, nowhere to go but up from here :)
Episode 8: siiiiiiiiiike[/hide]

A few more episodes to go but "Surprise!" was absolutely hilarious with the streaming jokes and physical comedy.
-
I know the first part of the second episode was supposed to be overwhelming, but god damnit. Maybe it's the added fact I woke up with a mild but persistent headache today, but that whole bit was almost maddening to me.
EDIT: Virgil Van Cleef cameo! Took so long…
-
Glad the episodes seemed to be focusing on storylines wrapping up character arcs instead of coming up with high concept ideas. I’d rather have the show end cohesively then the show forcing another Free Churro or Fish Out of Water to try out new concepts.

I think Surprise! counts as another episode thats there to see how long they can run with one idea for a whole episode.

Ok, Part 1 finished
! It's funny, when season 2 ended with BoJack seemingly going for a complete change in his behavior, I felt betrayed. What attracted me to the character was the feeling that what was wrong about him was his very self, the core of who he was, and there was nothing that could be done about that - there is no way one can be free from themselves. At that moment, BoJack finding a way out to improve made me feel like how he described his feelings when someone leaves rehab. And when it ended as a fake out, I was definitely pleased.
This time, though, it was such a relief to see him finally improving I actually found myself worrying in the scenes when a drawback seemed to be imminent. Episode 7 was particularly touching in that sense, as the whole thing gave me that overall pleasant feeling that "things are getting better". I don't know how much this tells of the series and how much is just the fact it seems to be finely tuned with my own phases through the last years, but it's still amazing how it seems to always give me exactly what I am looking for. Things are not perfect and in a sense nobody is happy, there is this air of melancholy circling the characters, but it's of the peaceful kind, not the stale one.
I am really curious to see how Part 2 will wrap everything and how BoJack will get out of the ultimate trial that he kept at the back of his mind even while on his search for accountability. But for once I am looking forward holding to the belief things will end up fine for him… somehow. -
Ya know, I completely forgot that this season was being split into 2 parts lol
! Which means that there's still time to undo the relatively nice/bittersweet ending to part 1. Yay….

The final episodes appear this Friday. Excited to see how it ends.
My sister sent me a book the creator wrote, Someone Who Will Love You In All Your Damaged Glory. It’s a series of short stories about love and connections, good and bad, and the vulnerability that comes from love. Hoping it’s a fun read.

10/10, shoulder to shoulder with The Wire and Deadwood for me, if not better.

Such high praise.

Wait a second, what was…
! written in Hollyhock's letter?
And should we assume that…
! Pickles just left Peanutbutter for Joey?
And holy shit about all this time
! the opening ending with Bojack in the pool had a meaning behind it.
-
That was an ending.
-
Fuck they even did the Pagliacci joke. This is one one the peaks of adult animation.
-
Well, that was pretty much one of two endings this show could have had and stayed true to itself.

! Given the context of Bojack's reaction and that Hollyhock changed her phone number, it was pretty clear the note went something like "You're a monster and I never want to see you again, please stop calling me" message.
! As for Pickles, that's not an assumption, they explicitly said that's what happened, though they said it quickly as an aside and didn't linger on it. -
Well, that was perfect.
Finished over two hous ago and my eyes are still sore from all the crying.
-
Episode 15 nearly made me cry. This was a good season finale.
! I really wanted to know what was in the letter. But I guess it being a never speak to me again makes sense.
! I wasn't paying attention to the episode count so I thought 15 was the end. Man that would have been ballsy. Even for this show. It was so eerie and disturbing especially when the black stuff started coming out. I'm glad though that it continued and pretty much everyone else left in his life wound up with happier endings. -
Me too! It left me terrified.
-
Brilliant ending to a brilliant show. The only downside is that, apparently, they did want to keep it going for another few seasons (which, yeah, I think they could have done), but they still pulled it off masterfully.
Well, that was pretty much one of two endings this show could have had and stayed true to itself.
Dare I ask what the other one was?

Dare I ask what the other one was?
! Have Bojack actually die. Basically the next-to-last episode is much the same, but then the aftermath in the next one would have been different. How, I dunno. Maybe mostly the same just with some conversations going different.
! I don't think that would have been the right ending though, since the show is about growing and moving on… not just having all your shit hit you at once and kill you because your old mistakes are inescapable.
! Though all added up Bojack did a loooooot of bad shit over the course of the show. -

Maybe it’s just unique because Bojack’s a celebrity, but one thing I didn’t know how the show addressed is
! how to build new relationships after all the shitty things he’s done. Bojack paid for his shitty behavior with Hollyhock and Diane essentially leaving him, but is he bound to be haunted by his shitty actions forever?

! I think he is to be haunted forever. That's also kind of his problem. He does bad things on the fly. Regrets it wallows in it. Goes through benders. Kinda bounces back. Gets reminded of the terrible shit and relapses again. And a lot of the people he wronged he can't get any closer with either due to death or them cutting him out of their lives.

Am I the only one who finds the first 3 seasons the funniest ones and they made the following more depressing?
-
Am I the only one who finds the first 3 seasons the funniest ones and they made the following more depressing?
You mean the seasons where Bojack's cancer-stricken former best friend completely cut him out of his life and refused to forgive him?
The seasons where Bojack almost slept with his former girlfriend's daughter?
The seasons where Sarah Lynn died?Yeah, those were light-hearted seasons, weren't they?
-
[hide] The gradual dissolving of Diane and Bojack friendship hit me the hardest. That last scene where the nostalgic flashes of the friendship and banter hit the we can't undo this reality was really strong for me. But yeah, it was a good ending. Could've used more time but it had a solid run and a good wrap[/hide]

Too soon man. The Bojack wound is still open.
-
Started Bojack. I knew so little about the show that wasn't sure if Bojack was the only anthropomorphic animal or not. Pretty fun show and I like the quirks of this word. I especially like how well Mr peanutbutter match is appearance without having to go into the joke too hard.
Episode 5 has the first joke I don't like with Diane's brother. They make me cringe.
Also I love that ending song. Since melancholia to it. Too bad it's so short.

Tuca and Bertie being revived by Adult Swim.
-
Fuck yes, the last episode fizzled a bit -probably due to uncertainty about renewal - but this was a bouncy, arrestingly entertaining trip. Just…off the wall imagination, all the time.
