Thanks for sharing the links, it's great to rediscover the One Piece manga in color without going for the anime (I've always preferred mangas, as you can stop them whenever you want and read them at your own rhythm, spending 5 minutes on one page and 2 on the next 10 if you want it)

My apologies.I don't have the 3056p version but I used to. If you ask me, I think it was an upscale. You could tell cause tone sheets kinda got warped.

The anonymous guy has done all six volumes in full English. Since he did it so quick, you can guess that he didn't translate all the SFX like last time. However, the dialogue is still [mostly] the Viz translations, and he did translate some SFX when he felt they were important.
If you don't want to torrent it, it's already on mangasee123, kissmanga, and the like. -

No way! I thought they'd wait at least a year after dropping so many volumes at once a few months ago. Maybe even until the end of Wano. This is great news! Hope releases stay regular for at least a little while.

Sure, a single volume release isn't nearly as exciting as 6 full volumes.
But I remember the Volumes 73-82 era where you could pretty reliable count on the next volume coming out in 3 months, typically on the 4th.
That's so much better than just going several months without news and praying you'll get another colored volume soon.
Not just for us as consumers, but also for rippers and fan-translators. -
I wonder if the sudden consistency has anything to do with the upcoming Vivre Card sets. They'd need to do at least volume 94 to have the art they need for a Kawamatsu card, so maybe we'll get that one alongside the digital black and white volume 99.
Either way I hope they stay regular for at least a little while. I don't want to spend over a year wondering if the release was outright cancelled ever again.

Wano continues to look spectacular in colour, The bright outfits and hair tones have so much life in them, and it's definitely easier to tell Robin and Hyori apart at a glance now. The opening chapters in Orochi's palace were the definite highlight this time around. It was a bit of a shock seeing Shinobu without her ninja headdress on in the bath scene and Ebisu. Even with the ponytails showing the whole time, I had totally forgotten her hair was so dark. I think I'd just mentally registered the pink hood as her hair tone. Almost didn't recognise her and had to do a double take the first time I was flipping through.
I really hope we get at least one more volume before this thing inevitably goes back on hiatus, if only because volume 93 is such a transitional section of the arc. Lots of buildup, very little payoff. Volume 94 has a ton more great spreads and more or less wraps up the prison mine section of the arc, which would make it a good place to leave off for a bit if that's what they have to do.

Came here to say this. Not even just between Robin and Hyori, but Robin and any geisha or female character with black hair put up in the same way (which is fairly common in Wano). I swear it was always a game of "Robin or not Robin" when I was reading these chapters in black and white. Now that I'm so easily able to tell everyone apart is one of the greatest benefits of color this time around for me personally.

Don't you guys have the impression in this last volumes they are putting too much bright dots in the faces, clothes, etc? Kyoshiro's kimono looks like plastic, and sometimes it's exaggerated I think.

That could just be a result of the way it was rendered.
Like here yeah I can see what you're talking about a bit.
But in the One Piece Global Ranking images I don't think it looks as intense.
Err well, I mean the kimono still has a lot of brightness shading. But that might be intentional. Wano is supposed to be very saturated arc. -

New Vivre Card pics are up in the relevant thread, featuring coloured panels from volumes not released yet. The latest one I could find, on the back of Jinbe's card, was from chapter 984, the last one in volume 97. Crazy thinking the colour version could potentially be only a volume behind the black and white release.
Hopefully this is a good sign we'll be consistently getting a new colour volume alongside every black and white release for the next few volumes at least. Anything other than sitting on them for as long as they did the 87 - 92 set.

So when the current anime opening started, people were quick to notice that Luffy's raid outfit, among others, didn't match the cover of volume 97:
The opening was quickly enough amended to fix Luffy's outfit, and at the same time updated most of the other Strawhats as well, to what people have assumed is their current raid colours:
But the volume 97 panels coloured in the Vivre Card set don't totally match either set of colours:
Luffy obviously follows his volume 97 cover/second opening colours, and Chopper doesn't change much between the two, given that his samurai colours were on the front of volume 95. But Nami seems to have kept her blue ninja gear instead of changing to the red one from the opening. Franky is somewhere between his two sets of colour. Sanji doesn't have the red suit. Zoro isn't in black. Usopp goes with his colours from the first version of the opening. Brook isn't wearing his samurai gear from the openings, but the anime's version doesn't quite match the volume 95 version for him anyway.
Anyone's guess at this point if this is the anime and manga deviating in colours in the biggest way we've seen in a long time, or if it's just a symptom of the colouring for volume 97 still being a work in progress with a few panels rushed to completion for the databook.

This happened with Gerd. Her Vivre Card color scheme seemed to be based off her color scheme from when she was a child. The new color scheme is the same as the anime's however.
We also saw this with Marco.
We even saw this with long-time characters such as "Axe-Hand" Morgan, which just makes absolutely no sense to me.So yeah my guess is that when Volume 97 gets colorized, most, if not all, of these color schemes will match version 2 of the opening "DREAMIN' ON".

Brook isn't on the samurai outfit in Onigashima. That's honestly the weirdest part of the opening. Chopper kept the armor from the beginning of act 3, but Luffy and Brook both went from samurai armor to something else. In the opening they have Luffy use the new outfit but not Brook. So what gives.

In any case, I suppose the point falls moot, since Dreamin’ On is from August 2020 and will probably be discontinued by Fall 2021 in favor of a new opening, one presumably with different clothes in addition to showcasing the new characters like the Flying Six.

I hadn't actually noticed the Gerd and Marco ones. The release of the volumes was so far after the Vivre Cards it didn't occur to me to go back and compare. That's good evidence we'll see an update to whatever the canon is, whether it matches the anime or not.
I think the updates to Morgan and Helmeppo was mostly because the early colour volumes did not have quite the same level of quality we get now. It's a shame they couldn't update the volumes with those more accurate colours as well.

The July colour releases have been added to the schedule and unfortunately, we are not getting volume 94 alongside the digital black and white 99.
I'm really disappointed. Getting black and white 98 and colour 93 together on the same day felt amazing. Getting at least a few more volumes on that schedule would have been ideal. Oh well…

Damn, I was really looking forward to the idea of consistent releases. Ya know, a new colored volume every 3-4 months. But if it's not going to be July, it's anyone's guess when. At least we'll be getting that Vivre card booster set.

Yeah, Vivre Cards are better than nothing. We know surprisingly little about the pack for how close to release it is. Still, I'd kill for some consistency in the colour releases.
I wonder how long they'll actually be able leave us though. Shueisha's only got about 9 ongoing full colour releases, and almost all of the others are closer to their black and white counterparts than One Piece is. I did some looking around the website and noted down some findings:

They're also able to start doing new series whenever they want (like Spy X Family and Golden Kamuy, which literally started this month), and there are a few ongoing "semi-colour" releases I didn't bother counting, that only colour a handful of pages per chapter (usually ecchi ones, from what I saw) which could take up the colouring team's time and attention. But broadly, the numbers say we'll be due for an update sooner rather than later. Keep your fingers crossed!
