Best Moment of the Year
Chapter 741 - 743. Its a roller coaster of emotions and events.
Usopp's amazing speech to the dwarves, Kyros's flashback, Diamante mocking Rebecca, the end of the Sugar vs Usopp fight, and then all hell breaks loose as the toys become human again.
Honorable mention to Usopp awakening Haki, and the entire Law/Doffy flashback.
Character of the Year Barto/Cavedish combo. They've been around for over a year now and their are still just as entertaining. They're quirky, extremely memorable, and are to dressrosa what Monet and Vergo was to Punk Hazard.
Honorable metion goes to
Usopp (who running away, while it led to an amazing moment, felt out of character)
Corazon (who is amazing, but a one-time character).
Dellinger, who appears to have been defeated too fast (if he doesn't get up next chapter i'll be seriously disapointed RAWR BEHOLD MY TRUE FORM defeated in one hit THATS NOT HOW YOU DO FIGHTS).
Sugar, being surprisingly badass.
Best new Character
Rocinante, hands down.
He's funny, comedic, tragic, and overall very, very entertaining. He stole Law's flashback and made it something that almost everybody, even avid Law haters, liked.
Best Fight of the Year
Luffy & Law vs Doflamingo & Trebol.
Its nice seeing Luffy team up against a big bad for once, no matter how temporary it may or may not be. To make it even better Law is about the same level as Luffy, so its less "Leader and Assisstant" and more "Equals going at it". Doflamingo and Trebol have some nice chemistry and interesting abilities to spice things up. Then there's also Bellamy, but arguably he's more of a tool than a proper player, at least this year.
Honorable mention goes to the later half of Usopp vs Sugar, however offscreened that fight may be. Grand honorable mention to Franky vs Señor. Had it not been so choppy, this would easily be one of ym favorite fights.
Best Surprise of the Year
Drake's cameo in Law's Flashback.
Honorable mention goes to Usopp's Haki, Law being a D and Pica's voice.
Quote of the Year
The entirety of Usopp's speech to the Tontatta.
Honorable mention goes to some of the cryptic statements made by Fujitora, and much of the dialogue during Doflamingo's flashbacks.
Funniest Moment of the Year
!
Grand honorable mentions to Law being carried like a sack of potatoes and slowly going mad thanks to Luffy and the Coliseum Gladiators.
Honorable mentions to "Its all been an act" sets coat on fire, Franky vs Señor Pink and Kanjuro.
Shame of the Year
Fujitora does absolutely nothing.
Well he does some things, but you'd expect a MARINE ADMIRAL with GRAVITY POWERS to be a bit more active.
Honorable mentions goes to rushed pace, marines continue to be background material, Bastille cements the fact that marine vice-admirals are useless, offscreened fights, Burges suddenly vanishing into thin air and Sabo not really being anything in particular.
Worst Character
As much as it pains me, Bellamy.
I don't really know what I expected from him in the first place, but all I know is that what we've seen this year hasn't been satisfying. It makes sense, its meant o be fulfilling to Bellamy and not the reader, but from an enjoyment perspective, it doesn't hit home. Overall he's felt very uneccesary to the arc.
Honorable mention goes to Sabo (who so far has felt dangerously close to a Mary Sue mc. cooly cool kid). I'm tempted to say Fujitora as well, but the man's so damn cryptic I can't even decide if its a bad thing. Possibly also Rebecca, but I can at least see where Oda is coming from in her case.
Worst New Character
Vacuum Lady
Worst Fight of the Year Zoro vs Pica
Just show us the two of them clashing properly instead of mentioning it every other chapter, often taking away focus from the actual main content of that week.
Honorable mention goes to Rebecca. Every single time she attempts to fight. The sole reason Zoro vs Pica is above that is because its dragged out.
Worst Surprise of the Year
Stringclone

Overall
Its been an alright year. The highlights were the success of operation S.O.P and the chaos that followed, as well as Law's flashback. The latter one was also one of the most anticipated moments of the series, and having it exceed both the expectations of lovers and haters alike… that's some fine skill.
The biggest downside is, without a doubt, the pacing. There's been so much running, jumping back and forth (Pica's fight is a grade-A example) and just... it ruins the experience.
